So, I was looking to sell my car. And, Joe and his girlfriend, reached out, with interest in buying it from me. I brought it to them and my mom met me there, in case I needed a ride home, should they go through with the purchase. Joe looked it over and took it for a test drive. Upon his return, he told me that there were quite few problems and that he couldn't buy it, for what I was asking. He said, that most of the issues were minor and that it was still a pretty solid and safe vehicle, should i just put about $600 into repairs. And, he said, if i did go have the work done, that he would give me the full $1500. I was super discouraged. But, I appreciated how genuine and straightforward he was. Before my mom and I knew it, we were sitting in the office and he was taking time out of his busy schedule, to talk with us about what our options were and giving me endless advice, regarding potentially selling it, what it could look like if I kept it and showing genuine concern regarding the next vehicle, I had already invested some money in and was buying.
The one thing, that got me, the most, was that I was explaining how the car I was purchasing, once I sold the vehicle I currently had, was said to just need an alternator and that every other shop, was quoting me at over $700 for the service. Joe stopped me, right there and said, that they were way overcharging me and that he does that service for $100. I couldn't even believe it.
So, even though, I was unable to make the sale with them, I felt that it wasn't nearly a wasted trip!
Fast forward to this morning, I happened upon someone, who desperately needed a good vehicle. I was up front and honest about the situation and the things that were wrong. And, the person who was interested, just so happened to have their own family run, full service auto body and mechanics shop! She only asked that I take $200 off of my original price and drove it away!
Even better, I now have a place, where I know my next vehicle, will be safely and honestly taken care of. So, I will be having our new vehicle, towed to his shop.
So, not only, was I given insight that made it possible, for me to inform the buyer of our other vehicle, of what they were actually getting themselves into and still get what i needed out of the situation, but, I also ended up, with a place I can trust 100% for all of my future auto repairs!!

2024 I had no previous Knowledge or Experience with Turps Auto or Joe prior to me doing business. I found them here on Google. I had a great experience! And Joe went over and above for me. I would definitely recommend this place especially if you are looking for a value priced used vehicle. Here is my story. My employer no longer supplied work vans to take home due to rise in fuel. The transmission in my personal vehicle went out and was ridiculously expensive to fix.I was suddenly without a way to work. I went looking for a vehicle around the area and found Terps but there were not many vehicles present at the lot. I did make a deal on a vehicle that he had there in the lot. Before I picked up the vehicle he did a final inspection and decided he did not want to sell the vehicle because he found issues with the car and felt it was not ok to sell, Honest right. So I was back to square 1. With my money back I asked him if he was interested in my Sienna with a broken transmission . He gave it a look and found the same as me that the new transmission was to much and offered to bring it to auction for me..He got a good price for my van and sent pics of other vehicles at the auction . I saw one I liked. It needed some small work . muffler and alternator. Joe and I worked out a deal for the car and the work needed with the money from my trade in and a small amount of cash. I did my due diligence after the sale and changed fluids and filters. The Volvo I bought had 183k and runs drives and shifts like new . It has minor cosmetic things which I care less about for the price. Joe has a good eye for finding reliable vehicles models. His shop is very clean and organized. Joe is willing to work with you if you work with him. He updated me daily through the whole process. I will definitely buy another vehicle from him. Thank you Joe, You really helped me out of a bind.

I have been looking for years in claremont for a honest Mechanic. You know one that doesnt over charge you. One that doesn't try to fix things without asking you to make the bill higher. Definitely one that gives you a estimate and it's within the estimate price. Plus , a mechanic that gets the job done the right way the first time. After going to most of the other ones on here in claremont. After having Astex lie about putting a rack in and still charged me for it. After having Jim's charge me double from what they quoted me, I finally found T&J Auto. Hands down the most honest and reliable mechanic around. He will definitely be my mechanic from now on. I finally found a honest one. Thank you T&J Auto

Would not recommend. Purchased a vehicle for my 16 y.o. son that was advertised as AWD, and turned out to not be. Tried to get him to do the right thing and he would not. He just wanted me to spend more money with him. I filed a report with the BBB as well. I thought I was finally dealing with someone I could trust, but turned out I was wrong. Very disappointed that my son spent all of his savings on a car that was falsely advertised.

Joe gets a five star from me. No pressure at all! I called ahead to make sure the car I was interested in was still there and Joe kindly informed me it was there.Just like he said, the car was there! He was honest and told me the car wasn’t perfect “ a vehicle with 230k miles”. I did not expect it to be perfect.Everything he told me was true and transparent! The car is still running great and drives 20 miles every day 4 times a week. All I’ve done to it is an oil change and put gas in!

Joe is super at communicating! My daughter's first car was purchased from Joe at Turp's. She loves it! Joe kept in constant communication with us, sending us pictures of the car at every angle, which was really important for us since we were coming from a long distance. He let us know about any cosmetic and mechanical issues prior to coming in. Bought an 05 Santa Fe the ad said nothing about the crack along the whole bottom of the windshield, it also stated it was 4WD and it’s NOT, said it would pass inspection but the air bag light was on so it won’t, I’ve had the car for 8 weeks and the battery light, brake light, ABS and TCS light all popped on yesterday and the car died on me today. The only reason it’s not getting one star is it lasted longer than the last car someone sold me. I would not recommend going back here unfortunately.

Bought. 05 Subaru that has nothing but problems that were hidden from me. Then sent me to a mechanic in Claremont that had no power steering fluid to add to my car, he told me to go to advance auto and get some. Fortunately good shops still exist, kinetic in hamstead is going to go through everything for me. I would steer clear of this place and places joe recommends.

Found a car I loved at Turp’s Auto. Got it registered. Had a problem with it almost immediately. But Joe when above and beyond for me and I ended up with a more reliable car because he was able to sell my truck for me so I could afford it!
