There was no one in the register. I told the supervisor that the self-checkout is not very user-friendly because the bagging area is small for people with many purchases. I have to re-bag everything and wait until the computer gets cleared. Your system is unfriendly, inconvenient, and not really high-tech but very flawed. Please consider employing more real people as cashiers to help customers with more significant purchases instead of having them act as baggers.

I rushed to the store after work this evening And I made it at 11:52pm. I only needed one ingredient for a recipe and the manager. Noah refused to let me in even though they didn’t close for almost 10 minutes.

I don't think I've ever left a bad review for a grocery store, but this one deserves it. Badly. This Smith's is the closest one to my apartment I moved into about 7 months ago now. I have tried for the past 7 months to give this store chance after chance and every shopping trip, I'm disgusted. The store appears clean enough, however when you get over to the seafood and meat area, a rotten stench fills the air. That's because some of it is rotten. It looks fine, and smelling it in store to see if it's fresh isn't an option as your nostrils are already full of the smell of rotting meat and seafood, but when you get it home and cook it up, it's bad. So bad. Rotten ground beef, rotten steaks, rotten shrimp, rotten chicken. All of which came from both the seafood and meat counter, as well as the already prepared self serve stuff. It's happened more times in 7 months than I can count on both of my hands. That's just disgusting. Not only this, but just the other day I got "just Crack an egg" cup. Checked the expiration date before buying, it was months from now. Cool. Took it up, opened it up. Rotten. How?! How are you guys this bad at keeping food at the correct temperature to prevent this stuff? Every other grocery store is getting it right, every other smiths I go to is great. This is just the tip of the issues. I've seen self check out people talking rudely and condescendingly to elderly people because they are asking for help to work the self check out machines. Literally snapping at these elderly people saying things like, "No no, that's because you did it wrong!" And huffing and puffing as they fix it. I've personally had one bad experience with someone who was at the meat counter. The girl who sold me rotten shrimp a couple weeks ago, actually. Our encounter started fine enough, and I asked for two things. After serving me those, she started to walk away. I said politely, "Oh sorry, I just need one more thing." She sighed, loudly and rolled her eyes at me. I said, "I'm sorry, did you just sigh at me?" She said, "it's just my break time" and I said "oh okay, is someone here to relieve you?" Still polite, not being rude at all. She says no then rolls her eyes again. Now I don't know if anyone knows this, but in a store like this you can't just leave the counter until your replacement is there. They weren't. So I said, "Okay, then I don't see how it's my fault that they aren't here yet. I don't think I deserve to be sighed at and given such bad attitude and treatment just because you're upset about a break. This is your job." She ignored me completely and just said, "What do you want?" Rudely. I said as she packaged up in a softer tone how I get how badly retail sucks, and I've been there. Just that I wish she wouldn't treat me like that. She ignored me some more. She handed me my food, and turned around. I just left it and walked away. I didn't go complain, or anything like that. I talked to her human to human and tried to empathize with her and she showed not one bit of remorse or even a little bit bad over being mean to me. This encounter, mixed with the rotten products and disgusting smell of the meat section has me driving 10 minutes away instead of 3 to the closest vons. Hire some respectful people who keep the food up to code.

Normally has what I need and it's within walking distance, so quite convenient. Plus, as a member, I get fuel points.
