Great atmosphere with friendly bartenders and waitresses. Dealers were very helpful and fun. Stop by and see Christina at the black jack tables for some dry humorous banter and good times. She was great at adding to our groups fun.

Local bartender that has frequented J Resort very regularly as it is on my way home. I have likely been there around 100 times this year, always with my bag on me going to or from work. But on my last visit I was aggressively approached by an unprofessional security guard and told I can't come in with with a bag, unless I have a room there. He did permit me to speak to the floor manager, who confirmed my suspicions that I was being stereotyped as a homeless person because I had a bag on me and my sweatshirt around my neck from the cold walk. I have literally been in there 4 or 5 nights a week with a bag and never heard a single word about it from any staff member in over one hundred visits. I reached out via email to express how hurtful the unprofessional behavior was but they couldn't be bothered to respond. Agro security guards do not make your place safer or better and y'all lost a regular customer, who also regularly suggested your location to my many customers. I will be suggesting to everyone that asks that they stay away from your facility.
Safety: You are not safe from agro security guards.

Checking is always a drag. The staff seems disinterested in your experience. The room was nice even though there was dust on the side table tops. Restroom could be cleaner. Easy parking, but the pool is outside on the corner of the property. It's a good value, very modern hotel.

We specifically notified the front desk at check in that we had put our tiny camper in a parking spot and she said it was fine. Come out the next morning to a tag on it saying we are illegally parked and subject to immediate tow. They tried to tell us it belonged in overflow and I said absolutely not, it fits in a regular parking spot and this is where I feel safe leaving it in a city like Reno. We took up the exact same space as if we have two vehicles there during our stay and we weren’t bothering anyone.
Besides I PAID TO STAY THERE
The bathtub wouldn’t drain properly.
We asked for a late checkout but housekeeping tried to come in anyway before our checkout.
The hot tubs were closed for the winter which makes absolutely no sense.
Don’t get me started on the kids wandering around the casino and bar.
I miss the sands. Seedy AF, but it was what it was.
This is not a resort. It is a cheap casino trying to trick you into booking a room but there is nothing else to do but gamble therefore NOT A RESORT!
Open the hot tub and get some other activities and maybe I’ll change my tune.

Update: regarding the hotel's reply below, that's a disingenuous response. Even if the city is requiring resort fees, I am sure the city is not forcing the hotel to conceal the resort fees in bait-and-switch fashion. That is no doubt entirely the hotel's choice.
The hotel itself is fine but beware, this place is a SCAM: they offer rooms at low rates, take your money in advance so you've prepaid, and then when you show up to check in, they hit you with a "resort fee" that's higher than the room rate. It's a bait and switch style tactic, which leaves you stuck since you then either have to pay their added fee on check in, or walk away and try to get a refund--and good luck finding a cheap place to stay at the last minute anywhere nearby. An outstanding example of extortion.

Beware- they list super low prices online but they don’t list the resort fee on booking sites and you’ll be charged extra when you get here

I booked online through Reservations Central. Standard room cost (non-holiday) was $160.18 plus $77.30 Resort fee plus $112.02 Tax Recovery fee, totaling $349.50 and $8.99 for Reservation Central. I cancelled reservation within the hour and received cancellation email. I called the hotel to cancel and was told to contact the booking agent. I already had, so thought issue was resolved. Shock!!! Money NOT refunded by booking agency nor hotel. My bank would not either because they said the merchant told them no refund policy. I am 68 years old and on fixed income. It is unconceivable to me that this practice of taking money for a product that is not used or deliverable is legal. What has happened to values in the US?

Nice casino with lots of slots...we wanted to eat at the buffet but it didn't open for some time so we went to Hannah's table. Why, why, why!!!!..service sucked and it wasn't even busy. The waitress apologized but the food was sub par for a RESORT. She did comp our drinks but damage was already done...itsme itsme
