Went to Alecs to purchase some orthopedic work shoes. Always went to this store at its old location in South Nashua and never had an issue. Went with a list of several different shoes branda and styles from my podiatrist to try. Was actively looking at the shoes for a solid 15 minutes while sales people were ignoring me and talking to one another. I approached an older gentlemen with my shoe list and was asking if he could show me a few things on the list. He informed me he had no clue about the shoes even though they are a popular brand they carry and passed me off to another female sales person. I do not know her name as she had no name tag and did not have the courtesy to introduce herself. I asked her to measure my feet and she told me I was a 9 1/2. I have always been a size 8. I voiced my concern about that and was simply assured we would find the right fitting shoes. This sales woman was extremely rude and got aggitated anytime I asked her a question. When I asked her to bring out smaller shoe sizes as my feet were falling out of the 9 1/2s she would march off, come back about 10 minutes later, toss the boxes on the floor and rip off the shoes I was currently wearing very angrily. Eventually we came to a pair that seemed to have all of the qualifications and specifics I needed. (I am a chef.) Sales woman was still insistent on a size much too big. After awhile I agreed to get a slightly bigger size 9 with the smallest width they had as I have very Narrow feet. Without any words she grabbed the shoes. Threw them on the counter and began ringing me out. At the end of the transaction she simply walked away without saying anything such as "thank you" or have a " good night.' This alone left me with a very poor experience. While I was leaving I looked at there posted return policy which states you can return in "new condition" shoes within 15 days of purchase with reciept and all tags. 3 dollar restocking fee would be charged. Ita important to note absolutely NOTHING was stated about a manufacturer defect with shoes being thw only qualification for returns. I brought the shoes home and wore them only in the house a few times to break them in. The shoes caused me extreme foot pain which only adds to the foot issues I already have. I called and asked to speak to the manager whose name is Dan. I explained the situation and that I had only worn the shoes in my home not outside to get messy. He asked me to bring them in with my receipt and he would assist me. I did just that. Uppn trying the shoes in front of him he acknowledged and verbally agrees that they were too big and didnt seem like a good fit. He ended up finding me another pair that fit much better. However he refused to exchange the shoes stating that their policy "only allows exchanges due to manufacturing defects." Absolutely 100% not stated in their policy at all. I asked if he would make an exception as the shoea were in near perfect condition and I have been a customer off and on since my youth. He refused stating again that "we only take back shoes with a manufacturer defect." Which again is not stated. I am not made od money and simply could not afford to purchase another 100+ dollar pair of shoes. So because I paid for the incorrect fitting ones I left the store with them even though I can not use them. Manager was rude, unapologetic about his employees wrong doings and even tried to blame me for their poor service. I will NEVER return to this store again.

I've been a customer for many years, since they were located in downtown Nashua. Great selection, good prices and outstanding service. I buy all of my shoes here.

Frank, the young man who spent A LOT of time helping us locate a pair of boots was absolutely amazing. His great attitude and willingness to assist us WITH a genuine smile helped us to make our purchase. If you want quality and exceptional customer service Alec's is the place to go. Thank you Frank for your patience and kindness.

Huge store with lots of shoes! They helped me pick out what I needed quickly. The employees didn't wear badges, so it's sometimes hard to tell who they are! I haven't worn them enough to see exactly how they fit. It's also tucked in an odd place, be sure you know where you are going! GPS really helps. Plenty of free parking.

I had high hopes for this place because they had every brand I have been looking at. Turns out, if you are younger, they aren’t interested in helping you. Several people came into the area after I was already standing there waiting to get my size in a shoe and they were helped before me. Finally someone came up and asked if I needed help or any recommendations. I told him what I was looking for, didn’t have a preferred brand but wanted a hiking shoe that was light and waterproof. His response was enough for me to walk out. And I quote “well I can’t work on that information so either give me some more or look around and find me when you have an idea” I was holding a shoe, and answered his questions.Clearly the few reviews about customer service being bad, that I brushed off, were true. Spend your money elsewhere and save some money.

First experience here, yesterday. I usually like to be left alone when shopping and hate feeling hassled by employees, so I was reluctant to try Alec's. I don't know why! I get anxious, shopping in person, and I hate feeling like I'm being an inconvenience while tryingon shoes...I'd typically rather just be left alone to fend for myself/be left alone. However, this was the best shoe-shopping experience I've ever had. The employees were there to be helpful but not "in your space" or pushy in ANY way. I felt like this was how customer service used to be, back in the day when department stores were thriving. It was old-timey in the way that employees were happy to have you there and happy to help you find the right shoe, but modern in the way that they weren't pushy. To top it off, the selection is insane. Any nice footwear that you're looking for is probably here. I love shoes and this place is huge, clean, and well-designed.Husband and I walked out with three new pairs of shoes and dare I say: it was a pleasant experience! Even in December, a busy shopping season!I will likely never go to any other shoe store, quite literally.

5th time shopping at Alec'sWent in needing both business and hiking shoes, due to a foot size change. The available selections were excellent, the staff provided valuable insight on choices and brand characteristics and even found me a business-type leather boot that allowed side-zipper access for ease of on/off with an injured ankle. At a discount ! !Online shopping for this type of highly personal item is no substitute for a well-staffed quality retailer.

As always, our visit at Alec's was pleasant and fruitful. Our shoe professional, with 30 years experience there, quickly and competently assisted my wife and me with our needs and preference for new sneakers.

High quality footwear. Outstanding customer service! Pricing is a bit high. I found better prices on sneakers at Dick's Sporting Goods. Great quality shoes, sneakers, boots, men, women, kids. Discount section. Nashua's best kept secret! Shhhh. Huge parking lot in awesome location, walking distance from Doubletree, Somerset Plaza, Kessler Farm. Don't drive to the mall and deal with traffic. This store is right off the highway Exit 8. A must stop for tourists! .

Chase and the entire team are consistently awesome. These folks set the bar for customer service in the shoe industry. I tried on half a dozen On Clouds before finding just the right one and never felt like I was a burden or inconvenience despite it being busy on a Saturday morning. You have a loyal customer here guys, keep up the great work.

Went to Alec's on a shopping mission with our three young Grandchildren. Rick helped the kids gets some winter boots, sneakers and some nice winter mittens.Rick was very patient and knowledgeable about the products, knew right where to direct us for proper sizes and was able to find everything we needed. It was fun to sit back and watch the activity and know we were in good hands.Overall, the kids were well behaved. They did throw Rick a few changes here and there and he went right along with them and got them what they wanted. The kids, parents and Gampy were all happy campers when we left!!I have been a customer there for over 40 years and it looks like there is a new generation starting their shopping career at Alec's!

Alec's has been my family's shoe store for 5 generations. I remember when there were only 3 staff members... Vasso (Bill), Helen and Alec. This is a store that is truly built on honesty, integrity and unparalleled service to the customer. The brands and styles are infinite and the prices are always fair. Alec's will always be our shoe store.

Love this store for variety and service. Have been shopping for at least 25 years. Now that I’ve had foot surgery I will soon go to select new shoes. Keeping my fingers crossed ?
