The vets are very good and very kind...but the office manager, Tracy, is extremely lacking in professionalism, and her listening skills are unbelievably lacking, to say the least. I called to make a re-check appt for my 14 year old dog who had the last of her teeth removed the week before because she was not doing as well as expected and the young receptionist, Molly, kept saying she had no more emergency appts left and could not help me. I repeated myself 3 different times trying to explain it was NOT an emergency and any appt over the next several days would be what we needed...but she was just so flustered and kept insisting there were no appts available left today...ugh!! As my patience was growing thin... I asked her if there was anyone else who could help me. That's when Tracy, the office manager, came on the line insisting I was abusing Molly, which I was not! Lol.. And then every time I attempted to explain what I needed and how the receptionist was totally confused for some reason..she kept interrupting me and wouldn't let me get a word of explanation in. She said that because I was not the ONLY person with a sick pet and when I am told they had no more appts available THAT DAY that I should respect that! Lol...unbeleivable...then said because I had been so abusive, she was severing ties with us and myself and my dog and were no longer permitted to be seen at their hospital! Mind you...I had them on speaker phone and my adult daughter and husband were listening as this all unfolded! My daughter actually started taping part way through when Molly was unable to LISTEN and comprehend that it was NOT an emergency but recheck! It was almost comical! But with Tracy the office manager, it all went down very fast as I never got my point across with her either that we needed a RE-CHECK AFTER SURGERY APPT not an ER APPT!! Well...I took my dog to get rechecked with another vet that we had used in the past. She had torn a stitch was all but changed her antibiotic. We have 5 dogs and they are all seniors so one is always going to the vet and it's necessary to utilize a couple to get them in sometimes. Anyways...the other vet laughed at the story and said to put it on Yelp in hope that the actual vets would read it and take note of it and hopefully take appropriate action and clean house. They lost not one dog that day but my 5 dogs and 3 birds, and 2 more dogs, and 2 cats from my family...as my kids won't go back there either. All over a young, flustered receptionist and an over reactive office manager incapable of listening or understanding the clients' needs. Unbelievable experience...truly just blew my mind! Just don't go there!! Lol...

I scheduled my cat for an appointment to be neutered back in October. When I showed up for the appointment, I was informed they had no vet on staff that day. Someone had called in. I was frustrated, but I rescheduled. They didn't have anything available until November for me. When I showed up for the second appointment, I dropped my cat off. They called me 10 minutes later, informing me that no vet would be in that day either. Their hours are limited beyond convenience, and from what I have seen, they don't maintain coverage when they are open. It's a shame. A year ago, they were worth making a 45-minute drive with my cat in my car for. Now i would suggest going elsewhere if you want reliable care for your animal.

Reasonably price and the staff actually care about their patients. We've brought two of our dogs here. The animals were treated well. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to a beloved member of the family here recently. They helped with the process immensely. Dr. Mike is a good veterinarian. Highly recommend.

My dog Zoey, chipped some teeth while picking up a rock in the river. She was bleeding and one tooth completely came out of the socket, and one was chipped. I live in Reno, so took her to the closest place. We were not treated well and ended up leaving. I heard about Carson Tahoe Vet hospital through a friend, who gave them a glowing recommendation. We called and let them know what was going on. They got her in within a day. The consultation was smooth and easy. The front office, vet assistant, and Doctor were all incredibly compassionate, informative, and treated Zoey like their own. They got her in for teeth extractions very quickly. They called throughout the procedure to let us know updates, and let us know more teeth needed to come out, but also made sure this was okay with us and told us how much more it would cost, before moving forward. My dog has always hated the vet, but the times we have brought her in here, she's not anxious, happy, and willing to go with them. This whole team is incredible, kind, compassionate, trust worthy, and professional. I will never take my dog anywhere else. 10/10 recommend!

They have a Karen that manages the place and she is very rude and un-personable to new clients!

