The Upper Valley Humane Society (UVHS) is a compassionate and innovative animal shelter and companion animal resource center serving the Upper Valley region. Their three-part mission is to provide a caring shelter, enhance the quality of life for animals through programs and services, and promote the well-being of their employees as animal welfare professionals. The staff at UVHS are generally described as pleasant, polite, and deeply caring for the animals in their care. They work responsibly with rescue partners to facilitate the adoption of cats and dogs. While some customers have found the staff to be controlling or finicky at times, the majority have had positive experiences over the years and recommend the organization. Adopters have shared heartwarming stories of the animals they have welcomed into their homes, such as Smeagles (now Gabe), who found a loving forever family and learned how to be a dog from his new canine companion. The UVHS team has also been praised for the excellent care they provide to animals in need, like Maisey, Ranger, and their babies. Overall, the Upper Valley Humane Society is dedicated to inspiring compassion, reducing animal suffering, and fostering the special bond between pets and their people.
