Okay so, The owner of River city did my hair about a year ago and nailed it! She took her time and made sure to be very meticulous with my highlights making them look natural. But this time I had a different lady do my hair. Her name was NASH. I told the that I wanted my whole head lightened and I NEED a good tone because my hair pulls extremely red. She started with the foils and the whole process took about two hours. It started going bad when she started blow drying my hair. I was gritting my teeth because I knew my hair was really sensitive due to just bleaching it. She was pulling through my hair over and over again with a brush and a blow dryer. When she was finished she sent me to the front desk and she disappeared. I left a tip STILL! Which I regret. I looked at my hair and it was SO RED she only left the toner in for about ten minutes because she was rushing. She also left my hair half dry and there was SO MUCH BREAKAGE!! I know that bleaching it would break some of my hair but IT WAS THE WAY SHE KEPT TUGGING AT IT. And the highlights she put in my hair DID NOT REACH the ROOTS!! So so streaky and nastily looking. It all felt like she was just getting it done and didn't feel like taking the extra time to be methodical. Definitely had a good cry after. :(

River City Hair Studio is the best! My husband and I have been going to Dana for a couple years, and she always does a fantastic job! We never have to worry; our cuts are always done to perfection! The salon is so open, fresh, and clean, and everyone there is so friendly! I recommend River City Hair Studio to everyone I know every chance I get!

I never leave reviews for anywhere I go usually, but this time I feel it's important I do so that other parents can be aware.
I recently took my daughter (toddler) in to get some colors to her hair. So my first red flag was that I was not consulted on the color/shade the stylist used. My second red flag was that she wasn't brushing her hair correctly and it was getting tangled which caused my daughter more pain (it's painful enough brushing without tangles being involved) AFTER I had told her and other members of the staff multiple times that she is severely tender headed and her hair easily tangles up (she has curly hair). My third red flag was that I felt like she was only half listening to me. My fourth red flag was that when she was going to cut her bangs the parts were not straight or even or even centered and she pulled it all the way back to the top of her head. She did correct this before actually cutting thankfully. My fifth red flag was how quickly this appointment was. My sixth red flag was that towards the end of the appointment she wasn't as cheerful as she was at the start. She started coming off as very rude towards me and my daughter. Which I felt was uncalled for and it made me uncomfortable.
There were more flags but that's not important.
I convinced myself to "trust the process" I said "she's a professional".
Now the appointment is over....
At first I thought it looked... good. It wasn't what I had pictured but it didn't look completely awful. I thought she had done a decent job. But the longer the day went on and the more I looked at it the more I felt it wasn't what it should be. Then she had a bath. One of the colors is gone. The other isn't even the right color (not shade, COLOR). It's all uneven. And there's more issues.
I asked my stylist about her opinion (she has over 20 years experience) on it with pictures from each stage of course (before, during, immediately after, and after a bath) and explained to her this isn't what I asked for and I feel like its absolutely awful and she pointed out more issues with it than I had originally noticed. We then talked about what process was done and what should have been done instead. She also stated that there's a good possibility that the woman who did my daughter's hair is just inexperienced. Which I can understand just fine. My biggest issue isn't that my daughters hair looks horrible right now. My biggest issue is that when I called them and told them about my experience and the results we got with her hair I was basically called a liar. By the head lady.
They did offer to fix it for free or give me "future credit". I will not be returning as I live over an hour away and I've already had a bad experience. But I can't let my daughters hair stay like this either. And my stylist told me to take them up on their offer to fix it. She hopes they they can since it'll be with someone else. If not I will be going to my stylist in a few months when I've saved up enough money and I'll have her fix it.
I wouldn't mind giving a better review but I do not tolerate being called a liar from anyone. And I think that pisses me off more than anything about this whole situation. Maybe when she sees my daughters hair she'll take back her comments, but I won't hold my breath.
Everyone who has seen my daughter recently has had a comment about her hair as well so it's definitely not just me and my stylist seeing this.
Edit: she cancelled the appointment for fixing my daughters hair because she doesn't like my review and again called me a liar.
10/10 I do NOT recommend.
Rude VERY unprofessional and does not stick with policy or agreements.
Zero stars.

It was my first experience to go salon in Missoula. I went to River City because it was close to my workplace. Gabby was very friendly and amazing, I am very happy with my new hair cut.

So I don’t normally leave negative reviews, but this time I have too. I went in with very specific details saying i wanted two inches off and then longer layers that blend in and trimmed framing pieces. Leaving with my hair curled, I thought it was amazing… at first. Come to find out, I now have choppy layers that look like staircases and uneven sections of hair that were essentially just cut straight across giving it a boxy look. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend going here with anything other than a simple trim.

First time coming in, scheduled a walk in cut with a new stylist and she was blast. Nonstop engagement with my 14 yo, which isn't the norm when teens get their hair done.

Three strikes, they’re out. Out of the 3 appointments I’ve made, the only one that actually worked was because of another person’s cancellation. Most recently, I was rescheduled with another stylist (not the first time I was rescheduled) and when I showed up, was told I had the wrong day. I live 40 miles away, so why would I be so careless as to arrive on the wrong day? They were very apologetic and courteous, but did not take accountability for their mistake.Service: Haircut

Jacqueline is amazing! I have long, super thick hair that is wavy and has to be layered just right to lay nicely. She has done it for me twice now and does amazing with my layers. Super sweet too and great to chat with.

The staff at River City Hair Studio is great. They’re all very kind and very willing to work with whomever (see: my 6-year-old, who notoriously hates hair cuts). Dianne is the only person in Missoula that I will let touch my hair- she has fresh ideas to present, while still respecting her clients’ level of comfort.Totally recommend!
