It's been a while since I've been to the Nevada State Museum. This day, coin press #1 was stamping a special coin. The coin is to honor DATSOLALEE. She was the queen of the basket weavers.Their are many exhibits to see in the museum. There are plenty of old west artifacts and pictures. A very large gun exhibit was my favorite. The museum is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours with the family. Or even on tour own.

We had a wonderful visit to this museum. There were two field trip groups of children but the lady at the front told us their path so that we could go opposite of them. Lots of useful and interesting artifacts, fossils and the variety of information is very thorough from the beginning of time throughout today. It has exhibits of all things Nevada. We will come back to Carson City another day to see the railroad museum. This was plenty for one day.

Excellent state museum. I've visited Carson City at least a dozen times, and this was my first visit to this museum. Exhibits are well laid out, and there's even a geology section. The price is right and they've got just about something for everyone.

Great museum. It does an excellent job of showing what made Nevada a great state. Tough folks founded and worked in the state to make it what it is today. I really enjoyed the mine exhibit. You feel like you are in a real mine. It goes through all the mining processes. My favorite exhibit is the antique gun display. It's amazing that they were able to collect that many pieces. Shows you how the West was won! It's only 10 bucks to enter and you can spend several hours inside. There is a nice gift shop with friendly folks working it.

This was amazing! Perfect for any age. It gives plenty of information about history through the museum with some fun things even the children can look at and probably ask questions. There is a whole part with a ghost town and a hidden staircase to a mine section. The worker there was great, I didn't talk much to him, but my father chatted with him for a while and helped with some questions. It's a great place for visitors to learn about Nevada!!

Such a great Museum. Every numismatist (coin collector) should come here and experience coin press number 1 make them a coin. The information was great. Full of history and very interactive for kids. I’m so happy with the state of Nevada for using the Carson City Mint the way they have. San Francisco missed the bar with what they could have done with their old mint building but Nevada got it right. Glad we stopped here on our way through Nevada. Very much worth our time.

I love a good museum! This place was surprisingly good. The parking was free as I found a place in the small parking lot right behind the museum. The cost to enter was $10.00. The clerk was helpful, provided a map, and how to navigate the building. The only downside is I went on a Saturday to see the mint working, but it was offline on the day I went. The amount of information and exhibits was impressive. You can learn about the people, walk through a recreation of a mine, see a ghost town, learn about the mint, see a bunch of local wildlife, and much more. I recommend planning at least two hours to get through everything the museum has to offer. The only reason I gave the museum four stars is the mint being offline. I checked the website and GoogleMaps before making the drive and nothing said the mint was down. Other than that it’s a definitely must see if you’re in Carson City!

What a treat to visit the Nevada State Museum in Carson City. Over several floors, there are many artifacts from Nevada life. A whole display of various guns used in the State is in one room. A basement that was a replica of what a mine would look like including equipment used in the mines was a very interesting exhibit. There were examples of thule baskets and other uses for the thule that grows in the area. Much space is given to the indigenous people.I especially liked the entrance with its mine headframe shape enclosing the elevator. The museum is fully handicapped accessible. I suggest care in the mining exhibit area as there are rails like the ones used in mines to push out the ore cars. What an excepotional visit.

We enjoyed the Under One Sky exhibit. We also watched the coin press in action. The gentlemen who ran it were knowledgeable and shared the information they knew.

This is an amazing learning experience for kids and adults the like! They have interactive areas and areas where you feel you are walking through a time machine. Wether it be the mineshafts build to show you the deep and rich history of mining in Nevada or the fossilized mammoth skeleton or horse skeleton or even the cars history section its a great experience and I recommend it greatly!
