No matter what country you are from, or what language you speak, at Hillside you will find refuge in God's love. Immigrating is not easy, and finding a community that welcomes you is always appreciated.

Very welcoming church in the greater Moncton area. A lot of diversity. The music is great and the sermon always gives a good message. I highly recommend visiting it if you are looking for a new church. There is always free coffee and they have very affordable donuts and muffins plus today as they are celebrating their 50th anniversary they gave everybody free churros!

I was taken to this church several years back by a member of the congregation under false pre-tenses that it was a kind and warming place where I could find a sense of community. However, I was shocked that she told the pastor (Jerry Reddy) that I have a "perceived disability" (or that she thinks I have one). After the service, she wanted me to shake hands with Pastor Jerry. I was the last one to shake hands, at which time he said "you are deep".I said I did not know what he meant by that, he said for example that "he is shallow".I still didn't understand what he meant so asked again. He explained to me he knows everything about me because this mutual acquaintance told him my entire life story. He said my life is very interesting. I didn't appreciate that very much, as I had thought for one that priests and pastors owe some amount of privacy to their parishioners and the general public. Not only was it not appropriate to discuss such matters publicly in front of other people in the hallway; in addition, he should refrain from discussing personal matters about someone else via a third person or hearsay. Gossiping is not a virtue of Christianity that I'm aware of. He wanted to talk about it more right there, and I told him I liked the service itself and did not want to be rude to a pastor so I said yes. The next part was the oddest part of the entire interaction. He insisted that I step back 5 meters and answer a series of questions (keep in mind this was well before COVID or any social distancing protocols were introduced in Canada). My personal hygiene is fine and my voice is plenty loud, but he told kept telling me he can could not hear anything I was saying, gesturing like I was mute. Many days later, I would find out that he was checking to confirm if I have the purported disability; which I do not, and which is beyond offensive whether I did or did not have one. I asked: "can I just step back a bit closer, I prefer not shout in front of everybody?" but he said "no need, just talk a bit louder please". The next part shocked me most of all, he said I "look goofy when I speak from a distance, so that confirms it, you're disabled". He said that what he heard about my lack of language abilities must be true, and that I "probably can't even use proper punctuation or grammar in my native language, let alone in English". I said I didn't think the way he was speaking to me was particularly holy or Christian. He said, "ok, let's start over, you pretend to be God and we'll have a different chat". felt like this conversation was getting nowhere and he was demeaning me in unimaginable ways for a pastor of the church, so I politely asked to be excused and said to my acquaintance that I don't think I can attend this church anymore. In case that wasn't bad enough he said "no matter what you say, your kids will end up like you or worse, you have no power to help elevate them how sad". This terrible experience turned me off from organized religion completely. Although I pursue the word of god on my own now, it's almost like experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder when I think about entering a church again. The Hillside church community would do well to avoid this charlatan who is constantly hawking for money and willing to so quickly judge or condemn people. I hope they realize what a phoney he is and send him to an early retirement, in favour of a different pastor. Even still, I don't think I can attend a mass here again.

I visited today, April 02, 2023. A beautiful Facility. My daughter, her husband and my grand children attend here. The Grandchildren have found it a great help in their Christian living. They love the encouragement, fellowship and growth they have received. They have received Christ as Savior and look forward to being with their church family. Like the old Hymn sang, "what a Wonderful change in my life You have wrought; since Jesus came into my heart".

One of their pastors (Dave Steeves), also a city councillor, is on record talking about the area's struggles with homelessness and addiction: "If we do make it difficult to live on our streets, they may eventually want to go somewhere else other than Moncton."We were looking for a place to worship in Moncton, but this and other warning flags point to a community leadership that only follows Christ's teachings on charity and self sacrifice when convenient, which is really important for us.Nice place though.
