We just joined the Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation and am so glad we did. My only regret is, we didn't join them sooner!Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is a private nonprofit whose mission is "to protect and enhance our communities' livability through public engagement, education, and the sustainability of our parks, open spaces, and trails."They provide weekly free interpretive walks at parks throughout the greater Reno/Sparks area. They also have a trail challenge with free monthly guided hikes where you can learn about the history, plant and animal life in our parks and open spaces. All information on these events, maps, and more are available on their website: tmparksfoundation.orgWe recently participated in our first guided hike at Ballardini Ranch south of Reno. It was a beautiful picture perfect day and the hike was, for me, a good level of challenge. There was one steep part at the beginning but the rest was easy. People in the group were able to walk at their pace and there were plenty of opportunities to stop and learn about the plant life. We had a guest presenter who talked about pollinators (bees and other insects) and the importance of these to the eco system both for agriculture and the natural biosystem. The two group leaders were knowledgable about the plants and were very patient with my eight gazillion questions about everything! I would highly recommend this organization as a way of getting out and learning about and seeing the beautiful and diverse areas in the Truckee Meadows region.

Very nice place to go for a picnic, walk, or simply relax and breathe fresh air, it is very safe for children, it has games, swings and many tables. I love this park!!

Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation is a fantastic, well-run organization that supports parks, park projects and our community. They offer a variety of great stewardship and volunteer programs as well as opportunities to get outdoors. I'd definitely recommend exploring the area by attending one of their events.

By far one of the most dynamic organizations in town. They educate children in and out of the classroom through a variety of programs, increase community awareness of parks available, trails challenges, land preservation efforts and building a better park service area.
