Not sure where to start what a great shop. I emailed them and Kathy treated me so great gave me a lot of tips on what to use on river as i was a newbie in the area. I really appreciated her responses to all my questions. Im sure all the locals now how valuable this fly shop is but those who don’t do not pass this place by if in the area ?

As a beginner at fly fishing I've got tons of questions. I stopped in and talked to Kathy for like an hour. At other stores they always acted like I was bothering them, not Kathy. She answered them all with a smile and a happy to talk you at the end of our conversation. Thank you you've won a customer for life.

By far THE BEST customer service I have ever received. I was buying a retirement gift for a friend who likes to fly fish in MT. I contacted Kathy and Travis via phone as I live in a different state and they were SO helpful, wonderful to work with and even raced the gift to the post office! I truly cannot say enough good things about them. I hope someday I can meet them in person!

Of the 6 buildings in Ovando, one is a fly fishing shop - how perfect is that? Great outfitted store, with everything you need to get you out fishing. Both the owners are knowledgeable and quick to share information. If you are fishing the northern reaches of the Blackfoot, this is the place to stop.

The Blackfoot Angler is a must stop for any body fishing the Blackfoot River or any of it's tributaries. Travis and Cathy are unfailingly helpful and friendly. The shop is extremely well stocked with everything you'll need to fish the Blackfoot. They'll give you all the latest information and suggestions that you need to have a great day on the river.

New to the area, we were seeking a fly shop for some advice on the local water and appropriate flies for fishing the Blackfoot. We turned off highway200 at Ovando and it was a good stop. After seeing a security camera photo of bears at a nearby store, we asked about bear spray, too. We felt that it was a sensible thing to have and the store owner? helped with a how to session. Enjoyed the store, the help AND the Blackfoot River fishing.

Great shop, great people! One of my mandatory MT stops. Kathy and Travis are super knowledgeable about local fishing, hiking, wildlife and pretty much everything else! Do yourself a favor and stop in!

Normally I am not very devoted to the stores i purchase fly fishing equipment. But the Blackfoot Angler is an awesome little fly shop. They have a friendly and very knowledgeable staff. I have shopped there every summer for the last 12 years. I never visit the region without a stop in the store. They fulfill the ultimate goal of a fishing shop: they help fishermen catch more and bigger fish.

It was with great anguish we read D. Coledi's review. We are hoping he has us confused with a fly shop in a sister city with a very similar name, as we had been closed during that time and I, Ms. Shopkeeper, prides herself on giving every customer as much help, and sometimes more, than they requested. Also I am not known for my fly or leader tying skills. If it was indeed us I apologize profusely and promise that this was an anomaly. [ADDED NOTE: We have now noticed the same review with some added touches to the Blackfoot River Outfitters in Missoula so am assuming there was a confusion in the name. Now to just get this removed.....]
