Our boys started at Excel this fall and our experience has been top notch! Our Kinder teacher is incredible. My son's overall maturity/behavior, penmanship and reading skills are already leaps and bounds advanced in just a few months of instruction and care. My Pre-K child loves going to school and his teachers are so loving and kind. They really understand little kids' needs and feelings. We considered waiting on Private Christian Education for Jr/Sr high, but we are so glad we went all-in during these young, incredibly formative years. Their little hearts and precious minds are saturated in Jesus' love all day. They are learning to process and understand their world from His view. We believe these are the years to do what it takes to surround them in God's love and truth. We're so blessed to have Excel as our kids' school here in Sparks! After reading some of the 1* reviews I have to say that the curriculum is VERY God/Jesus/Bible/Scripture focused. My Kinder kiddo memorizes a full verse each week, which is amazing! Their worksheets are Bible based. They have a scripture based, worship focused chapel each week too with some "high profile" pastors and Christian influencers in our area sharing the Word. As far as the nurse care, I got THREE calls in one day from the nurse, (two administrative thoroughly confirming my kids' Rx med protocol at school and one accident call), haha! The accident call was for a head bump (my kid collided with another in PE). She outlined exactly what happened, how they treated it and even sent a slip home with him with the same info. ZERO concerns here.

I just saw a message from Lisa Cross accusing people of saying false things about the school. I have asked Ms. Cross to contact me and she refuses. I have the facts and evidence that shows lies were told at the case I brought against them at the Sparks Justice Court and yet no one wants to address it. The students know there is a problem but they, too, are being ignored. I think this calls for a public debate. I am willing. Lisa Cross - are you?

Update: I read the reviews written by others. As regards the communication issue, that is patently false. A weekly newsletter goes out, updating parents on upcoming events, calendar changes, policy concerns etc. There are many ways for parents and guardians to stay in the loop but that only works if you read what you're sent. This school has nurse presence that far exceeds that of our local public schools. As for the tuition issue, that is untrue. The parochial schools locally are much more. I encourage anyone reading any review--positive or negative--to check out the writer's other reviews. Disclaimer again: I am a staff member and parent. This was written from a parent perspective and I in no way benefit from this review.

The decision to put my daughter in a Christian school was not one that came easy. I had been experiencing struggles with my faith, but the decision was ultimately motivated by challenges my daughter was having going to public school rather than my own beliefs. Her struggles ranged from not getting the personal attention she needed to be successful in her studies, to bullying that was never handled effectively. From day one, my child was proud attending this school and has come home with a smile just about every day. The positivity that flows through the teachers all the way up to the administration is beautiful and inspiring. My daughter has strongly accepted the Christian values in the school, but I've never felt like they've been forced upon her. She has been exposed to a variety of beliefs and her choice to accept Christianity feels like it comes from the example set by the students and teachers she is regularly exposed to who genuinely care for one another. Having been educated in a Catholic school that strongly pushed me away from faith, I can say the sense of community here and the education provided is top notch.I still experience challenges with my own faith, but I do believe in what this school is doing for my daughter and I feel much more accepting of faith based teaching now than I ever have been. I'm thankful for the opportunity to send my daughter to this school and I look forward to continuing to watch her grow as a student and as a person who believes in something greater.

No pun intended, but since coming to Excel Christian School, my daughter has excelled. She was picked on at her old school. This school pays attention to all the children and gives them the care they all need. I love this school!

Just wanted to share how engaging and caring Excel Christian School is. It definitely comes across how much the teachers and the administration truly care about the students academically, emotionally, and that they go to great lengths to provide a safe campus.

Our son attended Excel Christian, and what a wonderful Christian school it is! The Principle, Staff, and teachers are so kind and loving to all the children, an environment any parent would like to drop their child off to of an morning. Teachers are so kind and helpful with assignments and homework. They are great with keeping up with grade link and entering grade so that we always knew how he was doing, and what homework needed to be done. This school is our extended family, all the staff knows you by name and really makes you feel part of the "Big Family" and if you didn't put yourself out their and be involved in your child's education, you missed out on the great experience. Excel has many great programs to expand any child's growth in education personal growth. I love the fact that when I did have an issue, the principal was great in taking time with me, or the teachers, and TRULY listen and care about what I had to share, and not once but every time the issue was resolved in a loving way that everyone involved, grew from. I cant say enough, the love this school has for these kids, we even had a teacher call over the summer to say Hi to our son, how nice is that. I praise God for this school!! No doubt this school fills these kids hearts with love, compassion, happiness, and so much more!!! Great school!! stop shopin, pick excel, you wont be sorry, live to far away, their is a car pooling list, they have it all, even day care for your toddlers!!

There are a lot of problems at this school. When I attended there were some teachers that were nice and professional during class times, but way too interested in students' personal lives to the point where it was a tad bit inappropriate, especially if a student was dealing with their own issues. As far as being a "religious" school, there was way too much pressure and poor spiritual leadership for students who were perhaps questioning their beliefs or believed otherwise (and were forced to attend the school so they really didn't have a choice). The schooling itself was okay but nothing compared to public school standards. This school worked for some kids, but for most it was just a disaster. From personal experience, I don't recommend it.

It is really hard to review this school when they fail to respond. I was interested in taking a tour. I called and emailed. Nobody responded. Guess they are full and don't need new students. Now I learn they are merging with Legacy School.....no surprise there. They don't respond either. We have to drive our kids to Reno for shcool because of no respose from these Sparks schools.
