If you want the best, this is the pro shop for you. My husband and I both needed a new ball. We received the most personalized service we could have ever imagined. Roger and John are great to work with. We bowled a couple games the hour before our appointment. Roger has the most intricate system I have seen for measuring and getting your ball perfectly drilled for your style of bowling. We had previously been in the shop and talked to John a couple weeks before, so we knew when we were ready to purchase our new equipment it would be with them. John started our appointment by coming out to the lane, observing us and marking the balls. He and Roger collaborated on a couple of choices of balls that would suit each of us. After we made our selection, Roger went to work studying the anatomy of our bowling hand to get the pitch, span and grip just right. it was fascinating to watch the science he has developed for this process. After seeing the markings on our old ball, he had all the information he needed and drilled right there on site. Then they watched us bowl with our new balls while John worked with us on technique. And then MAGIC. What a difference between our our previous two games and then. The combined years of experience these two men have bowling and teaching and drilling can't be beat. Thanks guys.

I have been bowling for many years. I was thinking that I was doing good. Then I met Roger and John at the ProShop. These two men are fantastic. They took both my wife and I and taught us both how to correctly throw the ball and, what ball each of us need to be playing the game with. They measured our hands and drilled the ball the way it needed to be drilled. Then they both took us out to the alley and made sure that they fit us and, made sure we knew how to throw these new balls. Great personality, attitudes and, knowledge of their equipment and how it should be used. If my wife or I ever have a need for anything else, we will go to them before anyone else!

This is the best experience I've ever had at a bowling pro shop. My new ball was drilled to perfection and Roger quickly noticed a couple of flaws in my delivery which I was unaware of. I went to get a ball and ended up getting a ball and an education. I'd taken a few decades off from the game and Roger was quite concise in filling me in about the evolution from wood and rubber. He's very good at helping uneducated folk who are trying to learn the nuances of this game. Can't find anything negative to say... the prices seemed normal, the service was EXCEPTIONAL. I live two hours from this place but this is where I'll go for pro services from now on. Job well done, Roger..... Job well done!

If you are looking for anything to do with the sport of Bowling, this is the place and Roger is the go to person. He and John have decades of experience both as accomplished bowlers and technical experts of the sport. My wife and I ...both mature adults...children off doing their own thing...decided to take up bowling as a winter sport since it is indoors. We are both accomplished athletes yet we have not bowled since the early 80's (that is a long time ago) and we only bowled about five games a year back then...think NOVICE... So off we go...local lanes...rent shoes...house ball...the shoes were worn out...most likely on the feet of several dozen people and it was impossible for me to find a ball. The balls with big holes were too heavy and the lighter balls had tiny little finger holes....so I did what any novice would do and grabbed the big heavy ball...aggggggg...I threw my typical 97...couple strikes...lots of open frames and gutter balls. On the way home...the wife "strongly suggested" we get our own shoes and see if we could find a ball to fit...I whipped into a local sports store and she said No...No...No...we need to find a Bowling specific store...ahhhhhh my light bulb went off...Strongly suggested really meant for me to go find a pro shop. From the very first phone call Roger was friendly and professional, was very courteous in setting up an appointment...I was shy about meeting a pro but moved forward as suggested. We met at his shop and were immediately greeted by Roger...very friendly...wealth of knowledge. Talked to us about our desire to bowl and fit us each into a pair of very comfortable shoes at a reasonable price...no attempt to up-sell. Roger was interested in our comfort. He would not sell us a ball until he had partner and coach John evaluate our technique... so off we went to the lane. Within minutes...John had seen all he needed to observe and we went back inside the shop for a proper ball fitting. The process was easy on us as customers and we learned a great deal about the complexity of being fitted correctly. New balls and coach in hand...we go back to the lane...John was excellent...taught us both the fundamental things we needed to know to progress and have fun. If you want to learn how to bowl...improve your game...or fine tune your sport...no matter your level...these guys are the ones to help you do it. Here is the take away: 1. Very professional and friendly..no stuffy nose pros over here. 2. Never bet your wife that you can out score her...this was my first mistake...cost me plenty 3. Pay for and take lessons...worth every penny 4. Great products and service 6. These guys saved me from a life of simply throwing HARD with no consistent results We will see you on the lanes this winter...you will know it is us because we are always smiling and laughing...why?...Because our shoes are clean and fit properly ...and we have balls that actually fit our hands and unique bowling style....Do yourself a favor...go see these gentlemen !

I went to roger because I wanted to buy a ball and have it drilled by a real professional ball driller and boy I wasn't disappointed. Roger was very friendly and definitely a extremely experienced ball drilling guru. He took a lot of time to explain the reasons for the layout on the ball to fit my hand and performance requests. I've had five balls drilled since the first of the year by other pro shops and none of them fit and performed like the one roger drilled up for me. From now on roger will be drilling up all my equipment. Thanks roger, you're awesome.

Roger is wonderful and knows what he's doing. I lost one of my fingertip inserts while in a tournament, and he fixed my ball. We also took an undrilled ball to Roger. He did a great job. He's very personable and knowledgeable. I drove 40 miles just to have him work on our bowling balls.

