This community feels like home to me. My grandparents have lived at Cascades and received fantastic care and TLC. I have worked with this community in a professional manner for over 10 years and have greatly enjoyed my relationship with the team and leadership. Wonderful team and caring staff. Great residents too!

Melissa was outstanding ..I would have give her 10 stars if I could . She was always compassionate and professional. My mother chose a different facility but the kindness from Melissa will remain in our grateful hearts

I was thinking of moving my mother into Cascades recently,I was dealing with a man named Kevin Quigley the community relations Director, he was kind and well-informed and always there for my questions. I ended up canceling due to poor reviews and the required seven day quarantine in her room my mother would have to go through right off the bat, that just seems ridiculous! I can only imagine if things got bad again, I probably wouldn't even be able to visit her! It was a very nice place.

Think twice - I never write bad reviews but I felt compelled as this place was a not a positive or healthy place for my parents and I don't want others to make the same mistake. My sister and I are the main caretakers for our parents. They need a lot of assistance. The director's policies are inconsistent. He was giving other families access when COVID restrictions were in place but denied both me & my sister. Patrick threatened to call the police if I were enter my parents apartment. My parents are 91 & 88 and should have been in assisted living but were in the independent apartments so we were filling in the gaps in needed care. After constant, back and forth communication, we were allowed access 1 time every 2 months. They would not let us in to care for our elderly parents but gave potential new residents tours at the same time!. Outrageous! After less than a year we moved them out. Found another really nice facility in Reno ( for less money - yeh) and are so happy to report my parents are now being well cared for!!

The memory care is an absolute mess right now. I found my father unbathed, and no clean bed sheets on his bed but just a sleeping bag thrown on top of the bed. Which was not even his. The bathroom floor in his room is sticky and continues to get worse with time. We keep getting increased level of care and basic hygein is getting worse. We checked him out for thr day to clean him up for a visit because he was filthy, and got a call 3 hours later that my dad was missing, when we had him.I am paying almost 7k a month because I am unable to do it alone at my house. I have been trying to call the director and there is no head nurse and I am not getting called back. I find it a bit unacceptable and worrisome for the amount of money, and this lack of care and lack of follow through. The pool is a show to pull you in, they don't let you even use it.

We put our mother here expecting that she would have good care and lots of activities. It turned out to be nothing of the sort. They have a pool, but they don't heat it so it's just for show to get people to join. The patio for barbecues is never used. The family rooms that look like cooking demos will happen- never do. Instead, my mother was left in her room alone with very little assistance. We hired a private nurse to get any sort of care. The place is super expensive and you get very little for your money. Jim who runs it, has the biggest ego and talks down to people. Marie, the head nurse is the coldest most uncaring person- it's shocking she is in this business. At the end of the day- my mother was left in solitary confinement during covid( they would not let our caregiver in) and my mother received no care. We were forced to move her to memory care to get any help! when we moved her- 3 rats were living in her couch! She didn't last long after this and Trudy spent all her time telling us how much more our mom was going to cost( they were empty) Stay away from this place, we wish we never put our mother here- it was an absolute nightmare!

I was thinking of putting my mom in the care of this place, but there's a very rude lady by the name of Trudy I believe she's a narcissist and very rude. I believe a training is in order on how to treat potential resident's family members.

Finding a safe place for my mom - where she is happy and well taken care of - has been one of my biggest challenges. Especially during COVID. In my experience the staff at Cascades has always been professional, friendly, responsive and accommodating. And they seem to go out of their way to follow all protocols and safety procedures. I am extremely thankful we found them and I hope she enjoys it there for many years to come.

Medtech “Sofia Keebble” is so EXTREMELY NARCISSISTIC, RUDE AND NOT PROPERLY TRAINED to handle death and dying residents . I witnessed SOFIA multiple times giving comfort liquid meds to my dying friend, and she made my friend gag and cried. When I suggested to Sofia do not keep putting the syringe all the way to the throat of my friend just put it sublingual or buccal ( side of the cheeks)to avoid making her gag, SOFIA lashed out on me,witness by the house keeper Ladda Wade. SOFIA IS TOTALLY UNFIT TO WORK TO ANY NEAR DEATH AND DYING RESIDENTS of Cascade in Reno! OMBUDSMAN AND THE LICENSING WILL BE INFORM SOON!! Please INVESTIGATE SOFIA’s BEHAVIOR, from September 9-11,2021 when I was there and please talk to all the caregivers and staff that witness Sofia’s unacceptable behaviors!

Our family moved Mom into Independent Living in August 2020 because it was critical for her health and safety. The Cascades staff--from maintenance, food service, sales team to front desk--have been professional, courteous and helpful. Mom loves her apartment, the food, and the support she receives from the Cascades team. During a very challenging year, Jim Cox has been outstanding in communicating with residents and families and we appreciate his leadership in getting residents COVID vaccinations so quickly. We appreciate the entire Cascades team for all you do. A heart felt thank you.

I don't know what the negatives reviews are all about. It seems that people are complaining about getting an interview instead of focusing on the quality of the facility and how residents are treated. My mother moved to Cascades about 2 months ago and she loves it. Everyone is so kind and attentive. The food is amazing and although things are still pretty closed up because of COVID-19 there are plenty of things to keep her busy. When the time comes I'll be moving to Cascades!

Cascades of the Sierra is THE premier Assisted and Independent Living/Memory Care Unit in Northern Nevada. You will not find a staff that is more dedicated to ensuring that their residents receive the highest quality of care and comfort, and that dedication runs from the housekeeping staff all the way up to the Executive Director. It is a beautiful place to live and it is run by people who truly care about the people they serve. What more could you ask for?
