Another great history stop in Gothenburg, staffed by friendly folks happy to share the history. We really enjoyed this stop!

I don't always have a good explanation for how I end up in places like this, but I ended up here and that's what really matters. It's the first pony express station/office or whatever. So I'm wondering when the first letter got dropped off where was it going to go. To the 2nd pony express location? Who knows? I did not find out the answer to that on my visit here.I pulled up and the place was closed. But 2 super cool little old ladies were stopping by to unlock it because one had locked her keys inside. As a result of their kindness I was given a brief tour of the inside of the place. It's like a lot of old buildings. Storied, rustic, low ceilings and basically made entirely of wood. Some brochures, some gift shop items (I got a magnet woop), and something tells me that there's never a long line to get in. It's not far from the interstate, and it's kind of situated in a calm and relaxing park so I mean, yeah...all good things. Stop by if you're passing through. Get a magnet. That's what I did. You should do it too.

What a nice little stop just off I-80! This is a beautiful example of a typical pony express depot. Great place to stretch your legs. A lot of stuff to look at and cool gift shop.

This was a fun little detour that we took on a trip to Mt. Rushmore. The volunteer working was very informative and friendly. It's a quick little stop. Took us about 15 minutes total but worth a side trip off the highway to see. Great history.
