Shopped here for 3 years off and on. Most deals are on expired or nearly expired stuff. Most prices no better or actually worse than Superstore or Sobeys. They do often have good deals on veggies though and some frozen stuff in bulk. So by all means get those here. Unless you don't have a car and this is one of a few stores you are picking stuff up at to save money on groceries.
Today I went in with my backpack, as I normally do, as I just bought a bunch of groceries from other stores. I was told store policy I'm not allowed my backpack in the store. This is first time in 3 years they stopped me, so ok I guess I'll leave it at customer service. Not a big deal.
Normally I'm fine with this as stores simply hold it behind customer service. It's annoying as they expect you to bring your own bags, but then tell you not allowed inside if that bag is a backpack. Either way I was willing to leave it with someone behind the counter as I do that at a few places already, but instead I was told I have to leave it outside in the main entrance unmonitored!
I laughed and replied nicely and cheerfully "Seriously? Outside? I'm not leaving over a hundred dollars in groceries outside unprotected to be taken by anyone."
I was then told I would have to leave as it's policy to leave it outside in the entrance unguarded... So I guess not getting chicken and fish there anymore.
This is a horrible policy! If I could leave it at the back counter then ok as it's being watched, but not outside the store for anyone to pickup!
I don't have a car. I walk everywhere and need my backpack to carry groceries. I am not against leaving it in a area that is attended and watched, but I'm not leaving it outside the store with stuff I bought inside! That's how things get stolen...
I was thinking of giving up shopping here anyway as deals are not very good and been finding better deals at other stores. There was a couple things I did get here like chicken and fish, but now I will simply shop elsewhere even if I have to pay more to do so.
Three years no one complained about my backpack here and now I'm thrown out for not wanting to leave it outside the store for anyone to take while I'm shopping. I didn't argue or yell or anything I just left as if they don't want my business then I'm fine not shopping there.
Once again I would have been happy to leave it behind the counter where it was watched as that's reasonable.
I do not appreciate being treated like a criminal (which I'm not and never have been) though after three years shopping there without issues and I've always been pleasant to everyone. Including today where I was mostly shocked and found it insane to leave my groceries, which only get more expensive by the week, outside the store alone! ?
While I was still pleasant in the moment the more I think about it the more I found myself angry by the time I got home.
At least install lockers out there to put it in. That would make more sense than offering it up to anyone interested in simply taking it. ?

Usually, it has great deals on certain. It's a grocery store that you should stop by often because sometimes they have great mark downs that aren't always advertised

Best prices in town on essentials and sometimes insane low prices on tasty treats. Today we got 150G of a sliced dry salami for $2, anywhere else it would be around $6-$8.

Poor selection. Not to mention some of the pricing was no different than in your regular grocery stores. If you don't know your prices you going to pay the same. But on the other hand, the cashier that checked us out was super friendly.

Weekly specials, good selection of produce unfortunately no fresh meat just frozen but the people who work there are very pleasant I go around once a week to check prices and deals they make fruit and goodie baskets for almost any celebration

For times that are tight with the economy it is a sure fire way to buy at half the cost of big grocery stores. Fast friendly and lots to choose from.

I like their produce it's fresh and they have great deals on all their food. There is also a smoke shop and a place to buy lotto tickets just inside.
