I was tested on my belay in order to climb, I was then told I technically performed the skill correctly, but I didn’t use the technique that they like. Staff failed to inform me what that technique is.I was told I was not able to use the facility, as you’re only allowed one test per day. But in the same conversation I was told I could maybe test in an hour or so.Staff was overall pretentious, couldn’t be bothered to explain anything. Very bizarre facility.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a concerning experience I had at NH Climbing and Fitness. I had purchased a 7-day pass and, on the 7th day, was called down to the front desk. An employee told me my contract had expired and tried to charge me $20 for a day pass.I knew my pass was still valid, so I showed him my receipt, counted the 7 consecutive days, and confirmed its validity. However, he insisted I needed to pay and called the manager. Even after speaking with the manager for 20 minutes, they continued to try and charge me, stating my membership began the day I paid online for my pass. Eventually, they agreed it was valid. This experience felt like a scam attempt, and it's important for all members to be aware. If you're ever called down after checking in and told your 7-day pass is expired, please check your receipts and compare the contract expiration date on their computer. Also, I encourage the staff to be vigilant about their manager's actions potentially involving illegal activity. For those who may have faced similar issues, I suggest reporting it to the NH attorney general. Unfortunately, when I tried to address the manager about the incident, I was banned from the gym. Let's ensure our community remains transparent and fair for everyone. #NHclimbing #FitnessAlert #StayInformed

This gym is a gem for climbers. Some of the best set routes in the country. Under an hour drive from Rumney and Pawtuckaway, so it is a great alternative if you get rained out at the crag. That staff are sweet and easygoing and there are climbs for everyone, beginnner to expert. The first floor is accessible, with ramp access to the main climbing floor. There is one flight of stairs to the second floor where there is a small climbing area, fitness equipment, and yoga studio.

Pretty good gym. Great lead climbing, but not much bouldering. As far as training goes, it's not stellar. There are no good boards or spray walls, and the hangboards are generic and beginner-oriented.The community is awesome, however, and what the gym lacks in training tools to push you to the next level is (partially) made up for in psych and hard make-ups. If you don't expect modern training accouterments, you'll have a great time!

They use a taping system to identify routes versus the monochromatic color-matched holds. Combined with an over-use of footholds, this creates a really confusing wall. Every gym I’ve been to in US uses the color-matching holds, so this system may just need some getting used to, but the few times I’ve been to this gym have left me uninspired and frustrated trying to map out my routes. Especially difficult locating footholds from the top view, since the tape is at the bottom of the holds. There are also no down climb holds in the bouldering area. For 15-20 foot walls, this is really dangerous.Seems like an underfunded gym, so hopefully they will make improvements soon to attract more climbers. It is the only option in central NH, so I hope for those of us that travel a long distance to get there, there is some investment back into the facility.

Decent sized gym, bouldering area relatively small. My biggest complaint is the route grading is terribly inconsistent, both for bouldering and top-roping. Routes themselves are always well-set and fun, just rate them what they actually are.

I wish I could give this 0 stars. Every time I've tried to come here, the gym is closed early for some event or another.I keep hearing about how fantastic this place is, yet I've never been able to go inside.

Don't get scammed by the manager. I recently relocated to NH from the west coast and have been an avid bouldering enthusiast for 15 years. This is the only climbing gym in the area so naturally I went to check it out and bought the 2 week punch card promotion with free top rope class. On first impression evo is a beautifully constructed climbing gym that is primarily catered to top rope. I was disappointed that the bouldering area seemed to be an afterthought. The second thing I noticed was that this gym is absolutely FILTHY. Chalk everywhere, every surface is coated with a layer of chalk the climbing holds are caked with chalk and grime. There seems be no daily cleaning being done despite the numerous amount of staff members on the floor. You can't sit on bouldering mats without being covered in chalk. This place is a COPD hazard. I was still going to sign up for a monthly membership despite these issues. However, on the last day of my 2 week pass I was called down to the front desk on the intercom. I wasn't sure why, but the employee notified me that his boss told him that my pass had already expired and I need to pay $20 for a day pass. This wasn't correct, I asked to speak with him and he insisted that my trial began the moment I paid online several days before actually starting my 2 weeks. After 20 minutes of explaining the terms of my contract to the manager and showing him what 14 consecutive days means, he eventually said that my contract was indeed still valid. The ordeal took so long I was late for work and I never got to ask if this mistake was due to the manager being incompetent, or if he was trying to commit contract fraud. I went back to speak with him in person and he denied any accountability and started becoming belligerent and banned me for life while screaming and cursing me out the door for questioning him. If you are a member, know the terms of your contract and if this happened/happens to you please report it to the NH attorney general. If you are a staff member, if the manager asks you to do something illegal, say no and tell him to go clean the walls. If you are the owner of this establishment, you need a new manager.

Great climbing gym. Expansive and well laid out bouldering area and a large number of tall walls to climb with varying difficulties and inclines. Fitness equipment on the 2nd floor, but I didn't even go up there. :)

NH Climbing is one of my favorite gyms to do group programs at. Mark is accommodating and collaborative! The facilities are clean, and the staff are professional/helpful. I would highly recommend this gym.

I am a very experienced and dedicated climber and have gone here on an off for 8 years, but finally decided to just start driving another 45 mins to Boston to a modern gym with good route setting, modern hold sets, and actual systems training boards. This gym could be so much better, but it is obvious the owners have no interest in improvements,. The route setting leaves a lot to be desired and the amount of tape on the walls is more confusing than it is helpful. I feel sorry for the setters here in that they are obviously not getting what they need from the owners to set proper routes and boulders. Go to a modern gym, such as any of the CRG gyms in Boston and then tell me if you don't agree with me.
