Adorable country charm with a touch of upscale modern. We were visiting from out of town and needed our morning coffee pick-me-up. This place was perfect!

Absolutely stunned at the owner’s lack of reasonable accommodation to years-long loyal customers. We did a lot of business at School Street Cafe and have many happy memories made over a nice muffin and coffee shared with loved ones. Couldn’t be more disappointed but that is their choice. I cannot do business with a firm that treats people this way.

We were loyal customers of School Street Cafe and have recommended them many times over as well as done countless business with them but, today, that has sadly come to an end. It had become our family tradition to go every week and enjoy a muffin, when they were available. Two out of three of us are gluten free and finding gluten free items that taste like they aren’t is not easy. We live about 25 minutes away from the cafe and have called ahead before to see what was gluten free only to get there after the drive to find there was nothing left. Ok, no problem, we started calling ahead and asking the items to be put aside. For years this was done happily for us but, today, we have been told it is now their ‘policy’ to not set items aside, even if we pay for them. We made sure to speak directly with the owner so they could make the decision for their business. They would rather lose our loyal patronage than allow us to pay ahead of time for the items we want. That isn’t really first come first serve, is it? This is very poor customer service and we cannot support a business that treats its customers that way. Very sad and disappointed. Also, to be clear, we didn’t just frequent the Cafe for pastries. We frequented it for lunch, and many of their special events. We will continue to speak of the Cafe but now it will not be as a recommendation. Does good customer service even exist anymore?

I’m stunned that after years of loyal weekly patronage (and driving from a far distance to do so) that School Street Cafe’s owner called me to say ‘Sorry, but we will not set aside gluten-free pastries any longer because (after routinely setting aside our order) we are adopting a first come, first served policy’ we live a long enough distance away that it is not at all practical to drive nearly 50 minutes just to be told ‘Sorry but we just sold out!’ This was our regular Saturday morning family ritual to have pastries and coffee at School Street. We had lunch there plenty, as well. We explained the situation to the owner and gave her the opportunity to hear her customer’s feedback and to choose whether or not she wanted to keep us as regular customers, she said “I’m sorry you feel that way.” Really? That’s incredibly customer unfriendly but it is her choice. We are disappointed and will miss the good times we enjoyed at School Street Cafe. To the owner: I hope it was worth it to you to lose a loyal customer over something so basic, so easy.

This is an adorable little restaurant, their sandwiches are very good but they have a very small selection so don't go with someone who is super picky. They have an outdoor eating area that is very nice. It's all inside an old farmhouse decorated in a comfy cozy atmosphere. Gotta try the sourdough bread, so good!!Parking: Small parking area with more out backWheelchair accessibility: There is a ramp up to the restaurant
