Disappointed by the lack of support and opportunity by the foundation of numerous experienced and talented artists. There is obviously bias and nepotism occurring against grant and stipend exhibit applicants. The NEA funding is meant to go to many artists in the our community. Very unsettling to see truly talented, educated artists , being denied financial support while the mediocre , inner circle , have SAF financing....

Sierra Arts is an amazing organization that supports local artists. They have a beautiful galley and many opportunities for artist to exhibit, teach and perform. They are located in the heard of Downtown Reno.

Cute little art gallery space located in downtown Reno. This is the first time I've been so I can't speak for other exhibits put on, but this exhibit was some Burning Man photography and at least one other artists' art work. It was free, and you could walk through it and see and read just about everything in less than one hour. It's one small story of gallery space and the partial second floor seemed to be office space.

Sierra Arts Foundation located in the heart of downtown Reno next to Wild River Grill on South Virginia Street is tucked in to an unassuming storefront that is a MUST see art gallery. I have passed by this gosh a gazillion times, peeking in the windows saying I should pop in here one day when they are opened on our way to grab a bite to eat or as we venture in to nearby Pioneer Center for a show. I was lured in by some of the recent raffle prizes I had won from then annual Brew HaHa event I attended that benefits Sierra Arts Foundation. I was pleasantly surprised to stumble into the current art showing of: Resist a Printmakers Conspiracy Group Show - some unique pieces that were on display showcasing and telling the story of printmakers. And my favorite part of the gallery was a room that had various artists pieces for sale from prints, jewelry to uniquely handcrafted candle holders. A few of the pieces that I spoke to me were BE KIND, BE HAPPY and I loved the details on the glass plates. I was capturing several pictures quickly to send to my girlfriend I was meeting and hubby to show them all the beautifully detailed pieces that were inside letting them know that we NEEDED to get back in here to peruse the next upcoming event and grab up some of the items for sale. It may be a small space but the friendly staff and the amazing exhibits will be calling me back for a visit again and again. Look forward to my next visit now that I finally got in to see what was happening inside Sierra Arts Foundation. Added bonus be sure to take a look at their website for pop-ups around town - I know they are bookmarked on my calendar so don't miss out.

This is a wonderful gallery and foundation. Local and regional artists are featured. An annex gallery gives further opportunities.
