Was planning on coming to St Andrew’s to stay at the Algonquin and take in some of the winter festival with my fiancéeBefore I arrived I was searching for some fine dining on the reviews for restaurants in the area and the reviews for Windsor House popped out. As fate would have it, they had a 5 course meal that was being offered during the festival.I can say that the reviews were not inflated. Food was awesome, service was excellent and the charm of Windsor House was an experience that is hard to put into wordsJay and his team made us feel welcome and assured me that as long as we are kind that it did not matter which fork we used. Can’t go wrong experiencing the Windsor House

#1, They have an amazing chef, Chef Peter, who has an impressive resume, and an obvious love of his trade as it shows in the absolutely incredible dinners he prepares.
#2: The owner, Jay Remer, makes you feel like you're an old friend. He's laid back, and an absolute pleasure to talk with. He is the consummate host.
#3 The rooms are beautifully decorated, and well equipped. Our room 6, was huge and the king sized bed was amazingly comfortable.
All in all, a stay at this wonderful inn is a must if you want to have a relaxing getaway. You won't regret it.

This was one of the best meals we have eaten in a long time! We heard about Windsor House after our arrival in St. Andrew’s and decided to give it a try. What a lovely evening! The setting was beautiful, elegant and relaxing. The meal was out of this world, and we had a hard time picking just a few dishes. They were superbly cooked and plated with only the freshest and finest ingredients, and each had a something out of the ordinary about them. The host, along with the staff, were welcoming and attentive, and made just enough conversation to make it feel like home. The chef consulted readily on selection and taste. It was a wonderful evening, and we are already looking forward to another visit!

Not only did I have a wonderful dinner at The Windsor House this evening, but I made a great find: First Light Coastal Cream Liqueur (from Hanwell, NB), which my partner declares to be better than Bailey's Irish Cream! (He also loves the name.) Windsor House proprietor Jay Remer is currently offering "Small Plates" by Chef Peter Woodworth, eclectic, modest-sized dishes that can act as appetizer or main meal or anything you like. In addition to a bottle of one of our favourite Chilean wines, Casillero del Diablo, we shared a very shareable Pale Ale Cheddar Fondue with pretzels and apples and a Warm Beet Salad with spinach, horseradish aïoli and cashews. We followed up with the entrancing First Light Crème Anglaise Chocolate Torte. This seems to be a flourless torte, with a fork-standing-up texture and intense chocolate flavour, bathing in the Crème Anglaise of which every taste is just about incredible. Thank you, Jay! Not the first memorable meal on your distinguished premises, and I hope not the last by a long shot!

What an absolutely delightful evening at The Windsor House Library Bar and Restaurant. As soon as we entered we were greeted by the lovely Samantha and instantly felt welcomed.Seated in what I would call a parlour - I knew we were in for a magical evening. With drinks in hand we had lovely chats with both The Chef and Jay the owner, who could not have been nicer. The food was exceptional. We all had different plates- seafood chowder served with a touch of Sherry- best I’ve ever had. Gnocchi- obviously home made in a sage and brown butter sauce- fantastic - beef ribs with Asian noodles and a nice hit of spice, fall off the bone delicious and finally- the onion rings shared by us all, just yummy (2 orders yummy). We have found our favourite restaurant in St.Andrews by the Sea and can’t wait to come back again and again.

Loved, loved, loved this place! It's the kind of spot that beckons to the traveler in you. It's a historic spot and the collections and oddities within are equally so with a smattering of modernity here and there to add to the uniqueness of the inside. My wife and I had such a lovely time speaking with the owner and the bartender that evening. As was often stated, Jay mentioned it was the first time they met someone from Mongolia and we then had the greatest chats. You never know who is going to come through the library bar's doors, but you can expect every kind of person. It feels like a place where anything could happen and an environment where you never know what you'll learn next as the conversations flow from history to art to partying to food to world travel and everything in between. We also had a slice of the blueberry pie and I still wish we bought more because it was both light and packed with blueberry goodness. We cannot wait to go back.
