Orangetheory offers a free class to local residents. I highly recommend you try them out! Their instructor led group classes are a great way to get in some exercise, at your level, while having FUN! Yes I said fun. With the class being free all you have to lose is an hour of your time and possibly the excuse that you can’t find a way to workout/get healthy/lose weight that works for you. Tell them Karly Davidson sent you because Orangetheory is fun - ?

I did one trial class and loved it so much that I ended up signing up for more! They offer total body fitness group classes. Depending on the class you alternate between zones of treadmills, rowers, and strength training. Multiple classes are offered daily and guided by very motivating instructors. You wear a heart rate monitor so you can see (on a monitor) your optimal workout zone while exercising. I find this visual cue very motivating to try harder. The hour long class seems to breeze by because you switch between zones so often it doesn't get boring.

I've been reading more on Longevity (while I sit on the couch and eat my potato chips). Well, guess what? EXERCISE PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN A HEALTHY LIFESPAN (You welcome...that will be $20, please). It's just so hard to get motivated, though. I used to do krossfit, and the competitive aspect made the workouts fun, but as I got older, it was harder to keep up. So, I went back to playing video games and eating potato chips.I tried a free class at Orange Theory, liked it, and signed up. And here's why:When you do the workout, you can wear a heart rate monitor that shows your heart rate and goals on the screen. It's like playing a video game. You try to get your rate up to a certain color zone (it's orange, btw) for 12 minutes each workout. As a data guy, I can track the Gaussian distribution of my rate and compare it to other days that have a skewed distribution. Oh wait, wrong audience, sorry. The workouts are consistent but vary in structure. There's always a run, row, and stength (weights/bodyweight/TRX) aspect, but all three vary in times, intensity, and exercises. It's good to workout with other people, but I spend my time staring at the monitor, trying to get my heart rate into the Orange zone.If you've read a lot about longevity, you've probably come across Zone 2 training. Since you have a monitor, you can decrease the intensity and stay in Zone 2, but you'll just have to go to more classes a week.I've just started working out again (same thing with going to the movies) since the pandemic, so I'll have to see if my weight and other biomarkers change. I guess I'll have to give up the potato chips for now. Or do I...?

It is very pricy but it is the perfect workout for someone like me, want the group setting, need the motivation of an instructor, don't really want to interact with other people. Gives me routine and is in a convenient spot on my way home from work.

I love dropping in here as an out of town visitor. The studio is fancy, the treadmills are high tech, the instructors are great, the patrons are nice, and there is no drop in fee for out of towners. I will for sure be back when I am next in Reno! What a great studio.

I dropped into this studio and loved it! Macayla was a fabulous coach, and the music was ???. The studio is spacious, they have modern treadmills, and an excellent layout of the whole place. Showers are great, and the locker area is wonderful - even with locking doors. No drop in fee for out of towners with unlimited OTF membership. And the people were all awesome. Fabulous!

8/10/2023-Signed up online for the free class..Also got the app for the phone.Easy to navigate both online and on the phone..I booked a class for tomorrow morning..After speaking with my oldest- he was concerned what I was getting myself into...I read the reviews and for the most part they seemed good..Only concern with me would be the constant calling if I decide not to continue..I already have a membership at the athletic club, but I am curious on this style of workout..I just called to inquire what to expect..Staff was very reassuring and gave me plenty of info..Let's just hope there will be some new beginners with me.. lol!..8/11/2023 Update:Yes, I completed the class and made it back home in one piece.. Thoughts: Katie was awesome!.. very patient and accessible with a full class..I arrived early, signed the forms and had a tour.Front desk ( forgot her name) was very thorough and helpful.First time guest, I was assigned number 6 for the treadmill, rower and floor bench.Music is great, and the members pretty much keep to themselves.. Technology is a plus for me and was able to try out their heart rate monitor-The screens on the wall and on the equipment tracks your progress..very interactive to keep pushing you..Treadmill was great and something I'm used to.Rower- first time using and I really enjoyed it!Floor- lowest weights 8 lbs.. and challenging doing squats and exercises..I am really glad I experienced this.Probably easier if you have an exercise buddy to keep you going..Cons: at the end of the class is where the upselling happens.. which I understand.. but it's done at the front counter and the next class is waiting in the lobby.. so everyone hears the pitch.. (not that I would want to have it in a room like an auto dealership)..but some privacy..Thanks for the free class!

Just moved to Reno and getting back into OTF after 4+ years. The workout is always great, but this studio in particular is SO friendly and welcoming. Every coach I’ve had has been amazing, too! Excited to be back :)

I joined OTF about 6 months ago to try it out and improve my cardio fitness. In the past I've mostly done CrossFit or weightlifting and I honestly hate running. I ended up loving the workouts, with a mixture of cardio and weights and the running is usually broken up that makes it easier for me to push through. I love that everyone can work at the pace that feels right to them, and you don't feel out of place for doing so. I like having the data with the heart rate monitors and what zone I'm working in. The members and coaches are great and supportive, you feel like part of a community. The challenges, benchmark workouts, and signature workouts help push you to do better and make it fun as well. I'm loving it here!

I recently moved to the area and was hoping there would be an Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) in the area. Thank goodness there is. The staff are unbelievably helpful, friendly, and always welcoming. The coaches are fantastic and full of energy and the music is always popping. I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the studio too. They staff team mops up after every class and members wipe down equipment too. Everyone is very friendly. I love that they utilize the studio windows to promote special events for the current month. They're very creative and even have special workouts at locations around the community such as Reno Public Market, Lululemon, and the Eddy (June event). It's really nice to get a workout in and then hangout after with staff and members. I know OTF isn't for everyone, but I highly recommend trying a class. You make it what you want by putting in the effort. Honestly you're just 'competing' with yourself to get better each day. I always find the small wins each class and OTF is great at celebrating everyone.

Orange Theory Fitness is an outstanding fitness environment that offers rigorous, varied workouts, led by highly competent trainers. You're bound to see significant progress in your fitness goals here. The experience is occasionally hampered by trainers who tend to speak excessively during sessions, overshadowing the motivational music. Despite this very minor setback, Orange Theory Fitness is an excellent choice for those dedicated to improving their fitness levels.

The staff is extremely friendly, they remember your name which makes you feel like you’re not just any old gym member. The workouts are great and the coaches really push you and lift you up during your workouts.

OTF is the place to be! I’ve been attending this location for a little over a year now & I couldn’t be happier with it. The amount of support you receive from everyone is amazing . Coach Sherilyn always brings the fire (and not just with her red hair!). Coach Amy keeps it moving & when you need a little extra she’s there to push you. Coach Nina lights up the room with her energy for life & it’s contagious. Get Coach Adam next to you working out & he STILL cheers you on & Coach Nico’s bubbly personality helps get you through on those days it’s tough to finish. Also! I may see some coaches more than others but they always remember you ! Coach Foley , Coach Maryssa , Coach Riley they ALL bring something special to the table. OTF doesn’t disappoint! Go check it out !

STOP CALLING ME. I have 44 voicemails from orange theory reno AFTER I blocked them and told them to stop calling me. THIS IS ABSURD. I went to your trial class one time and did not sign up. LEAVE ME ALONE.
