Not what it used to be - in good and bad ways. Since the ownership change it’s lost some of that small town sporting goods store feeling. The inventory position seems to be lighter overall - which was probably necessary from a business perspective but now they seem to carry the same stuff everyone else does without as much variety. I would always go to BW to find stuff I couldn’t find elsewhere in Helena. Not anymore. It does seem like with the lighter inventory the store layout is much cleaner/more organize. The gun counter and fishing area folks are as helpful as they’ve always been but I haven’t interacted with the ski/snowsports area since the ownership change.
