Great selection, prices and customer service. Definitely worth the trip. Memories are dreamed up and made here. Dress to impress and at much less than you would expect.

Stayed at a historic Airbnb up the street for a week and ran out of groceries! We needed a few extra supplies but didn't want to drive all the way to Ennis. A quick Google search returned Rank's Mercantile- we were so happy to see that this cute shop also had a small but mighty grocery section. We were expecting to have to pay double, but were pleasantly surprised by the wide variety and reasonable prices. We had great interactions with the store owners and highly recommend popping in on your trip to Virginia City. Cute vintage postcards too!

Best high quality clothing to be found anywhere in the area, as well as needful things for travelers. Have bought here for 15 years.

This delightful emporium is full of all kinds of stuff you didn’t know you wanted: quality knick knacks, organic lotions and soaps, a very broad selection of well-curated Western books, and their Western clothing selection is excellent! They have a capable and knowledgeable period-dressed cowboy assistant with his friendly canine to round out the experience. Such a cool store!

In 1960 ,I attended 1st grade in Virginia City when my family lived up in Granite Creek,I visited the store as a treat to buy my favorite candy.I believe the Stevens family owned the store at the time,I may be wrong but my memory isn't the sharpest anymore.I do remember trick or treating there with my five siblings.I love Virginia City, full of the greatest people in the world.
