Come here for the service. The stuff they have is high quality (though may be less quantity than a larger sports store). It can be on the pricier end of things but not absurd and still with a range of costs. Both times I have come looking for specific boarding equipment and have left with items better than I knew were even available. The employees are so friendly and have fantastic knowledge - they seem very eager to help customers. I needed a new pair of boots after a foot injury and had pretty specific requirements but Maddie took the time to help me find the best option for what I need and what I can afford. Seriously, make this your first stop if you need new gear.

They were super pleasant and quick, getting me on the mountain pretty swiftly during both of my one-day rentals.My first rental with them I lost a binding during one of my first two runs getting on a lift and hobbled over to them sheepishly as if I had done something wrong and was ready to get dinged or reprimanded, but they fixed it in an instant without hesitation or lecture and sent me back on my way.My second rental with them I returned the rental a half hour after they closed (100000% my bad) but since they were still at the shop finishing up, they allowed me to sneak in the board and boots. They could have been pricks about it, but weren't, so am thankful for that, as I was departing Whitefish the next day so would have had to work some magic to get the stuff back to them.They will also hold your shoes for you when doing a one-day rental (an important detail to remember when taking into account when they close!).

This shop has been around for over 25 years and it shows. Same owners since day one! All the brands they carry are top of the line. The staff is incredible to work with. Easy going and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Stumptown crew!

I am a beginner snowboarder that decided I enjoyed it enough to buy a board instead of renting. I have a large boot size, so I need a wider board. I called to make sure they had plenty of stock and they said "come on." I had a long chat with Torin (sorry if I spelled that wrong) about my skill level and what I wanted. He picked out a board for me. He called the mountain shop and had them hold a demo for me to try the following day and held the new board for me (24 hour hold). He told me to see EJ at the mountain shop. Got to the mountain shop this morning, parked, and found EJ. He listened and guided me to the right bindings and got me all set up. I crushed it on the mountain today (first ever clean run). Turned in the demo and pulled the trigger on my first ever snowboard purchase. Many thanks to Torin in downtown and EJ on the mountain!

I'm an outdoorsy girl who loves fashion, and almost always shows up inappropriately dressed for my mountain adventures. Thank goodness for Stumptown, who has functional AND fashionable gear in stock, so I can feel my fanciest while shredding the gnar.

Highly recommend. Military friendly and really helpful staff. Have a test rental program at where rental goes towards eventual purchase.All the staff is great, but if you get Emily you'll be set up perfectly

I highly recommend Stumptown snowboards they totally helped me out of a jam. I believe her name was Silken who helped me and she was amazing she had to dig through a junk drawer of nuts and bolts to jimmy rig my snowboard so I could ski or the next day. I really appreciate how hard she worked, then she only charge me four bucks! ha ha Ha as a business owner myself I know how important it is to know when my employees go above and beyond so thank you again Silken!!

We have been renting skis from the mountain location for three years in a row. The experience only gets better each year. We were able to meet the owner Joe and he could not have been nicer. We also had an Angus sighting this year, the guy is a Rockstar. The staff is professional, helpful, and just good people. The each of the staff is like the friend you wish you had that know everything there is to know about ski or boarding and want to tell you about it so you will love it as much as they do. If you want the best this is this place to go to. They also have some pretty sweet gear. A Couple of Dos and Do Nots: Do follow the shop dog on Instagram Do fill out the rental information online before you show up. Do follow their times when to pick up your rentals. Do get Angus to sign your hat or shirt as this many is a legend; he is the orange hat this year. Don’t be rude.
