With the holiday season upon us and few craft fairs to visit for holiday decor and gifts, I thought I'd pass along a great source! The Senior Sampler, located inside the Assistance League thrift store, is a free space given to seniors to display and sell their crafts. The senior crafters set the price, and there is no sales tax. The store accepts cash and charge. There are really high quality handmade gifts and decor available, textiles, jewelry, table runners, linens, crochet items, wood decorative pieces and so much more! Please consider stopping by for a visit. The stock is rotated regularly. Now, as well as day to day crafts, fall holiday themes are on offer, and early November will bring in the Christmas themed crafts. Call the store to confirm operating hours during this COVID-19 adjustment time. Happy shopping!

This little shop carries items made by local Seniors. These are all handmade gifts. Just the place to find that special gift. Run entirely by volunteers.

I have a feeling most people have no idea this place exists. I didn't until my twin took me here and I'm so freaking glad she did. This shop is tucked in the back of the Assistance league thrift store. All of the items are made by seniors citizens who get to keep 100% of the sales price! There is a HUGE selection ranging from hand made jewelry to marble coasters shaped like NV (totally going back for those!) to quilts and to knitted wares and so so much more. I left with a RAD hat and a knitted headband (totaled $13!). This is going on the go-to list for gift shopping.

The Senior Sampler is a small nonprofit mini-store located inside the Assistance League thrift shop. My grandma used to work and sell crafts at a similar store, so I'm all for supporting the senior community at these little shops. For being small in size, the store has a lot to look at: handmade jewelry, notecards, wooden toys and carvings, paintings, embellished apparel and bags, and LOTS of baby stuff. If you want to give a nice handmade baby gift, this is the place! They have cute blankets and layette sets, onesies, play mats, booties, you name it, and at really reasonable prices (baby blankets were about $25). The ladies behind the counter were friendly and chatty and kept pointing out items they liked and wanted to be sure we saw. I ended up with a set of 6 really nice handmade notecards for $6, which was a deal! Prices vary and things like art and clothing seemed kind of expensive, but then again, you're helping to support senior citizens and it's all handmade. Next time you get invited to a baby shower, buy a hand-knitted baby blanket and pass it off as your own creation! I won't tell. ;)
