Anyone giving this place a five star rating is a crackhead! I've tried using this place for 22 years, and they've messed up everytime single time!I got made fun of in a mental health class during an anxiety attack.Doctors here couldn't do what interns did at other VA hospitals in the same network did with ease.Couldn't get a note to drop my college courses when needed one, the hack doctors are unapproachable. My car stereo was stolen while parked in the parking lot. Got assaulted by a mentally handicapped food service work and sexual harassed by the directors secretary. For four years they told me I couldn't use a local community hospital down the street from my house, turns out other veterans were using it the entire time. That's a fraction of my experience with them. I'm 100% service connected from combat and would rather go back to war, then ask this place for help! It's the most disfunction organization I've ever experienced. I've tried ober and over with this place The people employed here are a national disgrace! I've missed so many opportunities because of them! None of them are head accountable when they screw up. Anyone giving this place a five star rating works there! I hope their kids get drafted and get the same treatment I did! Scum bags!

I've been to the South Texas VA, North Texas VA, Seattle area VA and the Reno Sierra VA. My opinion is that the Reno Sierra VA is the best.

I have been a patient for 4 yrs at Reno VA.I'm a retired medic and medical administrative superintendent.Have heard terrible stories about other VA facilities.Reno VA has treated me very well.Appointments have never been a problem getting.Sorry, but those giving poor ratings seem like basic crybaby complainers.I don't and never have worked for VA.Update Dec 2023: I have been a patient for 13 yrs. No complaints, just praise for those who I've interacted with. Thank You to the staff of East Clinic, North Clinic, Radiology, Lab, Sleep Apnea Clinic, Mental Health. Shout out to the community care staff - Thank you!

I have had 4 appointments now made for behavioral health that have been cancelled, but I was not made aware of this. That is 4 times now I have taken off work, come in to be told the appointment was cancelled. Worst of it is they keep tying to blame me, stating I was called and notified. However, I have no missed calls or voicemails. They also denied my transportation refund request for driving 2 hours, because they stated I had no appointments, since they cancelled them. No wonder VETS hate the VA.Why does the VA not care about it's VETS? Why do they blame the VETS for their errors? Who's running this ridiculous circus anyway?Last thing, if you check on the reviews on here, most of them are from VA employees!!! Talk about Fraud. A quick cross reference of the names and a google search of VA employee emails will prove that most of these 5 star reviews are FAKE!

The service has gone down hill since I have been going there.i have coming to this hospital for approximately 15 years. I would go somewhere else if I have better health insurance I would go somewhere else. They do not listen and always changing providers and mental health provider on me every 6 to 12 months

My Wife was admitted to this circus for abdominal pain. A week later she was released after getting the shittiest care possible. They ignored her complaints right up until emergency surgery was required. The "Attending Physician" was clueless and the 12 different "doctors that visited once in a while did not communicate with each other. Case in point, one doc came in and said "let's wait and see" when she complained to him of increasing unbearable pain. But the GYN ( I called because nothing was being done) had already scheduled the emergency surgery. Then the General Surgeon was an hour late leaving her lying under anesthesia waiting on the operating table. The room was never cleaned the whole week she was there. The food was awful, my Wife request one salad. After that all she received to eat was salad. They were actually mad she asked for some cream-of-wheat. They can't even give pain meds on time (hours late)and the so called nurses are rude. As a farewell, the snarky "nurse" failed to give her the final scheduled dose of her non-narcotic pain med. Which actually became a good thing because we immediately looked in the bag at the Pharmacy for pain medication during her discharge and discovered three of her medications were missing including one antibiotic Rx. If you're a Vet, I thank you for your service and you deserve much better. Do yourself a favor, utilize the "Community Care Act" and go somewhere else. They just might kill you...

Please don’t go here. The worst place ever! Very Unhealthy Environment. I spoke with the manager about my issues and he didn’t give a care in the world.

I've always received good care at the Reno VA. Not perfect but in a big government bureaucracy this is better than most. Each time I've gone it has been a different doctor but they still care for me. That goes for every one else I have ever interacted with from nurses, staff, volunteers. Thank you.

This is a busy review site. I listed 2 yrs ago that it was odd only 12 reviews up. Then 4 months ago I wrote a constructive negative review. Wow 116 reviews now, many seem mad I had mean words about their friends. Interesting I had responses from VA town halls from 4 different states, asking for my participation. None od which were Sierra NV. Two I had never been to. This VA has several campuses located all over Reno. Luckily the city of Reno is little, so that's not a problem. But it seems to run about as well as a school district that way. ALSO, the primary care providers are first years, that are changed yearly. Let that sink in when choosing your health care. Oh yeah we don't have a choice, unless you go the route around avoiding this mess by using tricare or Medicare and pay more. We all deserve to have to do that, right? What win-win.

I had an ultrasound, and a blood test,... No problem. I think the VA gives exceptional health care.
