Update: They say they just got a license to operate as a pantry at the new pantry location (the Tinkham Ave building which has a big Salvation Army sign and looks like its been there a while), but they have no food yet thats why its not open yet and they claim they have no staff just cuz they moved that to the main building. They act like a small church, they are an international organization. Theres a Salvation Army in Londonderry UK to put it in perspective. They could have at least posted an announcement or information on their website about working on getting a pantry license for the tinkham ave building and having no staff now whatsoever (Why? Because they fired everyone?) but that would be embarrassing. I had to walk a mile there and back. Not one staff? Not even to answer the phone? This company is global.--------This place is a scam, always closed. They are not giving out food donations, there is no pantry despite whats listed online. The Salvation Army gets the most funding and donations out of everybody but when I came for the food pantry no-one was there, both the main office Tinkham ave and Folsom rd, doors locked, not one staff there at 9:30 am on a Tuesday, noone answering phone, mailbox full cant leave a message. Nobody waiting for the pantry as if everyone knows there isnt one, except one lady who like me never went before. Small churches in Derry are pulling all the weight running reliable food pantries with very meager donations, but the Salvation Army is doing nothing for the community, it should be illegal. Donate to ST Thomas Aquinas, The First Baptist church or The Upper Room instead, they are helping the poor on practically nothing, while Salvation Army which gets most support and funding, does nothing. Despicable.

I love the Salvation in Derry because they really done care who you are, what color, gender, political affiliation, your relationship status, and they don’t care what you identify as! All they TRULY care about is HELPING those in need! All of negative publicity is just ppl utilizing there 1st amendment right to free speech, y’all just gotta remember that NOT everything you read ONLINE is TRUE!! I Can write an article and post it right now saying there were bright green men in my backyard last night and we sang songs and danced, but it doesn’t mean it’s true! My point is simple check the facts before you make up your mind about an organization that’s helped hundreds of thousands of ppl over decades! I highly recommend talking to the Lieutenants because they know there facts and if they don’t know they will find out for you! Have a blessed day y’all! And remember don’t believe everything you read (except for this) lol

We all have a common goal in mind and that is to learn more in how to better serve The Lord. All of the members are sincere, honest, loyal and the first ones to be there to help others in need. We also share in many fun times together. Newcomers are always made to feel welcome. Lastly I think you would love meeting our new Lts Tyler & Sojourney plus their handsome little boys. God Bless

People share the love of Jesus Christ and no one is turned away. If you want to go and be part of the church, then you are accepted for who you are, to reach your full potential that God has planned for you. In my experience, everyone is celebrated as a child of God worthy of love and attention and respect at the Salvation Army! Almost everywhere else in our society, there are always individuals that are “left out†of the group. Not so here!
