Peterman Lumber is not friendly and actually quite rude, they send the wrong products knowingly and yet wonder why you want to return it because they sell you what they want not what you ask for and they do not sell organic wood they lie about that part. As well as playing favoritism with their employees. I know from personal experience because my uncle tried buying wood from California from this company and they delivered the wrong products they gave him what they wanted not what he ordered, and they didn't allow him to return the products or get a refund. Will never buy from this company again after my experience.

I started woodworking in Vegas so this is the first lumber yard that I've used. Given that, it's hard for me to judge how well they stack up to other yards so this review should be read with that in mind.I enjoy their selection of woods and finish options. I've never yet not been able to find the wood species that I was looking for. They have a small supply of exotic woods that I've dipped into on occasion for special projects; which is handy.Selecting wood is easy, as is loading into onto carts and getting it to your vehicle. They even offer to help with loading if you need it.The staff is friendly and helpful for the most part.My only beef is with pricing. I'm sure some of this is due to the spike in lumber prices during COVID but prices seem high. I'm also not happy with the way that they calculate BF for finished wood. They don't list their prices anywhere that I can find - not on the website, not on the bins. You have to ask someone up front. They give the price in boardfeet, which is fine. However, if you buy finished wood (S2S, etc.), the price they quote you is not the price you pay. They take the board feet and do some mathematical gymnastics to it (I think it's "divide by 0.9 and then multiple by 1.2" for S2S). It adds about 30% to the price. When I noticed that I was being charged for more BF than I had, I asked someone about this. They stated that they do that to account for the wood that is removed when it is finished and for the effort it takes to do the finishing. (Eventually. The first guy that tried to explain it was just spouting hot air that made no sense.)I don't know if this is standard when buying finished wood but it's misleading. First of all, the boardfeet of wood that shows up on the receipt is NOT the boardfeet of the wood that you take home. If you try to calculate how much wood you need and use the invoice to determine if you have enough, you're going to be surprised how short you are.Secondly, though, I see no reason to do this. If you are going to charge more for finished wood, that's fair, but don't quote me one price and charge me another. (And I don't really care if you inflate the boardfeet of the wood or the price per bf; it's the same thing.) Figure out what it is per boardfoot for finished wood and quote me that figure when I ask for a price for finished wood. Or at least tell me straight up that "this species is $x per BF plus 30% for finishing").At the very least, train your people so that they can explain what's going on. I almost walked out the first time a floor person tried to explain this to me. He spouted so much BS that I thought I was in a cow pasture.

A handyman referred me to this place raving about how nice their woods are. We went there on a Saturday to check it out for ourselves. Their front entrance door was locked with a sign telling us to go to back loading area due to shortage of staff. They have a large selection of all kinds of woods. I am impressed by the quality of their more expensive cuts. But the cheaper kiln dried pine 2x4s are about the same quality as those you can get at the big box home improvement stores. No need to go there if you just want some regular 2x4s. The staff there are quite helpful and nice. We didn't have to wait long for service and they let us go into their restricted area to pick our own wood. If you are into woodworking, this is the place to go for all your nicer quality woods.

I am in the process of remodeling my home. I was having a hard time finding base board and casing as well as hardwood doors in this town. Ordered doors and was about to order the casing online and have it shipped in. Shipping was expensive from the Midwest. Found this place through Heritage Distribution. This store is awesome. I was like a kid in a candy store. Found the base board I was looking for as well as the casing. Found the prices were better than Home Depot and Lowes. I highly recommend. I had a great experience with the staff as well.

I appreciate Perterman's selection of lumber and the organized layout of the warehouse. They always have the quality and quantity of wood I need. Thanks to Nick for going above and beyond in assisting me search for just the right wood table top.

I cannot recommend Peterman Lumber enough! I was assisted with efficiency, kindness, and thorough professionalism in laminate wood finish selections for a kitchen renovation. Their warehouse is an extensive well-oiled machine and the office always seems to be in good spirits. I'll recommend them to all my clients and use them personally on my own renovation work. 5 stars!

Their selection is awesome but I have yet to have a pleasant experience with the employees. If they could somehow add like a self checkout then it would be perfect.

For someone who went in not knowing much about lumber, I got the greatest customer service from Michael Acosta. He took his time explaining the differences in lumber and what would work best for the project i was creating. He had all the patience and answered every question i had. He is the best. I highly recommend him when going into Peterman.

I honestly love peterman lumber. Best selection, large inventory and a better quality of materials compared to the big box stores.A courteous and knowledgeable staff is really important. Every single employee (shout out to Candice) from the sales team to the warehouse technicians work to ensure your needs are met in a timely matter.
