If you are planning to get a wax in Elko, go to Lidia! I was just traveling through town and didn't have any local intel on spas, but I took a chance and found the other Yelp review for Soothe and Smooth. On the strength of that review, I called, and Lidia was really welcoming and got me in on short notice. Her salon is relaxing and calm, and completely private; no other clientele are in the studio while she is with you. You can tell she has years of experience as a professional esthetician by the way she simultaneously keeps you relaxed and works FAST!! Ladies, we all know every minute counts during a wax... it's a relief when it gets done quickly and efficiently! Lidia is careful not to leave any strays, and also provides a soothing oil to apply after the waxing. She was super sweet, and did an awesome job. Thanks Lidia!! I will see you next time I am in town.

I took a chance on this place when I decided to get a Brazilian wax while I was in Elko for a few days. I'm so glad I did! Lidia was wonderful. Very professional and her eastern European accent was delightful (I'm a sucker for accents). She was very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. Her salon is small and calming and smelled like lemongrass. Although I don't usually put much stock in the decor, I LOVED how she decorated the place -- orange and white and black which was very chic but also calming. The whole "soothe" part of her business name is accurate! We all know that getting a Brazilian wax can be a little uncomfortable (both mentally and physically) but Lidia was so professional and all around nice that the experience was actually a great one. I mean, it's probably not a typical reaction to want to hug a person who just ripped your hair out by the roots. But Lidia was so great that I truly felt at ease and very, very comfortable. It had been a few months since my last wax so my (ahem) hair had gotten a bit unruly, but Lidia managed to do an outstanding Brazilian in about 20 minutes and without causing a lot of pain. Very impressive. Additionally, she also gives her clients a pair of cotton thong (panties) to wear during the session so you're not hanging out there; she only uncovers the parts she is working on at the moment, which I and my dignity appreciated. As long as I can get back to Elko on a regular basis I will definitely be a repeat customer. Lidia is fabulous at what she does (19+ years experience) and it definitely shows. She's found a life-long client in me! She also does facials and other waxing services that I'd love to take advantage of. Her salon is a little tricky to find -- you have to take the back road behind the JC Penney plaza and she is located back there. She keeps the door locked as well, even during business hours, because her salon is small and she locks it to afford her clients privacy. So be sure to call before just "dropping in". Or knock on the door if you find it locked. She is fabulous and I am SO HAPPY I took a chance. I will be back!!