I am 67 1/2 years old. I am returning to bowling after being out of the sport for close to thirty years...and after having major back surgery in 2009 for a blown disk. The surgery fixed my back really well, but with my age and all I'm understandably not nearly as flexible as I once was. This, and my deeply ingrained "old school" approach to bowling, had me seriously wondering if I was out of my mind to think that I could get back out on the lanes again with any hope of success. Roger cured me of that. I was tempted to buy a bowling ball online. They seemed much cheaper after all. But I've been around the block a time or two and figured that a pro like Roger could give me value for my money well beyond whatever savings I might seem to be getting otherwise. And boy was I right! I honestly believe that going to Roger was the best decision I could have made. Right off, he educated me about the differences between the game today and the game when I was a young man: The pins are heavier. The lanes are slipperier. And today's bowling balls are like hypersonic jets compared to biplanes in terms of their performace. Roger made choosing a ball a relatively easy experience, quickly narrowing the huge field down to three potential balls based on my age, style and speed of delivery. He detailed the nuances of each of those ball's performance and benefits and let me choose. I ended up getting a bit more expensive ball than I'd planned on...without feeling pushed to do so...and I don't regret it even a little bit. Fitting the ball is probably the biggest reason for going to a custom, pro driller like Roger. The best ball in the world, performance-wise, is nothing but a worthless lump of resin if it does't fit your hand right. Think about it. It's not just about holding the ball comfortably, it's also about throwing it comfortably...and effectively. It's a real contradiction in terms...one that experts like Roger know how to manage quite well. The drill chart for my ball took something like a half hour to complete...maybe longer. I was fascinated by how he checked my fingers and thumb not only for fit, but also for flexibility and angles of grip. In particular, the thumbhole in my new ball is offset to fit the angle of my thumb's natural grip. I am deeply impressed with the result. Not only is it easy and comfortable to hold the ball securely through the approach, but the ball rolls off my hand with no sense of drag or hang whatsoever at the foul line. The man is an artist! Lastly, and not so leastly, Roger took me out on a lane and coached me through a line of bowling to check the results under battlefield conditions. The ball didn't need any tweaking, but I surely did! He didn't try to change me away from the "squared up" approach I'm most comfortable with. It's a little late for me to become a "cranker" after all. But he DID nail down a BIG problem with me rounding the ball out on my backswing and releasing it way inside every time. THAT help alone was more than worth the difference between buying my ball from Roger Koplin, Jr versus getting it online!!! You get what you pay for when you hire the services of a professional like Roger. Oh, and just for the record, I added it up, if I'd bought the ball online and then taken it to Roger for drilling it would have cost me MORE! It made good dollars and cents for me...

I make a 4 hour round trip to see Roger for all my bowling needs. He's great at what he does and takes his time to make sure all your needs are met. Never do you feel rushed with him, wouldn't go anywhere else!

Roger is a great driller, also a fantastic instructor. I had some problems with my game after my stroke. He got me back on time, and able to throw a heavier ball. He's been on staff with Hammer for at 40 years that I know of. He can infuse all of his knowledge to any part of your game you'd like to improve. Thanks Rog for your help.

In addition to purchasing equipment from Roger, I've also been taking lessons from him for the past 2 1/2 months, and I couldn't be happier. My first dealings with Roger was when I bought a new ball from him a few years ago. As others have said, he watched me bowl to check my style and skill level. We then talked about what I was looking for in a new ball, and he also gave me his own recommendations about what ball characteristics he thought would benefit my game the most. The fitting and drilling was fantastic. In fact, it fit so well it made me realize another ball I had was drilled wrong (not done by Roger). The thumb pitch was off. After plugging and re-drilling the thumb I'm now rolling that ball much better. The ultimate proof is on the score sheet. I've carried a 185-190 average in leagues for about 10 years. 2 1/2 months ago I started taking lessons with Roger. Over the past 10 weeks I've averaged 205 in league and increased my average to 196 (and this is late in the league when it's much, much harder to move your average), I placed 2nd in my division in a tournament recently, and I bowled my first 300 game EVER! Thanks Roger!

I recently bought a ball from Roger and had him drill it for me. Roger spent time with me before drilling my ball to see how I bowled. He then spent time with me after the ball was done to make sure it fit ok and to check if adjustments were needed. Having a new ball custom fit makes all of the difference in the world. Roger was highly recommended to us and now I see why. I highly recommend Roger to anyone looking to find the right ball and custom fit.

Roger is great to deal with. I have had many bowling balls drilled by various drillers. Roger takes all the time needed to talk with you about your needs/wants, he also watches you bowl a few frames to see your style. From there he goes through his process of fitting you to your bowling ball. The results were uncomparable! I now have a bowling ball that truely fits my hand and delivery. Roger is right there for you after the drilling. He has you bowl a game or two to help with any fine adjustments to the fitting. Bottom line - If you are looking for a true custom fit, friendly service, from a company that actually cares about you... Go see Roger at Koplins Players Pro Shop. Lew
