If you're looking for a mechanic, save time and try US Mechanic first. If another mechanic is recommending big work for big money get a second opinion from US Mechanic. They've earned a loyal customer.
TLDR;
How I found this place was quite devine. I intitially went to Ted Wiens because my truck just started acting up (running rough due to a misfire) and they had done me right about five years ago with the same truck. They recommended that I replace my LQ4 engine for $15K (about $7K just for the engine) because low compression and the persistent misfire on one of the cylendars. I decided to call around to get a second opinion, and three other mechanics confirmed that recommendation because my GMC had 200K miles. FYI LQ4 engines can run for 500K miles if not abused.
I decided that if I was going to replace the engine I mind as well just have it rebuilt with some upgrades (pistons and camshaft). One machine shop quoted me $5K but I would have to bring them the engine. Another, Bajas Performance, quoted me $3K. I wanted a mechanic close to Bajas to pull the engine and found US Mechanic, who said they would work with Bajas and reinstall the engine for $2K. Bajas recommended I find a performance tuner and that might be $1K. All said and done, looking at about $6K for all the work, and a tune. Sure beats $15K and I would walk away with a hotter engine.
I show up ready to get this done, and Bobby tells me he's ready to do what I asked, but to scratch an itch, he wanted to diagnose the engine himself. I said sure, but I'm looking to rebuild the engine so it isn't necessary. He understood, but just needed to see because he doesn't trust other shops.
He calls me back that evening and says an ignition coil took a dump, the compression is perfect, and my truck's engine is beautifully smooth (tested it with a spare coil laying around, which is a sign of a good mechanic). Ted Wiens checked spark plugs and wires but they didn't check the ignition coil and botched the compression test. Ted Wiens charged me almost $1K to "diagnose" and replace just the spark plug wires , and yes that is ridiculous. Bobby and US Mechanic charged me about the same but actually fixed the issue with coils. They ultimately saved me $14K from what Ted Wiens wanted, and about $5K from what I was ready to do.
It's been a couple of weeks and no issues have come back. Never seen my console so empty for such a long time. When the time comes to actually rebuild my engine, I have my dream team to get it done.

Always honest, takes the time to diagnose any issues that my vehicle runs into to keep me driving daily. I have a Ford and a Toyota and still have not stumped the anyone at U.S Mechanic.

I hired a guy that they employ to wire up lights on my side by side. He drilled through the main harness and completely disabled it After excuse after excuses still not fixed.. 2022 with 52 miles... no response from John and I have a 30000 dollar paper weigh... have contacted John and no response..... never trust these people

We were on a long road trip and just before we got to Vegas, we got some trouble with our car and needed someone to check it and fix it for us to be able to continue our journey safely.We looked for a mechanic shop on line and decided on this one and after it was all done, we were very happy that we didJohn took the car in as soon as we got there, checked it for us, told us the problem and proceeded to fix itA bit later Bobby came in and treated us as we were long time repeated customers even though we were just passing by and maybe never have to return there.
