Years ago (approximately 2016 or 2017) i went there to have my very expensive diamond wedding ring resized... when my husband picked it up and brought it to me it was the same size.. too large.. this guy never resized it.. had to take it back.. he swore up and down he did but when I measured it it was the same ring size as it was when i took it back.. so after he fixed it i gave him another shot on my other diamond ring. I wanted the head changed out for a lower one. He gave me a quote. I told him if it is anymore that the quote, DO NOT DO the Work, I would wait. He never called or anything to tell me it was going to be double the price he quoted me. when i went to get my 2.0 ct diamond ring from him and I saw that the price was over double i asked him.. what is this. and he already charged my credit card, he told me that that was the price he quoted me.. i had the check stub and on the check stub it clearly stated the amount. I took the check stub and receipt and i immediately called the credit card company to dispute the charge. He lied to the credit card company and it did not work cause i had the stub that clearly stated the price on it... that's a typical scam that jewelers play when I spoke to my old jewelry in Beverly Hills. I will never allow him to work on any of my jewelry again.. Carson Jewelry and Loan uses him for their repairs, etc. beware.. Carson Jewelry and Loan are wonderful people and I trust them, but not this guy!

I recently relocated from CA to Minden in October 2021. My 40 yr. old Seiko wrist watch needed a battery which is the only thing besides cleaning, that I have done to the watch in all those years. Mr. Van Rensselaer checked the watch and could see no reason for the watch to stop. He put in a battery and it started up again. When I put it on my wrist, he noticed that it slipped done my arm to my wrist. He asked it that was the way I wore it. I said no. He asked where I was use to wearing it and I showed him. He removed one link and put it back on my wrist. He said he should remove one more to get the right fit. He did so and it fit like the first day my wife bought it some 40 years ago. Like they say " it took a licking (over 40 years) and kept on ticking ". He even showed me how the links were removed in case I would ever re- install them. I will definitely go back to him in the future if this heirloom needs service.

My first time meeting Van. He is so personable and friendly. I felt very comfortable leaving behind a family heirloom needing some tender loving fixing. He gives you a date when he hopes to have it done but let's you know not to come pick it up until he actually calls you.Thank you Van. Happy Holidays!?⛄?? cheers!!

Excellent jeweler, I have been going to him since the 90s, he does excellent work, and on a timely bases. Highly recommend, as he doesnt send things out like most locations these days, he does all the work on site.

I went to this jeweler in 2009, with a friend. After the way he spoke to her and treated her, I vowed never to go back there. I did go back May 20,21. This time he was nice. I went there again today because when he replaced the battery in my watch a piece of rubber was sticking out. When I showed it to him he got upset and claimed there was no way he did that because that would of been UN professional of him. Then he told me to take the watch to Lorus or Mickey Mouse and have them repair it. I guess his sarcastic wit was due to the fact I had a Lorus Mickey Mouse watch. Bottom line, he is rude and does not deserve business

Ridiculous, I know my jewelry and prices and this man kept adding on stuff that made zero sense. I also verified this by going to another jeweler. Don't go there!

Rick is definitely one of the Best!! Been a customer for well over a Decade now and as long as he will have us, he will continue to be our Master Goldsmith. We have challenged him with Custom Pieces, simple sizings - Watch Services and asked questions and received quality answers time and time again!! Often on our "Big Asks" he will give us direct answers and at times will even state that if my piece will not hold the heat from his tools it is on me and time and time again he comes thru with flying colors and the job comes back even better than expected. He has the ability to make you feel like family and if more stars were available he has earned them over and over.
