I want to write a note of thanks to show my gratitude to Derek Cooper , General Manager, CARSTAR Shediac

On vacation to Shediac NB the last two weeks of August 24, with my wife and grandaughter, i had the misfortune of a back window blowout in my Kia Suv. I had it replaced in Edmunston and back on the road East to Shediac in no time. There was still glass in the hatch door but i was thankful to have the window replaced to continue my vacation. A few days before departing for home in Ontario the back door latch stopped working, wouldnt lock and the dash was flashing OPEN OPEN..
I drove to a kia dealership who had no appointments for several weeks but would sell me the latch $400, if i could have someone install it. I tried several Canadian Tire automotive departments Every auto shop was fully booked and no one could offer an appointment before my departure date,
i was directed to CARSTAR Shediac by the muffler shop on Main street, and told to ask for Derek, he may be able to help. I spoke to Derek, explained my predicament and he agreed to at least look at the lock issue, but couldn’t guarantee he could fix it as he was also booked solid for several weeks. I explained i could get the part from Kia the next morning for $400 which Derek seemed to choke on

I had only talked about what i thought was a broken lock but Derek knew as soon as i opened the back hatch that the window had been broken.. He analyzed the situation and offered the following:
He would book me in the next morning to take the door panel apart and likely correct the malfunctioning lock without the need to replace it. As a backup plan, Derek called a local auto wrecker to source the part for a third of the price of a new lock. (OMG this guy is a professional and a Saint) We agreed to meet the next morning and he would fit me in between jobs.
Well before noon the next day, Derek had resolved the issue by removing the glass left from the broken window and returned the part to his source. Due to Dereks knowledge of cars and professional approach, this Ottawa family was on the road home, safe, with a fully functional locking back latch, just as Derek had promised.
His price was also very reasonable for the timing and the work he performed. The peace of mind he brought my family and I, I am eternally grateful to Derek Cooper and his staff at CARSTAR Shediac
I would definitely recommend CARSTAR Shediac to anyone needing auto repairs, this GM is knowlegable, fair and a great guy to deal with.
