Always a warm welcome when we walk in the door, which is especially appreciated when your animal is sick. There’s SUCH an emphasis on the best care, I always feel as though everyone there really cares about what they’re doing. The team is so attentive to the animals in their care but also to the people in their lobby. I recommend all of my friends with animals to make American Animal their home vet. ❤️

American Animal Hospital did provide good care for our family dog Evie thorough the years.
But unfortunately on 10/9/2024 that changed,
I called and spoke to a receptionist on 10/9 at approximately 9:15 am and explained that Evie ( she has Cushing disease) urinated all over floor, she wasn’t eating and she wasn’t drinking water and was weak, I was asked if I could bring her to urgent care, I was to just drop her off and a Doctor would be in at 1:00! I stated I was not comfortable with that which the receptionist said she understood and I would need to call her back.
I called Omaha animal medical group ( I have never been to their facility ) explained the health problems with Evie, they asked me to have American Animal Hospital send her records over which I did and they could see her right away.
Unfortunately Evie was so sick we had to put her down.
I gave both American Animal Hospital and Omaha Medical group the same health information for Evie and Omaha Medical showed so much compassion even though we lost Evie.
I am grateful that me and my husband were able to be with her till the end.
If Evie were at American Animal Hospital she more than likely would have passed alone in a kennel.
I don’t know what American Animal Hospital’s definition of “Urgent Care” is but my definition is care immediately not to drop her off and have her in a kennel for 3.5 hours for a Dr to see her, I don’t know how much clearer I needed to be to have her seen immediately! Receptionist stated that a tech and a Dr would be checking on her until a Dr came in at 1:00! And if that was true then why wouldn’t that same Dr who would be “checking” on her see her immediately? Really doesn’t matter now.
I called American Animal Hospital on 10/14 and asked for a Dr to call me and I did want to Thank them for taking good care of Evie and I also wanted to express my disappointment in regards to how urgent care was handled but I received no call back and that says a lot!
Please don’t respond stating Evie wasn’t an establishment patient like in some of your other responses or you don’t have her in your medical records as I stated in this review I was asked to have American Animal Hospital to send them over to Omaha Animal Medical so they could care for her.

The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The vet tech and doctor talked to me, not at me. Thanks for the great care to my kitties!

Everyone at the clinic is an absolute delight to work with. The front desk staff, vet techs, and vets are very sweet. I also appreciate how above and beyond the clinic goes to make sure I have a packet of information of the new medicine procedures and provided information regarding my dog's illness.
I always feel they have my dog's best interests and health in mind.

I feel very comfortable bringing my dog Sven here. Dr. Bohn is kind and sweet to him; he is rather timid. She is so knowledgeable! All the vet techs have been top notch in my experience. I am a former client, and deeply regret leaving this practice years ago to save a bit of money. Care is far better here, and prices are once again comparable. Definitely recommend American Animal Hospital!

My first visit with my new rescue Copter, an American Staffordshire Terrier. The staff is excellent and ver knowledgeable. Our technician, Jessica, answered all of my questions. Dr. Bohn did an extensive and thorough examination. I left feeling that my dog is in good hands.

I would never recommend this animal hospital to anyone EVER! Took my cat Charlie in because he was not eating. Normal behavior, normal activity when I took him in. I got him back later that evening after they had ran blood work, xray, ultrasound and a pain injection with a cat that was higher than a kite. All weekend he could barely function eyes bigger than saucers took him back Monday morning with more concerns and then asked them to perform a test for pancreatitis which he's had before thinking they had done that on Thursday when I first took him in and they took blood. Asked about feeding tube and antibiotics which is what he had been treated with before when he had it and Dr. said if thats what you want to do after she tried to get me to have him transferred to another hospital..she was thinking he had cancer..wanted to just pass the buck without checking at least first. And than also said she wasnt doing antibiotics. Even went on about having to see if they had a tube for him there! 5 mins later get a call from front desk on what charges would be..went in later to get him. Made us wait..saying he hadn't had his feeding yet and then got charged more than original amount quoted on phone call. Sent me home with him saying he was stable and to bring him back the next morning. I told her he looked really rough..she kept saying he's stable. I took him home and he died a very painful death about 3 hours later! Not sure exactly what happened..but it was like he was choking, drowning or something! It was awful and very traumatic! And I didn't know what to do for him. Except hold him until he was gone. Left a review on Facebook as well..not even close to being as detailed as this one to find out they blocked me! Real professional! Never did get the test results..they did call the next day in the afternoon as I was at the humane society with him to have him cremated and I didn't answer. They left a message going on of why I didn't bring him and that if I changed my mind and took him else where I needed to inform them and I needed to bring him back and remove feeding tube and i.v. if I wasn't getting him care else where. I couldn't bring myself to call back. I have nothing nice to say. You let my cat die! Whatever was wrong with him you didn't help..all you did was charge me for a bunch of tests with no real treatment. Yes I approved them with intent that you were going to try and help him. If anything it all made matters worse.. I should have done the transfer to the other hospital I suppose not knowing that apparently you didn't know what you were doing. Maybe he'd still be alive. Or if it was something bad he could have been put down peacefully instead of going through the pain he and I both went through.
