I had the most amazing time at the Chalet Inn. Very, VERY helpful and wonderful place. A mile from downtown and restaurants meant a quick bike ride to and from, the mountain view on the second floor was amazing every morning and I loved the little sitting areas outside of the rooms! Also, loved all the personal touches in the rooms the flowers and the fur friends in and around the office. The staff were amazing and super friendly as well! Definitely very recommend and I'll stay next time I visit Whitefish.Rooms: They're very clean and cozy. Definitely something different from the branded hotelsNearby activities: So much to do, visit Glaciar National Park amazing, Whitefish Lake was lovely, Whitefish Mountain.Safety: Very safe and quietWalkability: Just a mile away from downtown, it was a great walk

We were checked in and went to our room (45). The door was already open, I didn't think anything about it. We finally got all our stuff up to the second floor and I went to shut the door but it would not latch. It was obvious the latch and striker plate were not aligned.I went to the office and was informed I didn't know what I was talking about. The lady (Eva, I think) went to the room and said a loose screw was the problem. I said I thought it was more than just a loose screw. It was the only lock, the dead bolt had been removed.I offered to attempt to fix it if she could get a screwdriver. She declined my offer. She made me feel belittled and talked down to. When she raised her voice talking to me I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere, then I said I couldn't leave my property in a room that didn't lock. She said, "fine I'll give you a refund". I objected to the refund because I had trouble finding this room ten days earlier. To make this long story shorter, she kicked two 78 year olds to the curb at 6pm.UPDATE 11/13/23This lady (unknown by me) charged my "incidental" credit card for $497 when I checked in knowing that she had already received $520 from Hotels.com for the same two nights stay. She refunded the CC $497 when she kicked my wife and I out but two months later (11/13} she is still telling Hotels.com and the bank that I was a "no-show", therefore she still has $520 of my money.I would not recommend this place to anyone,

Very clean & comfy. Our room had an electronic locking system that we felt safe with.We also appreciated the owner accommodating a last minute reservation & a very late check-in, which all went smoothly.Nice bistro set outside our room to have an early morning coffee while enjoying the weather. The motel is about 30 minutes away from the main town & that is walking time at a cool pace. There are a few places to eat nearby a stone's throw away. China Wall was excellent!I would highly recommend this motel.Rooms: Clean, comfortable. Our room was equipped with a microwave oven, small fridge, coffee maker with coffee, creamer etc. Also had a television.Safety: Doors have electronic locking systems.Walkability: 30 minutes walk from the town.

Cute, kitschy motel that is reasonably priced. The rooms are clean, lots of pillows on the bed for a cozy night's sleep, and they provide satin robes. Lower floor rooms have a sitting area outside of each room with table, chairs and hammock chair which is a nice touch.

On the border, between a 3 and a 4. I felt lucky to get a reasonably priced room for this area and at short notice. Check in went smoothly. The room was very clean and decorated nicely. Nice outdoor space as well. Things that could improve? Our one lock on our door just would not lock, we ended up putting a chair against it to ensure safety. Also the drain cover in the tub was pulled off and just sitting in the tub loose. I liked this place, I slept well and made us some nice coffee in the morning.

This hotel is really nice. Newly renovated. And perfect location from downtown Whitefish. And reasonably priced for the area.

We loved this place. I always look for independent hotels, and I picked this one because it wasn't far from the Amtrak station in Whitefish. Very cute/fun/offbeat mix of vintage features with recent updates. Everything we needed, from the hammock chair out front on back. Coffeepot, microwave, and a sizeable fridge. Helpful, flexible service, and it was easy to get in when we arrived late at night.Nearby activities: It isn't hard to get from here to Glacier National Park. You might not want to make the whole drive day after day, but we landed here and then moved closer. We rented a car in Whitefish, but there is also a shuttle to the park.

We inquired if there was availability here. Owner was extremely rude to us and we looked at each other in disbelief. We were in desperate need of a place to stay as we were tired of looking. Everything was booked. No surprise that this place had plenty of vacancy. We should have walked away then. Never have we ever had such blatantly crappy treatment ever! Owner is not a true Montanan. Just someone who is from somewhere else and has zero knowledge of Montana kindness and consideration. A hard pass on this crappy place.

We wrapped up a family vacation to the Canadian Rockies with a stay in Whitefish to explore Glacier National Park. I am so glad we stayed at the Chalet Inn - logistically is close to everything we wanted to do, super easy to find, quiet, comfy, ample parking, good wi-fi, and easy to book. More importantly, the character of the hotel is sweet, charming, and reflects the enthusiasm and charm of the owner, Eva, and her great staff. You really notice that you are in a small, family-run hotel - it’s the touches like the colorful robes in the rooms, the fresh/real/good coffee in the rooms, the local themed photographs and linens, and the sweetest retriever dog who is constantly moseying around the reception and parking. My daughter was missing her pets on our trip, and so also enjoyed the hotel reception cats who perch near the window. Sitting outside around the fire pits in the evening makes a perfect end to days in the Park as well! We absolutely will/plan to come back and there is no question where we will stay!Rooms: Sweetly decorated rooms, super comfy beds, A/C and Wi-fi are strong, and the in-room coffee amenities were high quality, which made our early starts to hiking easyNearby activities: Glacier is about a half hour away, and that’s the big draw, but there are also tons of state parks, lakes, hiking, biking nearby.Safety: Quiet hotel, located just outside of downtown Whitefish, so easy to enjoy the town dining and shopping while staying a bit away from the masses of summer visitors.Noteworthy details: Family owned, efficient and friendly staff. Not a chain hotel, and full of character.
