My new favorite coffee and lunch spot full of relaxing eclectic vibes, good food, and nice staff. The place is decorated with great wood designs and fun accents. The food and drinks are just beautiful and also tasty! The rice with semi-spicy sauce and a mix of perfectly paired sides was very delicious and full of flavors. This is a combination hard to replicate and within a fun area! Highly recommended and 5 star worthy!

As a travel nurse I have trained at multiple schools across the country. From day one of my 10 month stay at Komainu I was taken in and treated as part of the family. It is my opinion that you will not find a better group of men and women anywhere, either on or off the mat. The instruction is second to none and it is apparent that these men do what they do for the love of Jiu jitsu and their students NOT simply to turn a profit. If want to train, they are the best you will find.

I get tapped out so many times, I keep coming back because I love the people involved, bunch of pure humans for real. Just sucks everyone's scared of me and my White Belt Shout out to Mynor and Jeremy. They really make me want to continue to practice. It's not about being the toughest or the most savage and praising it. It's about seeing the progress. It's about them seeing the improvement of beginners and pointing it out. It's the encouragement. I'm telling you, people get turned off by military mindset of calling you out to "toughen up" or "if you quit you're a loser". I've realized bjj is a marathon, and you will grow significantly from people like mynor and Jeremy who encourage every step of the way. Camaraderie is amazing here thank you guys for being so accepting.

Great experience dropping in from out of town. Friendly group of students. Great size for an 11am class. Had a good lesson and fun rolls. Thanks for the hospitality!

I was in town over Thanksgiving and I was connected with Jerry, the owner, to see about a drop in. It turns out that they had an open mat the day after Thanksgiving.I was welcomed by someone even before I entered the building. They were able to get me all set up and checked in. There were quite a few people rolling. Everyone was very welcoming and I couldn't be happier with the experience. On top of the open mat, they had a coat/food drive to help the community.

Was in town visiting family and needed a place to train, so I stopped in to Komainu. Everyone there was super friendly, and made me feel right at home. The instructors were excellent, and even though they knew I was only there for a couple days, still took the time to teach me and welcome me into their amazing gym. I don't live in Reno, but if I did, this is 100% where I would train.

Jerry Hallert is one of the owners of Komainu and I have nothing but great things to say about him. He is a student of the art, approaches his training and teaching with intent and passion and is just an all around great guy. He is a competitor and understands both the athlete mindset of wanting to push yourself to excel but also the importance of overall wellness. The qualities of the owner carry into the qualities of the gym and I strongly recommend both Jerry and Komainu BJJ to anyone looking to learn or advance their skill in this art!

I was in Reno for the Feb 22 King of the Cage event and went to the Saturday morning class with two of my Jits buddies. All three of us were very impressed with this school. We were greeted with a very friendly and welcoming attitude by the guy opening the door. His name is Jeremy (really cool dude). The instruction by Ben was very well executed, technical, and he explains his technique very well. His approach and great attitude made my morning!! The students in attendance were also very friendly and the sparring was great. Me and my buddies left at the end of the session very satisfied with our experience and would recommend this place to absolutely anyone who wants a drop in, or is local and looking for a great place to train.
