It's a great museum. Lots of cool planes that instill a sense of awe at the ingenuity of humans.
I have fond (and vague) memories of the old boneyard-style museum with a bunch of decaying planes out in the sun with ladders sprinkled around to be able to climb into cockpits. I'm always left with a feeling that something is missing in this "new" (can things from the turn of the century still be called new?) museum. I miss being able to get inside the planes, touch (some) controls, and really be transported into a different world.
Maybe I'm just getting old and nostalgic, but this last trip left me pretty depressed by the thought that it took a desire to eradicate other humans on the other side of the globe to enable the kind of teamwork, community, and engineering that gave us these amazing machines. I'm not able to simply enjoy the planes for the marvels that they are without also considering their purpose. I hadn't noticed the incredibly sobering slogans "peace is our mission," and "peace is still our mission" on previous trips. It's kind of Big Brother-esque to claim that peace is the mission of the people with the bombs and guns that could wipe out humanity.

If you're even a bit into history of military planes it's like being a kid an a candy shop. Definitely worth the trek if you're going to be 100 miles of Gretna NE. ?

I'm not overly interested in aviation but they've done such a great job with this museum I even went back the following year. The sheer size of the plains alone is fascinating let alone learning about the history. There is a ton of additional activities for kids if you're looking for a family outing too.

**Exploring Aviation History: A Marvelous Experience at the Airplane Museum**
Visiting the Airplane Museum was an exhilarating journey through the annals of aviation history. Nestled amidst a serene landscape, the museum offers a breathtaking collection of aircraft that spans decades of innovation and progress in flight technology.
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the sheer magnitude of the exhibits. From the early pioneers of aviation like the Wright brothers to modern marvels of engineering, each aircraft tells a compelling story of human ingenuity and determination. The museum's displays are impeccably curated, providing detailed insights into the evolution of flight through informative placards and interactive exhibits.
One of the highlights of my visit was seeing iconic planes up close, such as the legendary Spitfire from World War II and the sleek lines of a Concorde supersonic jet. The meticulous restoration efforts were evident, preserving these historic aircraft in pristine condition for future generations to appreciate.
The museum doesn't just focus on airplanes; it also delves into the broader cultural impact of aviation. Exhibits on wartime aviation history, the space race, and pioneering female aviators offered a comprehensive view of how flight has shaped global history and culture.
Throughout my visit, the staff's passion for aviation was palpable. Their knowledge and enthusiasm added an extra layer of depth to the experience, as they shared captivating anecdotes and answered questions with infectious enthusiasm.
For aviation enthusiasts, history buffs, and families alike, the Airplane Museum is an absolute must-visit. It's a place where the spirit of innovation takes flight, offering a profound appreciation for the triumphs and challenges that have shaped the course of aviation history. Whether you're marveling at a vintage biplane or pondering the future of space exploration, the museum offers a captivating journey through the skies.

Our family spent the day at the museum ( children ages 7-18) and we really enjoyed our time there. The displays are fantastic and there are so many great interactive things to do and see. The only disappointment was the 9/11 display shoved off to the side and piled upon itself. This was one of the most clear moments of my generations history and I was heartbroken and ashamed to see the display pushed aside and not valued. Other than that it was a really great way to spend a day. We learned so much.

One of the coolest air and space museums in the country, hands down. A really unique mix of aircraft on display, and heaps of information about them. To be able to get so close to so many amazing aircraft was a real treat! We went on a day that was HOT outside, and despite the giant indoor hangars we were comfortable walking around inside for hours. Some fun interactive stuff for the little ones too.

Large selection of combat, cargo, utility and various other aircraft. It was awesome to walk around in and I would've spent all day there had I not been driving to Arizona. Admission was around 11.25 for me (I had a military discount, I believe it would've been around 13.00 otherwise) but honestly I would've paid 20 to get in there again. I won't spoil everything but this place is definitely worth it!

“Must See Attraction” Plan to spend at least 2-3 hours minimum. Bring your kids and grandkids with you. They need to see and understand this and they will enjoy it.
If you lived during the Cold War, the SAC Museum will give you a better understanding and appreciation for what went on 24/7/365 that you comfortably didn’t know. Do some research on “Looking Glass” and watch the movie “A Gathering of Eagles”

Waste of almost $30. Museum was hosting a car show to attract visitors. Music way too loud. 10 years ago it was a dignified museum. More like carnival this visit. Packed with car fanatics. Sorry, best I can give it this time. Maybe management can book a boat show next week.

Great museum for a 3 hour or so visit close the highway! My kids loved seeing the planes and learning the history surround the Air Force etc. I do wish they had more of them “open with stairs” so you could see inside and I also think it might be time for a more updated movie. Beyond that we had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
Came here in 2006 and brought Dad here for a father/son road trip today.
The staff was great and the facilities were clean.
All kinds of planes, equipment, and other things from the Cold War and the Space Race.
Can't wait until the Vulcan and Stealth Fighter are restored, we'll be coming back.
Our only complaint... everything is crammed into just 2 hangars. This makes it impossible to get good pictures of each plane.
Everything is crammed in there like sardines.
It's still worth the $12 it cost each of us to get in.
There are free guided tours, a gift shop, and a cafe inside too.
If you have a few hours to kill, definitely check this place out.
