this is the WORST bank to get a loan from. not only can you NOT make a principal payment online they want you to mail it to a specific address (the California ST in Omaha) but when they get it they still DO NOT APPLY TO PRINICIPAL. i have had to call 4 times since my account been open (been open for 4 months) and still they don't get it wright. opened a complaint with BBB on this and the resolution was to send the payment in a special envelope to the California ST address (my bank is send to the same address provided on there envelopes). this is how they get so much in interest from there customers and if you pay more then the required amount that extra does not go toward principal, they hold for future payments and will say you do not owe a payment.

Horrible bank. The app for mobile banking hardly ever works the way it should, it's way more difficult than it should be to call to just talk to a person to try to help with something. They cancelled my debit card without telling me and with no explanation. They clearly don't care about people having access to the money they have and need to use

Sent a payoff amount for a loan to this address and when we call to see if the check is being processed, they have no way to get a hold of this location. So the customer service number to call for loan information cannot contact this particular location and apparently this bank does not have the ability to make notes on the account to mark the account as having received payoff. A manager, Mike, told us he could see the check on Tuesday, then we call back on Friday, he said he never said that and can't see the check until it posts. So this bank doesn't make notes that payoff amounts were received and being processed? And departments can't communicate with each other to find out where the payoff checks are? Oh, and when they don't like that you want answers, they simply hang up the phone. Horrible customer service and horrible organization. And the corporate number doesn't answer their phone to speak to anyone higher...Apparently the manager Mike is the highest, so when you get no answers with him, you're just stuck waiting and hoping the check gets applied properly. They have until Tuesday to apply the check to the account, or we'll have to do the leg work and find out of the check written was cleared and then contact Bank of the West again and tell them it was cleared and it needs to be applied to our account. This is the most unorganized bank I have ever had to deal with and will never use them for anything in the future. Beware if you chose to do business with this bank.

Bank of the West has absolutely the worst service of any bank I have ever worked with. This does not apply to this particular branch, but Bank of the West main loan department. Phone hold times for the Loan Dept and Wire Transfer have been in excess of 25-30 minuntes in my experience. I sent an inquiry to their message center last week and still have not heard back. AWFUL service. If you look at reviews on Wallet Hub you will see my complaint is shared by many.

I have had the worst experience with Bank of The West. I opened an account with them 15 years ago and have been an avid customer with them up until this point. I have had fraudulent charges on my card where someone in a foreign country was able to withdraw over $200 from my bank account at an atm though I had the physical card with me. It took three withdraws for the bank to shut my card down. I received no notification of this until I went to get gas and my card was declined. I then get on to my account and see there is fraud which prompts me to call in and inquire. I was told that they would email me a form which is an affidavit to allow the bank to review the charges within 24 hours. It will take 15 days for my money to be refunded and 7 days to get a new card. One day passes and I hear nothing. I call in obviously frustrated and they tell me the person working on my claim is not in the office yet and will get back to me that day. Another day passes and I receive the same answer. ANOTHER day passes so I call in again obviously upset again. The person on the phone was extremely un helpful and proceeded to give me more excuses as to why it has taken now a total of 3 days to get an affidavit emailed to me to have the charges looked into. At this point I ask to speak to a manager to just describe my experience to get it off of my chest. The person on the phone at this point is nice and understanding. Once off the phone with her I get an immediate email with said affidavit. I fill it out and email it in the next day. Another three days pass at this point we are on day 10. No email, no banking card, so I reach out via email and I receive a response back which says they received my affidavit on the 25th and that maybe the will get to reviewing it today or tomorrow. If I am having an issue with receiving my card I need to go to a branch or call in. I am just completely appalled by the lack of empathy or concern for this happening. I understand that fraudulent charges happen frequently and that a lot of people are needing help but as a customer of this bank I feel like it is important to at least know where I am at within the process to calm my nerves. The fact that I have had to reach out on multiple occasions to even just know that my forms have been received is insane. The fact that I still have not received my banking card within 10 days is ALSO insane and to ask me to AGAIN call in and start the process over to get my card rather than passing me along to someone or helping is terrible customer service. At this point I cant continue to waist anymore time or energy on $200.00. All I want is my money back, to be refunded for the foreign transaction fees that also went on my card days after I reported the fraud, and to close this account as soon as possible. For a quick second I thought to call back again and check in but WHY? It seems the answer will be the same. Be weary of banking with them because you are just a number and an amount of cash to them. Shame.

Most locations are open 8-5, which sucks if you are someone who works regular hours. Every time I went into any of the locations, the banks are so short staffed it takes 30 minutes to get in and out. They have hidden fees and charges for: needing a new card, transferring funds to other accounts, and blank checks for when you need a voided check for work. I have been with Bank of the West since they were Commercial Federal (so like 20 years). Throughout the years, I have also opened up accounts with other banks, ie First National and SAC. The treatment I get at the other banks is so much better then BOW.I would not recommend this bank to anyone.

I would never do business with Bank Of the West. I sold my house and the buyer was pre-approved with Bank of the West. 3 days before close, Bank of the West denied the loan. Why? Not enough income, too high of debt, short work history of the buyers. They totally screwed me over by waiting to the last minute to check those basic things, until closing. Their answer was- Pre-Aprovals mean nothing, (apparently they hand them out like candy on Halloween) and they are short handed so they did not get those checks done. I would think that would be the FIRST thing to do when someone is applying for a mortgage. They cost me a ton of money and time. Complete idiots. As a seller- I would think twice before accepting and offer with a Bank of the West mortgage.

Short story: Bank of the West took a $400 application fee from me before fully disclosing what they could and couldn't do and then they were too stubborn to work with after that. Details: after I paid the $400 application fee they wanted me to put in a heater in my house which they should've brought up prior to taking my money. It's understandable that they'd want a heater put in but they insisted that I get a permit to do it. I gave them 3 choices: - allow me to do the heater without permits (since I was concerned about the inspector calling out other issues), - refund my $400 or - apply the $400 to a new loan application. They stubbornly refused all three. It was unprofessional of them that they did not make sure there were going to be any issues like this prior to spending my $400 IMO yet they refused to take any responsibility for their actions. I should also add that Bank of the West has dicked me around 2 years ago as well: after paying and applying for a loan they jacked up the closing costs by another $1200 and didn't tell me until the day of signing! The loan center is located at: 13505 California Street, Omaha, NE

I don't know why the drive thru has to go to the Lobby in order to process my check deposits, it seems like that triples the time for a simple transaction at a 'fast lane'.

Bank of the West has no respect or regard for the integrity or talents of their employees. Top performing employees who have true and valuable relationships with the customers are completely disregarded and ignored. I do not recommend them for any reason over any other bank. In fact, I recommend people seek other banks.
