First let me state that the employees I interacted with were pleasant. Unfortunately, the staff at the call center are inefficient and sadly lack training.Management should also take a refresher course in customer service.

Was coming from Utah to buy a car. Had a few hiccups throughout the buying process with the seller but Bailey was able to help us out and ensure everything was right in the end. Great customer service!

I became a client once I received a car loan through America First Credit Union. The Sparks branch has a very inviting vibe to it - it is clean and well lit. The service from the staff is top notch. Chris and Bailey are awesome! While I am in the process of getting my loan paid off, I opened a checking account with them. They will continue to have me as a client for the long haul.Thank you Chris and Bailey! You guys rock!

I would avoid this credit union. Insurance issued me a check for reimbursement on repairs done to my vehicle and now they are holding my money until I show proof of such repairs when really they should have no business on how or when I repaired my vehicle.

Terrible bank. Don't ever do business with them, all they will do is make false promises and rip you off in the end, save yourself the headache and go somewhere else.

Very helpful! Our Visa card was compromised. We're on a work trip and needed our card so it was great to be able to stop in Sparks and pi k up new cards.

I'd like to just say that I am unbelievably thankful for everyone that works here and the effort that this bank has put in to helping myself and my fiance build our credit giving us opportunity. Scott Mike Lindsey if I forgetting anyone I apologize thank you so much for being human beings and doing everything possible to get us where we are so far and help us to get to where we want to be. We're a team and it feels so good to know we're going to continue to grow together. God bless everyone at this Bank hard work pays off!

they required I upload proof of insurance, when they could have gotten that information from the dealer. And then they tried to add an additional insurance to my loan despite the vehicle already being insured doubling my monthly payment. avoid them if you can

I was in the branch yesterday and was greeted by a lovely young lady named Stephanie. She immediately made me feel so welcome and let me know she was there to help, my transaction with her was smooth quick and easy. Not once did I feel rushed, we talked briefly and she explained to me the youth account for my teenage grand daughter. Thank you so much for all your help Stephanie, I look forward to your wonderful services again!

Branch manager Debbie Martin is who I recommend! First of all, this is a brand new location and is clean and fresh. The ambiance is wonderful, but the service is much better. I have been struggling for months, quite literally, to get a payoff for a car loan we have with americas first for my sons car. Accident. Yuck. I have made so many calls to the phone line to no avail, but was driving the other day and saw the branch in sparks. Yay me!! I stopped in, and Debbie was at a counter. Due to the time and frustration already given to this issue, I summarized the problem and said it most likely required a Branch Manager. She very politely said she would assist me, and called no attention to her title. She was kind and compassionate from the moment I stepped to the counter, empathizing with me about this long standing issue. She spent almost an hour with me and on the phone taking this issue on herself to personally complete for me. Some might say this is her job, but no.....I spoke with many others who looked at it that way and when I hung up it was "move to the next". Debbie followed up with me and my claims representative via email for the remainder of the week, until the papers had arrived and the claim was finalized. We ran into a few more snags this week, but she stayed the course and handled them all. I cannot express how much I am impressed by her customer service and compassion. This single incident has driven me to get an account there outside of my car loan. This is the banking expert I want when I place my money. Banks forget, we don't bank with you because of your lackluster percentage of return on our savings. No, we bank with you because of the relationships and care we receive when we need help and come to do business. Thank you so much Debbie!!

Today I checked out our new American First Credit Union in Sparks at the Legends. Beautiful building inside and out. The staff was so friendly and helpful. I received a post card about opening a checking/savings account, they would match my deposit up to 1 hundred dollars. So, I came in with my hundred bucks and walked out with 2 hundred dollars in a checking account. Great way to make a hundred dollars. You do have to keep the account open for 6 months, no problem for me.Thank you, Mandy, for making the opening checking/savings account so EASY.

They were arrogant with me. America First Credit Union mailed us an invitation to their Grand Opening. We researched them, and thoroughly read their website. I went to open a new savings account only. I told the clerk that I did not want a credit card and I did not want to open up a loan. I presented my picture US Department of Defense military id DD Form 2765 which has on it my date of birth, my signature and my rank. I also presented original identification with my address on it, as well as my original Social Security card and my picture US Department of Veterans Affairs Health id that has on it that I am a military Service-connected disabled Veteran. They accepted everything.Savings or checking account activity, including opening one, is not reported to any credit bureau. Then I was told America First Credit Union had to run my credit aka do a hard credit inquiry to open up only a savings account. A hard credit inquiry is part of the "new credit" category of the FICO scoring model and has an adverse effect on your credit score. Beware, for no where on their web site or their advertising invitation did it disclose they would do a hard credit inquiry to open a savings account only. I asked why. They said to verify no fraud. According to Experian, one of the three main credit bureaus, banks and credit unions don't check your credit score when opening these savings or checking accounts. They instead run a ChexSystems report. ChexSystems or a soft credit inquiry is what legitimate financial institutions use to verify no fraud. ChexSystems report or a soft credit inquiry has no direct impact on your credit score, while a hard credit inquiry has an adverse effect on your credit score. A hard credit inquiry is NOT what legitimate financial institutions do to only open up a savings account.I expressed my displeasure at their failure to disclose upfront at their website and in their advertising their abnormal practice of doing a hard credit inquiry of a customer for a customer to open up only a savings account. Took my business elsewhere.Did I mention they are arrogant?Why does this business have so many of their negative reviews removed?
