Yesterday I’ve visited this banks drive-through to cash a check. The check was a Bar Harbor Bank check Lakes Sunapee bank that was written out to me by the account holder. I do not have an account at Bar Harbor Bank due to previous poor experience. When I endorse the check, gave my ID and passed it in. They said there would be a $10 fee for a non-customer to cash a check. I said it was ridiculous and commented they shouldn’t do that. The teller then got a manager involved the manager restated the position of the bank, and I again said that is an awful practice. However, go ahead and charge me the $10. I continued to say it’s a ridiculous policy. However, when I said go ahead and charge me the $10 I also said I will be posting a review on your business. The bank manager, I believe to be Sarah Tinsley. I requested that she also pass me one of her business cards so I could properly say who she is. Sarah was at that point starting to become offensive. She didn’t like that I would be posting a review. So I asked to record the conversation if she would be comfortable with that, she said that she would be. I pulled out my phone and began making a video recording of our conversation , I stated in the beginning of the video what was the need to make a video. At that point Sarah became very defensive about me wanting to post a review. I said here’s how it works if you charge me for a service then I am a customer and if I am a customer, I have the right to review your business. She then said that I was harassing her and that she was going to call the police. She called the police and so did I because at this point she had not returned my check not returned my ID and would not let me leave with those items. Once the cops came mind you it’s been 30 minutes that I am sitting in the drive-through at this point. They did their best to solve the situation quickly and asked what it would take for me to just move on with my day. I said I just want to cash the check I’m a reasonable person. I will just post to review. I chose to be reasonable. However that was when they decided to tell me that they needed to open the vault to cash the check and then it would be an additional 10 to 15 minutes all in all I was at the bank nearly 45 minutes in the drive-through , I have a video to show you the behaviors, and I think you’ll be shocked to see how not offensive and completely calm. I am through the entire thing and how the entire scenario is repulsive. I would never want one of my employees to represent my business in this way .I stuck out the time and pay the $10 specifically so that I could be here today to make this review and that it would be legitimate as I paid you for what you claim to be as a bank as a service to cash your own check. I will wait for your response. However, if I don’t get one I will be pursuing another avenue to ensure that this information reaches the right people. I will not limit my review to Google. I will find every place I can to post.
