Balanced Bookkeeping had been doing my books for years. I called today because I had never received the packet to prepare for taxes and they told me they were downsizing so they weren’t going to prepare my taxes anymore. It would’ve been nice if they would’ve let me know this sooner. In my opinion this is a very bad business practice!

This is the second year we have used Balanced Bookkeeping. Last year our experience was better with Charlene, but still very unorganized as no one ever knew what was going on. This year we were given Steve to prepare our taxes and it has been a complete disaster.Just a background of information, my significant other and I have been together for 7 years. No we are not married so that makes things like this complicated, but most places figure it out. We file separately and I always take both of our taxes to the place of business and they just require him to sign for his paperwork before it is filed, which is completely understandable since we are not married.This year, when dropping off the taxes, they said there was nothing that needed signed at this time. A couple days later my significant other received a phone call stating he needed to come in and sign something that should have been done when we dropped off. (We were told there was nothing to sign.) He went in to sign and the office staff told him sorry they didn't have anything for him to sign. I informed Steve we needed to change the bank account information because we had since last year changed accounts. He said he was going to have to confirm with my significant other, which again, is understandable. He went in to talk to Steve and Steve without knowing us, said to him, "I am sorry to say this but your ex wife is trying to change the bank account your taxes are put in. (I have no idea why or what made Steve think this, but it was not true and extremely rude to say to someone. We ignored it, and confirmed the new bank account information with Steve.A few weeks later we still had not gotten a deposit, so I called to check on the status of our return. I was informed they had not sent it in because my significant other had not been in to confirm the bank account in which he already did. So now we have wasted WEEKS thinking it was already done. Steve said he had been calling and calling my significant other and never got an answer which was NOT TRUE. We got it taken care of with the owner but the owner didn't care at all how rude his employee was. When I was attempting to talk to Steve over the phone about my frustrations he was yelling so much that I couldn't even get a word in. He told me we could sign our papers and not come back if we weren't happy. The owner didn't believe that his employee would say such things so basically accused us of lying.This place is very unorganized and people are too lazy to get up from their desks to communicate so they just yell from desk to desk. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and I would be willing to pay way more money to have a place of business that cared about their customers. THIS PLACE IS A JOKE!

John is an awesome guy to work with. I absolutely will not go anywhere else to have my taxes done. Very knowledgeable and honest people that work for John. I'm constantly recommending Balanced Bookkeeping to people because the people make the experience enjoyable and extremely easy.
