“This place is a gem I gave it an extra star for the Tuesday lady that was working on Wednesday ;) June 26, 2024 .So sorry I forgot her name . She was so informative and knowledgeable for all the sea questions we had non related to the shop lol she was better than a tour guide . Also a friend costumer walked in and gave us recommendations for supper at the local starboard galley which was s’efforça le and totally fresh! Chowder was like my grandma from NB yum. Back to the shop.. lol the prices are really reasonable with a mixture of local crafts/vendors and antiques. Sorry about long review but I loved it”
“Just went in here (on their 3rd birthday), these ladies are SUCH DOLLS! The store is curated beautifully and it was such a nice experience looking around in the nooks and crannies. It’s not overfilled though, which I’m sure is tricky to do with antiques. Great store! ?”
“The ladies that run the place are nice, and the selection is always fun. What surprised me was the first time I came in, they knew I wasn't local (at the time) and chatted me up a bit. Next time I came in was 10 months later, and they remembered me!Some random person that came in nearly a year ago and was there for maybe 30 minutes, and they remember me as I walk in. Felt very nice!”

186 Water St, Exeter“This little shop is always changing, with a new theme and fresh inventory. I browse often, find wonderful accents for decorating my cottage, and appreciate the fair pricing. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. One of my favorite places to browse and shop!”

141 Bridge Rd, Salisbury“Best consignment shop I've ever been to! So much to choose from and all high end! Tops, bottoms, jackets, coats, shoes, pocketbooks, and gloves(new) and lots of fantastic jewelry and even special items for the home! Staff is extremely friendly! I never miss a visit when in the area!”
“Recently got a new television for our living room and we didn't want to hang it on the wall like we normally do so I spent weeks looking for the perfect console and stumbled upon this one. It fit the bill and checked all the marks. Not only is it gorgeous, but it is heavy duty. Real wood inside and out - no corners cut. Got it delivered in a large box safely packed and it took only 10 minutes to assemble with no issues unlike some other big box furniture stores. This particular piece is part of certain line of products they carry and if we had more space I would be going back to get the full matching set. Buy it for life furniture at a reasonable/competitive price. 10/10”
“Beautiful selection and prices! Very clean and easy to manage while trolling the racks...not overwhelming with "stuff"...just called to put a sweater on hold-can't want to get it!”

2458 Lafayette Rd, Portsmouth“I really enjoy visiting on weekends! The employees are really kind and the clothes are arranged so well. I have loved seeking out vintage clothes since I was a child so it’s always exciting to be able to find things accurately placed. I have found so many wonderful vintage things here - I kind of didn’t want to post here because I don’t want someone getting to them before me lol!”
“My husband and I have bought many items from this store.
I was so sad to see some of these reviews.
Firstly, the back half of the store is run by Cyndi and a large portion of sales is donated to breast cancer research. Cyndi will dress you head to toe in vintage and classic garb. She's always full of laughs and smiles. She will easily brighten your worst day.
Secondly, Cam, the owner of the antiques and lighting is exceptionally knowledgeable and kind.
I always look forward to sharing a smile and learning something new.
I hope that moving forward people will take the time to get to know Cam before writing a negative review that could impact the success of his store and decrease the breast cancer research donations.
In a time when our society is so focused on acceptance, these reviews were so quick to criticize.”
“I am a regular reseller at Plato's and just want to give these hard working gals at Plato's Portsmouth a good review after stumbling upon these reviews! There is a learning curve to selling at Plato's. They want clothes that appeal to their audience which is very young. I see so many offended sellers in these reviews and I feel like in some cases, there is a simple misunderstanding of the business model here. The store is full of teenaged shoppers. They will buy an oversized sweatshirt from American Eagle over a high end cashmere sweater...because that is what sells there. lululemon items are like gold. There doesn't need to be judgement added to what they take or don't take. Bring higher end items to a higher end consignment shop. A lot of times, when there is overstock in a particular size, they will ask you to bring the items back next time. I always check the store's instagram story before bringing in items. I try my best to bring in items that were in stores within the past 3 years. Many brands have the season and year on the inside tag, not the size tag at the top but the other tag within the body of the garment. The store is constantly needing to adjust hours due to being understaffed. The staff that stays works hard. I find the staff to almost always be lovely, especially the staff that has been there for a long time. As a regular in the store I can say I see on almost every visit a hopeful seller coming in who is completely clueless to the process there and they often get snippy with the staff simply because as consumers they didn't have an understanding of how things work there even when the staff member is politely explaining things for what could be the 20th time that day. I can see where that could be hard to deal with especially for the youngest staff members there. I love selling and shopping for my teens at Plato's Portsmouth!”
“Love this place. Great selection of stuff across a wide price range. All the pieces are nicely displayed, and the staff is super helpful. I make sure to visit at least once a month because the inventory changes constantly, and I hate missing out on a piece!”
