Loved our short stay at Half Moon. The location, in Laconia can't be beat, the staff were exceptionally accommodating, the room was very clean, good linens (walls a little thin, but our neighbors were quiet), and a nice pool.Nearby activities: Weirs Beach (with watercraft rentals), World's largest Arcade, Bank of NH Pavilion, White Mountains.Walkability: Walking distance to: beach, shops, restaurants, scenic train, Mt. Washington boat cruise.

This spot is great, perfect view of the Lake, so many places within walking distance to eat and drink. The mount Washington ship leaves every day from across the street! The Half Moon staff was friendly and so helpful. The pool looked amazing, but I didn't go in because it was rainy on & off during my stay. The room was very clean and my bed was comfortable. Room could use some updating, but other than that, my stay was really perfect considering the weather. I plan on going back next summer. Highly recommended.

The hotel is definitely old and can use some updating. It has the old dirty feel but it was sanitary, had a great location, and the service was awesome! We enjoyed our stay. We had a room with a queen bed and queen pull out sofa which worked well for our family of four. We loved that we could walk to everything in the area.

Well the water pressure in Cottage #20 needs some serious work. While showering lost 90% of the water. Not cool when trying to rinse off soap. Very hard to adjust the water temp in shower. Should have mini fridge up on a pedestal for ease of getting stuff. Was surprised at all the kitchen utensils that were in unit. Had to spray door hinges due to squeak. Location was great, could use some serious landscaping as far as the overgrown bushes and vines growing in that area. Going down to the Blvd was great, but the return trip needed some more effort.Rooms: Cottages are dated, 1940s, but very clean. Bathroom could stand to get updated.Walkability: Great area to walk around and see the sites up close. No crowds so it was nice.

we have been coming to Half moon every summer for the past 5 years and this is my all time time favorite place. It just feels like home away from home. The rooms and cottages are clean and adorable. The staff is beyond amazing and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back next summer !

This place is the best in New England for anyone looking for an affordable vacation, especially with the kids. The view is my number one reason! I don't think there's a better view of winnipesaukee from any angle or from any other location. Seriously, this place has the best view! The second reason is that from the moment apoun arrival, you feel at home, either in a squeaky clean cabin or a convenient hotel room. My third reason and probably the most important, it's the staff. You can tell that each and every person employed by half moon is happy to work there as they all possess an ownership mentality and treat customers with the utmost respect. The maintenence manager steve goes above and beyond to keep this place in top shape. The giant pool is always crystal clear and refreshing as can be, The rooms are spotless, the flowers are watered every day, the grass is mowed and well kept. There's full-time security. They take their job very seriously, but also ask if you need anything when running to the store like a neighbor would. I could go on and on about it really. I guess I found my perfect vacation spot. The only negative thing about this post is that more people will have a chance to rent my favorite cabin on my desired dates.Safety: Full time securityWalkability: 2 minute walk to peir, 5 minute walk to weirs beach, 1 minute walk to nearest restaurant

Walking distance of everything!! Walked to arcade safely with 4 kids. King size pool, friendly staff, amazing view, clean rooms, smelt great, & balcony with amazing views. It's overlooking Wiers Beach, Train station, and boardwalk attractions. Couldn't have asked for a better spot. Great place, and will continue to return, as I have each summer.

The best part of this location is their charming check in staff.Don’t be fooled by the images on the website, they were obviously taken years ago.Though we were hoping to enjoy some time with nature, the virtual insectropolis climbing all over the walls and beds was a bit much for us.The pool is a sea of cracked concrete with weeds growing everywhere. The surrounding fence is well, a tetanus nightmare waiting to happen. Cottages are surrounded by broken lattice and trees growing up from beneath and through it.Though they claim to welcome you to bring your own portable grill, don’t. There is no designated grilling area, the ground is not even close to level and you will be subjected to constant harassment by the on-site “security”.It was hard to overlook the 24-7 waft of ciggarette smoke in the air and nearly impossible to sleep with motorcycle traffic up and down Tower street. The walkable activities leave much to be desired, though a short drive will get you to some really great places to eat and have fun. This is not the place for families, and if you have to stay here, 3 days is more than enough.

I don't think this place has ever been updated since it's been built. Our room smelled, the velvet couch had a stain on it, you could see outside all around the door, the sink was full of bugs in the morning. Got some advice for the owners, get blackout curtains, amongst other things. Needless to say, we won't be back.

I arrived here mid-week at the end of the season (mid-October), so it was fairly quiet and somewhat deserted. The motel room was adequate, though dated, and there were a few amenities that were nice to have (a small fridge/freezer and a microwave, both of which came in handy, and a coffee maker, iron, and hairdryer, none of which I used). There was tons of storage space in the room. A few minor annoyances included the lack of a wall switch for the lights (when entering the room at night), no table, numerous pieces of furniture with very hard and protruding corners that I kept bumping into (the exposed bed frame, the nightstand, etc.), and a lot of hard surfaces in general (cement walls, hardwood floor, the aforementioned furniture) that made it lack warmth. While the room had lots of pillows, I didn't find any of them comfortable to sleep on, and therefore didn't sleep well. The mattress I found overly soft, and if you got too close to the side you would kind of slide off. There was a sign saying the rooms were serviced twice a week, but I don't know which days those were. During my four-night stay, I didn't notice that anyone had been in the room to service it. This, however, was fine with me as I had plenty of towels and such (and you can put them outside for replacements). The place was a bit noisy in the morning (adjacent guests talking loudly, plumbing noises) for those who like to sleep in a bit (forget it!) The view was very nice, and there are chairs and a table outside in front of each unit. There is an air conditioner and a baseboard heater. There is a Cumberland Farms within walking distance (if you can make it up that massive hill, which had me huffing and puffing pretty severely). The location is pretty convenient overall to main routes, and the nearby town of Meredith has a large grocery store, a Dunkin', restaurants, etc. It wasn't until my last day that I realized the Weirs Beach boardwalk was right around the corner within walking distance, but, as it turned out, there really wasn't anything there to excite me much. Parking was no problem for me, but I can see how it might be in-season, though they say there is a spot for each person. Oh, another annoyance was that it rained two of the days I was there, and the rain came down hard right outside my door (gutter problem apparently) so loudly that I thought it was coming in the room. Would I stay here again? Maybe. But I would also probably look around and explore other options too.

All in all we had a good time. The view is fantastic and the room is decent enough. The location is perfect for getting around the arcades and the beach although the parking situation is horrendous. We have a big vehicle and we had to park up against the door to get into our room. Even with that though we enjoyed it.

We've been here before, and will keep coming back. The cottages are clean and simple, the staff is fantastic and respond quickly to requests, the location could not be more convenient. But seriously - that view!?!? Yah, every room has that, and it's amazing. Watch the sun rise; watch the sun set, and in between you do stuff. That's what vacations are all about.
