I'm still in a bit of shock after my visit to this Vetco. I came in for my pup to get 1 shot that he needed. Essentially because my dog is on a prescription diet that I needed refilled, they decided to do a full body exam (they made me feel as though I didn't have a choice, red flags started flying). They mentioned that since my dog has been on a different food (less than a month, same brand) he could have "developed crystals" and were pushing me to do a urinalysis. Then at the end they gave a prescription for a completely different food he has never had after I told them he has a sensitive stomach (while they shamed me for having him on a different food for less than a month due to the gap in prescription ). The vet came in (she didn't even look at me or acknowledge me, I made sure to introduce myself) and started hammering me with questions about my pup (some that seemed targeted towards identifying more issues, which means more $$$ for them). I also noticed when she was asking me questions it was very quick and demanding, putting pressure almost (I should've left then and there). She was inappropriate, making negative comments about other dogs she saw prior that day. I mentioned he has struggled with allergies in the past but he doesn't anymore with a supplement. She proceeded to explain that if he does have allergies, you need to bathe him regularly clean his ears, etc. (I know this, I get him cleaned regularly). They proceeded to tell me he is a "senior dog" (he's 7, so debatable but besides the point) and was condescending the entire visit. She said that he needs a dental cleaning (which is fair, but I'm taking him elsewhere) and that she needed to do bloodwork (again making me feel as though I have no choice. Then she left the room only to pop her head in a few minutes later to say "by the way he may have beginners athritis in his left leg he was in severe pain when I moved it." I've never seen my dog struggle with his leg, and I was in front of her when she did the exam. Despite this it still has led me to worry and get a joint health supplement (which I should do anyway). I decided to vocalize myself and declined any further testing after the exam (blood work, urinalysis) because I got a bad feeling from this place. The vet was extremely passive aggressive and does not seem to have bedside manner. They will go out of their way to make you feel incompetent to get more money. They do not actually care about the animals (didn't smile or pet or greet my dog, which I thought was really weird) so, if you want a positive experience with a vet that actually cares, don't go here. They just try to swindle you and do not care for your pets as their own.

Both Dr. Peterson and Dr. Mohr are great but I've seen Dr. Peterson more & she assisted me with my dogs euthanasia last year. I adore Dr. Peterson and have recommended her & Vetco in general numerous times now. All the Vet Techs have also been very compassionate and patient. I've been going here for 4 years now and wouldn't have it otherwise.I genuinely cannot recommend them enough, best vet clinic I've ever been to and I will continue to drive from the opposite side of town to see them. Thank you so much to everyone @ Vetco, you're appreciated more than you know.

If your dog is hyper and can't sit still, don't take them to Petco to get a groom. My dog came out looking terrible and half-shaved because he couldn't sit still. They weren't able to fully groom him. They didn't charge me anything and the worker was nice.

I would give this place a 5-star review as I've been coming to this Petco for a few years, but unfortunately I did need to drop two stars due to the poor service received by Bailey today. I purchased a couple of emerald corys to add to my fish tank yesterday; however, 1 of them unfortunately didn't make it through the night. When I went to replace this fish I was assisted by Jacob, who was a great help, but left about as soon as I received the replacement. I walked about 20 feet before I really took a look at the fish, to which I noticed it was swimming frantically and occasionally upside down. After the short observation it was very clear the fish probably wouldn't make it in the tank, much less the 5-minute trip home. So, I returned to the fish tanks and waited for an associate to be free as Jacob had already returned to the back. Bailey approached and asked if I needed help where I explained the situation. Rightfully, she asked me if I dropped the fish and I said I had not and hadn't moved very far after receiving the replacement. She immediately snapped back with, "well this only happens if the fish was dropped." If I dropped the fish I would eat the cost because that's on me, but I didn't and the snappy comment was uncalled for. She took it upon herself to walk the fish up to the register, fine by me, but her face expressed her annoyance to the point another associate commented about it to her. She checked me out and reminded me that a physical receipt was needed in the future. I declined my receipt from the original purchase because I thought I received them through email. I wanted clarification on if Petco sent e-receipts and started to ask but she interrupted me halfway through to say "we are not responsible for keeping track of your receipts." Of course the store isn't responsible and she would have known I wasn't asking that if she waited for me to finish my question instead of jumping to conclusions. I understand the frustration of having to deal with unreasonable customers, especially working in the pet industry where I'm sure many customers probably walk-in with little knowledge of the care needed. But, she immediately took me as someone with no knowledge and showed her very frustration and annoyance with me every step of the way until I walked out the door.

On a road trip from Chicago back home to Denver, our dog Miner had a very serious eye injury, which turned out to be a melting ulcer. Luckily we were able to get into Vetco with Dr. Peterson right away. She immediately put him on an intense treatment; which included eye drops once an hour, and a variety of painkillers and antibiotics. She also had us schedule an appointment with a veterinary ophthalmologist the following morning as soon as we returned home. Our ophthalmologist was very impressed with the level of care Miner received and said that they would have prescribed the exact same protocol. I am now happy to report that, two weeks later, we have returned from a follow-up appointment. Miner’s ulcer has shrunk from almost his entire eye to a tiny spot. He still has a long way to go, but he is recovering well! He may even get his vision back in his eye.Without Dr. Peterson’s quick diagnosis, effective treatment, and compassion, there is a good chance that Miner would have lost his eye, or worse. We are incredibly grateful to her and the rest of the team at Vetco. My only regret is that she is in Lincoln, Nebraska and we are in Denver so we can’t make her our regular vet.

Dr. Peterson has been the best vet I've ever had. She was compassionate, patient, and took the extra time to look at all my concerns with my dog. And followed up with me with all my questions. Thank you so much <3

Brisette Peterson is an amazing vet, and her assistant is amazing as well! They treated my boomer with the upmost respect, love and care, and she reciprocated that as well. They were very informative and help me decide many things for my pet.
