We love going here. Dr. Smiley has always been so pleasant to deal with and makes our big baby very comfortable. They are also very efficient and reasonable which is getting very hard to find nowadays.

10/10 Recommended veterinary clinic of all of New Hampshire. Dr. Smiley was able to treat my cat with the proper vaccine for rabies and was able to check both his front legs for any broken bones or torn muscle or joint pains. He said that it had to have been a sprained shoulder blade because he’s walking perfectly normal again. Before he was limping. Thank God. You guy’s are the best!

When my vet in VT (who I traveled 2 hours for apts for 20 years) retired during Covid, I was terrified of going to a new vet. I heard all of the stories about the ridiculous bills in NH vets and was told that you were not even allowed to be with your animal for most of the yearly exam. I refuse to let anyone take either of my dogs "out back". One is terrified of the world and the other is a 100 plus pound dog who can twirl most people around like a sack of potatoes. I had spent the last year looking at people's recommendations for vets and Dr. Smiley kept coming up. When I called to get answers to questions, his wife was extremely helpful and patient in answering everything. One of my concerns was that he would retire soon and sell out like all of the other small vets are doing. She assured me that their son was keeping the practice and that I would like him. This will be my 5th year using them. I have had Dr. Smiley twice and the son twice and my fearful dog allows them both to examine her without shaking and without showing her teeth which is almost unheard for her. The big guy loves everyone and the son grants him tons of butt rubs which makes his day. The whole practice is friendly, helpful and the cost is very comparable to what I paid in VT which is about a 1/3 of what people are paying to these vet offices that were bought out by big corporations. The office is very a "old feel" vet office but welcoming. They don't have examining tables so they get down with your animal which makes mine feel much more comfortable. I don't know why they get bad reviews as I have had nothing but good experiences and can see they both know what they are doing and do it well. No one has ever been hostile but maybe it is cause I don't go in looking for a fight. I don't leave messages. I just call back till they have time to answer the phone.

We’ve taken all our dogs to Dr. Smiley for many years and have always been happy with the care our dogs received. Dr. Smiley always took his time to thoroughly exam each dog, explain in detail if there was something going on and never did any of the “extras” so many other vet offices guilt you into doing. Most of all, his prices were fantastic! Since he moved his practice everything has gone down hill in service and in the care for our dogs.
A few months back our dog had an abscess in his mouth, my husband called and was given an appointment. He shows up to the appointment, Dr. Smiley looks him over like he would for a regular exam, gives him a rabies shot and then proceeds to tell my husband to take him to the emergency room because he doesn’t have time to lance and drain it!!! My husband was stunned our dog is clearly in pain and he did nothing to help him! We didn’t bring the dog in for a quick look over and rabies we brought him in because his face was so swollen!!
Today my husband called because our other dog is constipated and needs to be seen, he was told to take her to the emergency vet because there isn’t anything they can do for her!! People have a vet so they don’t have to go to the emergency vets for anything non-emergent, and you’ll be charged hundreds of dollars just walking through the door!!
We are so disappointed and disgusted with how are dogs were treated and we will not be going back to Dr. Smiley!
If caring for animals is no longer a priority then maybe it’s time to close the practice!

Unfortunately, this place has lost it. They truly don’t care anymore. Our 10 year old dog has now bitten 3 people within the last year, one resulting in facial reconstructive surgery and the most recent was my father. We have a 7 month old baby at home and have made the difficult decision that he needs to be euthanized. My husband called Dr. Smiley and was instead given the name of a trainer to contact. My husband then called and spoke with this trainer who assured us we were making the right decision by euthanasia. My husband then tried contacting Dr. Smiley again, left a voicemail, and never received a call back. We gave it another week and a half before I called. Again, got a voicemail. Called again today and guess what, got a voicemail. This is prolonging an extremely difficult time and they truly just do not care. We are switching vets. Please look elsewhere before bringing your loved one here.
Editing to add this EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude email that I received after transferring to another vet. They are straight up lying through their teeth in this email. PLEASE don’t go here.

This vet is unprofessional. They do not return calls. It is so difficult getting them on the phone to make an appointment. They have false records saying my compliance was not good and didn't show up for appointments and are terrible at customer service; downright hostile. There is no follow-through. The younger vet cannot get blood for a small blood test without causing harm to my dog because he is inexperienced. They will not hold a reasonable conversation and if they encounter any accountability or answering questions, they will discontinue your service. I originally went to them because they were common sense during covid and would stand to reason. Something has happened.

The receptionist was extremely rude and stated “I can’t do this today” and hung up on me. I was not rude to this woman and she stated that she could not forward my pets records to a new vet because I owed a balance, which I DO NOT! A family member not in my household has accrued a balance which is not mine. She was extremely rude and acted very unprofessional but this is not something new. The few times I have brought my cat there they have been rude to me. I do not recommend this place at all!