On July 7, my dog came inside from her last potty of the night with a slight limp. I didn't see anything stuck in her foot so decided to keep an eye on it. The next morning it was completely swollen and she couldn't put any weight on it. None of the vets in Tahoe I called could get her in until Monday at the earliest. This place thankfully had an appointment open for Urgent Care status and we took it. The parking lot was very busy. Went and checked in and sat in the waiting area. We were told there was a room available, but it wasn't a normal exam room but we could at least wait there rather than in the lobby. This room is considered the Rainbow Room. I was fine with this but I can see where it would make people whose pets were in a more serious condition uncomfortable. We waited for a VERY long time before someone came to look at my dog's paw. They shaved it and checked for bites and stings and couldn't find anything. Took her back for the vet to take a look and she couldn't find anything either. Got xrays done and were told they couldn't really tell anything, just that one toe looked like maybe it had gotten jammed. We were given meds and asked to come back for a follow-up in 1 week. We debated whether it was better to come in on a Friday so as not to take up "urgent care" appointments, or to just make it one week exactly and the receptionist told us if we wanted to stay with the same doctor, it would be better to be seen on the same day of the week, so we booked for Saturday. This whole appointment lasted about 3 hours as there was a lot of time spent sitting and waiting for anyone to come see us. On Saturday 7/15 came and we showed up to a completely empty parking lot and an empty waiting room. A young woman came and took our dog back to an exam room, leaving us in the waiting area, which seemed weird. She had her back there for maybe 5 minutes then came back out, handed her to us, and said, "well, her foot hasn't improved so we think it's a tumor." (while my dog's foot wasn't completely healed, it wasn't nearly as swollen she could put some weight on it, and her personality was back) She then proceeded to hand me an estimate for $1,400 and said "okay so this is the estimate for the biopsy, we'll have to remove PART of her toe to check if she has cancer, then if it is cancer, we'll have to remove the rest of the toe and then do further testing to see if the cancer has spread." Meanwhile we are still just sitting in the middle of the waiting room, and not once did anyone resembling a doctor speak with us. We asked to speak to the doctor and the young woman said "well I can have the vet tech come speak with you" and she walked away and came back a minute later and said that the tech was in the middle of a procedure and couldn't talk to us right then, but that they would have the doctor reach out to us on Monday. So in other words, there was no doctor on the property at that time, even though we were told to come back on a specific day to be seen by a specific doctor. No one had called us before our appointment to suggest rescheduling because the doctor wasn't available. We were sent off being told that the doctor would call us Monday (or maybe later in the week as they are closed T/W) to see what we want to do. I'm no vet but how is the ONLY option for a hurt foot not healing in exactly 7 days automatically a tumor? There was no further testing (x-rays, bloodwork, etc) done at this "appointment", just some rando employee looking at it and thinking they can charge us $1,400 for an unnecessary biopsy that would permanently alter my dog's foot. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it CAN'T be cancer, I just don't understand how A=B with no other possibilities and this was all determined without a doctor present. We were able to get an appointment with our normal vet the following Tuesday. She was also confused about the supposed tumor diagnosis. In her words, &q

So, I just had to put down my friend of 14 years. They were very accommodating to my old dog. They were very patient with me. They waived the put down fee and let me just pay for my dogs ashes.

Last resort the only place in 20 miles radius with open appointment, no wonder, charged me for 2 min conversation with the doctor who doesn't seem interested to talk nor explain anything, one leg out of the door and was continuously leaving while half explaining anything until I just let her... waited almost an hour with an appointment and they asked me to leave and come back later... would not go back and would not recommend !

We are grateful for the professional, competent, and caring services from Carson Tahoe Veterinarian Hospital emergency services for our 9 yr old GSD, Gabe. Gabe received emergency services from Dr. Lisa Lewis and team. He was seen within a short time of calling. Gabe’s first surgery consisted of having his spleen removed. All expenses were explained to us in advance and our alternatives. Next Gabe had sand impacting his gastrointestinal system and bloat. With each surgery, I was called by Dr. Lewis and given an update on Gabe’s status! Our thanks are many to the team and surgery from Dr.Lewis, Gabe pulled through. We are so grateful to each team member who helped Gabe with their competence, compassion, and professionalism!!

I recently went in because my Layla was sick for a few days and we were lucky enough to get Dr. Nick Mannan to exam her. I can't say enough how knowledgeable, caring and professional he was. It's always stressful when taking your fur babies to the vet but he made everything okay. Everyone there was very friendly and the cost was reasonable. I will never go to another Veterinarian again!

Ridiculously expensive, only use in an absolute emergency if you can't wait for your regular vet.

Nice and knowledgeable staff, very respectful of the situation. Got in fast and out quick. They didn't have to date my dog for a week to be seen or do a simple operation. Thank you!

Our puppy unfortunately got parvo, he is 4 months old. We saw the amazing people and doctor within 3 hours of calling for emergency same day appointment. They treated him from home, instead of keeping him, so we could be with him. Very thorough in showing us what to do. Our little guy is well, he is back to himself 5 days later, looks like he has beat it. We are very grateful for the rapid response to treat him. That had so much to do with his recovery.

My 1st & last visit to have my elderly cat euthanized. Instead of just giving him a tranquilizer shot first, then the shot that stops his heart, they took him from me, tortured him trying to get a catheter in. I couldn't be with him to comfort him. When they finally brought him to me he was already askeep. I couldn't even say I'm sorry let alone goodbye. On the phone they told me it would cost $220 but they charged me $385. It was an awful experience for me & my poor cat.
