February 2024 by Mark Johnson
UPDATE Feb 2024: When you read a review that has a complaints about ten different topics, you have to wonder where exactly the problem lies. In nine years at Clocktower, I have never experienced elevators that don't work properly, homeless people in the building, drug use or paraphernalia on the property, had a work order canceled, or had management lie to me. Heat in this building is dirt cheap because it's a mammoth south-facing brick building. There has never been an unscheduled water outage. Every apartment is renovated every time it changes hands. Every washer and dryer (in all ten laundry rooms) has been replaced with brand new equipment. Every window in the building (over 1,000 of them) has been replaced with high-quality insulated windows. Management is incredibly responsive to resident needs and requests.ORIGINAL POST FROM 2017: Perhaps the concerns in some of these older posts have been addressed. In nearly three years, I've never been "harassed by a homeless person" on the Clocktower property or in the neighborhood. The hallways and other common areas are impeccably clean, as there is a 3-person cleaning crew on site 7 days a week, in addition to a very attentive professional management staff of eight. Garage parking is only $50 a month and there has never been a time that I've seen the free, residents-only surface lot full. The opportunity to walk to both Main St and Mine Falls Park make Clocktower a great place to be.

Going on 2 years and I love it here, love the building, the staff, the surroundings. Does it have issues? Sure but honestly not enough for me to even remotely look or want to look elsewhere. Love the ability to work out on site, swim in the pool, park underground, walk to restaurants, bars and shops and take amazing walks in Minds Falls, and all in walking distance. I love my apartment and amenities!!!!!! The neighbors I have met are delightful but you will be amazed for a buolding this size you don’t see them often lol

After asking about a refund $100 the response from the administrator was :"Please allow up to 7 days for your check to cash before we can request the $100 refund." According to my bank, the check was cashed on February 25th. After claiming to the same administrator about the situation, her response was ""Your check was cashed and a request was put in to the corporate office to cut you a $100.00 refund check. You should have it before 3/28/22." From receiving my refund on 3/7, maybe I will get the refund by 3/28. Corporate burocracy.... :-)

Location isn't the safest area. Lots of homeless people around and drug users. Some residents provide a less then safe feeling. The apartments themselves are very outdated for their price. Worth it if the apartment was up to date. White, old, rundown appliances and cheap countertops. The community heating bill is complete hogwash. It's a fine print clause that was never mentioned during the property visit or lease signing. People who don't use heat have to pay for others to use heat. Your staff lied to my face when addressing an issue with a resident.Completely unprofessional. On top of that, treating me like I'm incompetent is insulting. Both combined with the dishonesty is completely unprofessional. Staff refusing to file a complaint against another resident who, come to find out from other residents, is a menace to them too, shows a lack of respect for other residents. Maintenance requests get canceled without being tended to or even replied to. Some of the dryers are not drying clothes. My service request was canceled with no explanation why. Other maintenance requests were placed the same day as the AC went out. The only thing done was notes stuck to the doors saying the AC unit stopped working. What about the other maintenance requests? My other issues with the AC not blowing in my apartment were not addressed.Moving on, The elevators don't work properly. The doors constantly open, close, and reopen when no one is hitting the button. You can be standing there and the door just opens and closes over and over again.Children are peeing in the pool and hot tub, and residents are letting their children do this. It's easy to tell when the child yells "Hold on, I'm peeing" in Spanish. The apartments need updating. The amount of money charged for an outdated apartment is outlandish. The apartment that is shown is fully updated, then when it comes time to move in, you get a completely outdated apartment. The hot water issue is one of the most obnoxious issues. I have to set my alarm 15 minutes early just so I can get up, turn the shower on, go back to bed, and wait the 15 minutes before I can take a hot shower.Clocktower place is most definitely a minimal effort, maximum profit apartment building. I have yet to see anything that would change my rating from a zero to anything higher when it comes to recommending to a friend.

I have lived here for three Years and My experience has been nothing but positive. I think that the person Who was referencing homeless People is thinking of the gentle folks Who live near the building in a home for Veterans and don't bother anybody. The People Who work in the office are very nice and work hard. It's a great place to live. The Pool, Gym and Hot Tub are all clean when I go. From what I see those old reviews are of no relevance as I have seen nothing negative in three Years

The rent is a bit high so I had a roommate in a 2br to split costs. Lived there for a few years. Having visitors late or overnight is annoying. They have no visitor spaces and management towed after 9pm. Expect huge towing bills in New Hampshire. Year long lease agreement was very restrictive and hard to get out of when I moved out, but my roommate stayed. In general management was helpful, but the rules from higher up are just rediculous.

At this place people steal shoes that you leave at your door, they also steal your clothes from the laundry room, and now they steal packages from the package room. My family and I have been living in Clocktower for 3 years and all this 3 years people have stole many of our things. I highly don’t recommend living here. We tell the office and they don’t do anything about it, that’s really messed up.

I moved to the Clocktower Place Apartments a month ago and I love where I live! The apartments are very spacious with high ceilings and French windows overlooking a beautiful river. When we first moved in, there were several issues in the apartment which really bothered us. But when I contacted the staff, they were more than helpful to fix all the issues as fast as they could. Tia, Jennifer, Scott, Doreen, and Bob are the ones whose names I know, but all the people who work here are amazing! Thank you.

Pool has been closed for 4 days now because somebody broke a bottle in the pool. With the insane amount this place charges for rent, I would expect the pool to be back in service within 24 hours. Here it is 4 days later and all we are told "it is going to take a while".
I have no problem paying the high rent because it is a very convenient location.
Frankly, the maintenance and service is terrible at Clocktower Place.
Save the aggravation and find a better apartment where it doesn't take forever for every repair to get done.
Stay Away!!

I just finished up my 1 year lease in a 2-bedroom facing the river on the 3rd floor (I'm leaving bc rent was too much for me and I didn't need the space). My experience was pretty good overall.
Pros:
- Location: Right next to Main St., 3-5 minutes from the highway, 9-10 minutes from Route 3, just across the road from an entrance to Mine Falls park
- California Burritos in the parking lot
- Security: There was almost always someone in the lobby desk, and at night there is a security guard patrolling while also checking parking stickers
- Packages are placed in a package room and you are emailed about their arrival
- No homeless people harassing me in the parking lot
Cons:
- When they replaced the windows, it was sloppily done for my apartment. There were streaks of green caulking on the walls and ceiling of my apartment, and dirt stains on my carpet. My apartment was also left unattended and the front door OPEN for an unknown amount of time.
- Kinda pricey: I paid about $1495+$200(heat/electric/etc). Maybe that's not bad for you. I think they upped my apartment to around $1550.
- I had some problems not-renewing my lease due to some miscommunication and it's costing me $250
- Even though it's a smoke-free property, there are always people smoking in the front

i lived at clocktower for all of 2017 and for the most part it was a good experience. A couple issues i had is with security, my vehicle was stole about 4 months into my lease(due to my poor choice in older cars) but when i addressed it to security i was basically brushed off. The apartments are large and very nice, the windows have small gaps under them due to age i would assume and you can hear all of you neighbor's "private" nights, but besides those few things i had a good experience there and as of right now am considering going back
