I had originally written this and decided to take it down. I'm not usually one to complain, but after talking with the coaches and how it's been handled by SBG, I've decided it's probably best public knowledge.I personally haven't been impressed. It seems like the idea isthere, but the follow-through is lacking. It's by no means a"cheap program" but so unorganized. On multiple occasions, was told I would be notified of ceremonies like belts etc some 1 was... some I was not. I missed my son's very first ceremony that they told me over and over they would notify me so family could join. The spider class is so over full. They ask top dollar but half the time the adult coaches aren't the ones teaching the kids, it's just a bunch of other kids "coaching" that aren't capable of organizing the kids to the point they're learning. Many times, we showed up for class only to find out there was no class. When I called frustrated as to why I got no notification of canceled class the response was "well we posted it on the Instagram for Whitefish SBG". I don't even have Instagram nor do I attend Whitefish SBG. Other parents said they received a text. I never did except for once. It does seem the last months they have finally started putting holiday closures on the door the week before but still doesn't account for the days they closed due to weather, and we had no idea until we arrived. The gym itself is very difficult to get ahold of, and even though itsays open. I have yet to be able to reach them beyond it going to the answering service for the yoga studio who are unable to answer any questions regarding jujitsu. Lastly, my son has been left in the same class without advancement for about an EXTRA year. I set my membership to cancle because, at this point, he is just so bored and not learning anything new. I was suggested to give the coach a call and find out why as he should have advanced a long time ago. Her response was that she must have forgotten and that he's been MORE than ready for the last year. In response to my review her response was "I will take ownership of not officially inviting Dacey to leadership. However a conversation at any time on your part would have remedied that situation." So I guess with SBG you are supposed to keep up on the coaches job as well when having no idea what the steps are and at what point should be happening.A year, in my opinion, is quite a bit of time wasted and money wasted when the coach failed to move him up. Unfortunately, I'm not the only one this stuff keeps happening to. Miss Stephanie and Olivia at the front have been very kind and were apologetic for any misunderstandings, which really it never did fall on them. The idea seems to be there, but the organization of everything seems to be absolutely atrocious. We're bummed to go, but the 2 year-long financial commitments, they ask along with the high pricing seems far too much for what you receive along with the terrible organization.

I feel as though I was shank by one of the owners at the time of sign-up the owner express that we have to sign up for a minimum of one year that a month to month was not available we can no longer attend our classes after six months I ask at the time of sign up should we not be able to fulfill a one-year contract will my money is to be refunded she said excluding 1/3 of the remaining balance I asked for a refund she reluctantly refuse to give me any kind of refund told me I was under contract and I will have to fulfill it or forfeit it. She was very dishonest in her business dealings and did not hold up to her end of the contract. She then invited us to continue our contract once school was out because my toddler child cannot attend the classes because of a schedule conflict with school. I declined to except her solution to this problem and still ask for a refund of my money, the flying monkeys class is over stacked and understaffed with that said, I would definitely seek out all avenues before signing a contract with this company. As I said, they were poor management, and I feel I was deceived giving that the father of my toddler was able to sign up on a month to month class, and he was able to pay a fee to forfeit his membership just saying watch out for Stella. She’s not a very honest business woman.

Did a couple of drop in BJJ classes and had a great experience. Everyone from the coaches and students were very welcoming. Huge shout out to coaches Stella and Michael they were both excellent. Stella was recovering from ACL surgery and still did an awesome job teaching. Michael extended the class to allow everyone to keep training which was greatly appreciated. Highly recommend this place to everyone, I am definitely looking forward to when I get back down there to train.

It’s an awesome place to hangout and take classes from IBJJF black belts and also maybe if you’re there you might be able to meet some of our coaches who have been in corners of past UFC fighters, and or Bellator fighters like Leah Taylor, who was in the corner for Ash daily, who fight in the UFC.

Iv trained at several gyms over the past couple years 1 local gym and several drop ins on work trips (sbg being one of them) not a very welcoming atmosphere. I did three classes, really enjoying the no Gi class taught by the younger guy. I also did an open mat supervised by coach Leah where I had some very competitive rolls with a sbg black belt. I'm a 145 lb white belt and I definitely wasn't using any dirty moves. Coach Leah felt the need to have Andy stumpf (mat enforcer) come onto the mat and ask me to roll. He then proceeded to put all his weight on my face and rub his gi on my nose until I was bleeding aswell as opening his gi and covering my face with his belly. Pretty gross and dirty moves for practice if you ask me and no way to treat a visitor. Coach Leah explained I was rolling too hard with the black belt and that is why she had Andy do that to me...I thought it was pretty unnecessary, considering the only guy I had rolled with was a BLACK belt that out weighed me. I believe the way I was handling the student wearing a SBG black belt caused coach Leah's pride to influence her decisions. And that is why she sent the mat inforcer to teach me a lesson. I ended up going to the check mat gym down the street for half the price. No contract. The atmosphere had a lot more team like spirit. I'd skip sbg and try the gym under the bar.q

From the moment I walked in I’ve been treated like a valued guest. The place is spotless, the staff is kind, the training is spot-on.I was looking for a way to not only learn self-defense but also to improve my stamina and confidence. I have no doubt that I made the right choice. If you’re on the fence about SBG, just make the commitment and you won’t ever be sorry.

I joined the gym yesterday with both my sons and my wife and from start to finish from the tour of the gym I was highly impressed. I have trained before at schools in California and none compares to this. Coach Leah helped make us feel right at home and I took my first class today and loved every minute of it. I am very impressed with the professionalism and the curriculum for not just adults but the children’s program as well. Can’t wait to train and learn from these high level coach’s and friends. Going to be fun to be apart of this gym. Can’t wait to see both my sons skill levels increase and grow here. Thank you to everyone at SBG Kalispell for welcoming me today and look forward to growing with you all.

i have been going to the kalispell SBG for 5 years now. there is a lot to offer from this institution. From Yoga, self defense and weight regiment training is offered. High energy/driven individuals doing all the programs can benefit from the subscription; subscribing to all these programs individually would cost far more elsewhere. The yoga side is calm and the people are coherent.the martial arts side is unique and exhilarating.combat training is a very personal experience where one has to be internally 'open' to be 'externally' proficient. This gives perspective on themselves and others. For anyone seeking a new journey SBG gives testament to that goal. Thanks Fam

Absolutely love this place. All 5 kids (ages 12-3) take BJJ here as well as my wife and myself. Wonderful facility with extremely knowledgeable coaches. Their foundations class is excellent for anyone thinking about taking Jiu Jitsu.
