While camping with our dog, he appeared to suffer a stroke. We traveled hundreds of miles to the nearest pet hospital open on a Sunday, calling ahead so they could meet us with a stretcher. Knowing his time had come, the staff compassionately guided us through the entire process. We are deeply grateful for their kindness and support.

They're always there when you need them and since you never know when an emergency is going to happen, they are invaluable.

Words can't express how grateful I am to those that work here. I had an traumatic emergency that had to result in euthanization. The vet and staff were so kind and compassionate I couldn't have gotten through the experience without this 24 hour emergency hospital.

Our dog died in my arms when we arrived. We believe the vet unnecessarily gave a shot to him after he was dead.

I can’t say enough great things about Meghan, Dr. Bowen, Dr. Schroeder, and the whole crew. They treat our boy like their own. From surgery to the post-diagnosis scramble to get him an oncologist and extra care, they have been so remarkable (special shoutout to Meghan for busting her butt with all those phone calls, sending out records, etc. - she is a lifesaver). The scheduling ladies are wonderful, Dr. Bowen doesn’t even need to sedate him for ultrasounds because the team takes their time with him and he just relaxes, Dr. Schroeder did an incredible job with his splenectomy and gastropexy…I mean, I couldn’t ask for better care for him here. Thank you guys, we appreciate you so much.

I have a friend who works here and they've told me they are unable to fire a client even if they are threatened with violence and that is simply unacceptable. You need to care for your workers and not your violent and unstable clients who threatened a violent situation at a workplace. This is not how you treat your employees

They are absolutely the worst veterinarians alive they have no heart at all they charged 700 dollars to put a 7 month old puppy to sleep and never gave me a diagnosis on my pup they are extremely money hungry they could have saved my pup if they wanted to but because I didn't have the amount of money they wanted the vet doc recommended we put my pup to sleep I was there about 3 hours to have them put my pup to sleep I'm incredibly disappointed in society because of people and companies like this they should be ashamed of themselves again no heart at all I hope God does to them what they did to me I'm so angry at them for those of you who have an animal I highly advise you to never take your animal to this place

I had to drive almost 2 hours to get my cat in to be seen. When I got there they were very nice and took my Luna in right away. They were very nice and showed that they really cared about each pet that was brought in. It took a couple of hours and unfortunately I was told bad news that she had a heart murmur but they drained all the built up liquid out of her and I took her home that night. I would 100% highly recommend them. I even called the next day and the lady I spoke to was very helpful and I appreciated all of there help. I'm going to do whatever I can to help my baby and if I ever need to take her in , that's wear ill be going because it's worth the 2 hr drive.

I will never be able to give enough thanks or gratitude to the oncology team here. My dog was diagnosed in August of 2022 with cutaneous lymphoma at only 5 years old. Dr. Stuckey and team have always been kind compassionate and honest throughout our journey. I firmly believe their support and knowledge is what has continued to give me this time with my dog, who’s still here two years later. Thank you for everything your team has done for my boy!

Last weekend we found our 4 mo old kitten playing with and gnawing on a dead black widow. Fifteen minutes later she was throwing up walking funny. We took her to the Animal Emergency Center and they immediately carried her back for assessment. Dr. Bramski was very kind, and clear about outcomes and costs in a compassionate way. She let us know the chances of survival were 9%. We decided to try. Dr. Bramski called us when she said she would, let us know who the follow up Dr. was and when she would be calling. All of the staff were wonderful and professional and they ultimately saved our kitten. We thank this team for her miraculous full recovery!

My experience with this place was brought by unfortunate events this year of losing both my dog and cat this year. My first time here in May when I lost my golden , I already knew what I wanted as far as cremation and be able to have her ashes. With such a heartbreaking moment, they seemed very empathetic about the situation, took care of my Cali girl with care as I said goodbye in their room. They even sent me a card twice that made me feel better about the situation of taking her to an emergency center. I even got her in a 2 week timeframe. They did mention at the time of everything of happening it should take 2 weeks . My second time with the unfortunate event of having to put my cat down 2 months later, the experience was more stressful than anything... we appreciate the vet and the team being straight forward with us and again showing us somewhat empathy , but what rubbed me the wrong way and made me disappointed about the care for animals and emergency situations for animals is the fact that the empathy is stripped away once you are told: "I'm going to be straight forward with you as the vet that if you do blood work, a CT scan, and medications it's going to be a lot of money" and on top of that: after having to make the decision with our cats poor prognosis that it be better to euthanize her : "we're sorry about this decision, it's going to be $300 for the euthanization, $200 to cremate and urn, and $75 for a paw print, all paid tonight to do it" I understand the fact of providers do need to get paid especially in emergency medicine and the fact they see this commonly on a daily basis, but when put in a situation already that's heartbreaking then being told immediately that this is what we owe them right away to do something we didn't want to do in the first place is quite horrible if you really think about it. With already being told by the vet right away that if we even thought about going the route of having an option to see if our cat will live through testing and medications that 'may not even work for her' and pay a good couple thousands for it... in my opinion, at least having the option to think about cremation and paying for it would of been nice, but this is the hard horrible truth about veterinarians and even just healthcare in general. With that said, i wish it was better circumstances for my pets and dealing with this place, but it is one of the only emergency vets who will see your pet after 5pm. Surprisingly also, they haven't called me yet to pick up my cat and it's been about 4 weeks compared to my dog earlier this year it was 2 weeks with no problem and when I called they said it as just "shes not here yet", making me even more anxious of the fact that by the time we are able to pick her ashes up, I won't know if it will truly be my cats ashes in the box.

Alex at the front desk is extremely rude and definitely has compassion fatigue. I have been to this place on numerous occasions or called but I have never had a someone make me feel like such an inconvenience to call about a possible poisoning of my dog before

Animal Emergency and Specialty Center on S Virginia truly saved our cat Jimothee's life, and we are incredibly grateful. Our emergency occurred late on a Monday night, around 11 pm, when everything else in Reno was closed. Jimothee was suffering from permethrin toxicosis, a serious and potentially fatal condition. The veterinarians and nurses on staff provided dedicated care for our little guy for three days and three nights, utilizing intralipid effusions, and thanks to their expertise and compassion, he pulled through. Without their immediate and round-the-clock attention, Jimothee wouldn't be with us today, and for that, we cannot thank them enough.
Their 24-hour availability for updates provided us with constant reassurance during this stressful time. Special thanks to Dr. Vega, Dr. Hileman, Dr. Cadmus, and Dr. Hileman (again!), as well as the nurses who provided continuous care(Emma). We highly recommend this center for anyone needing urgent veterinary care in Reno.

I give the vets and staff 5 stars. They have been excellent with all my pets, and very caring. They work with me if I have any issues, any issues. Bottom line is, these are kind caring people.
