After being a fan of the Gunfather Restorations show for years, I finally had the opportunity to visit the shop in person recently. Devin and Louis Jr. took me on a tour and showed me some of the fantastic work they do there. (I have begun to rewatch the episodes with a new perspective of the shop.) To say I was thrilled to have this opportunity is an understatement! I am hoping to have them restore a gun that was my dad's before he gifted it to me almost 50 years ago.

Old school atmosphere Not a walking place. Almost too much Not a place for tire kickers which is nice.

Saw the work done to a gun of someone else's. The work does not look like it's worth the amount of money paid for the services. The finish didn't look at all like the original finish should have and I would never spend my money on this work.

Louie I’ve seen all of the Gunfather shows and I was hoping that you could correct what was done to my Python.
About 5 years ago I obtained a 1962 Python. The right side above the grip and inside the trigger guard had what looked like chemical damage. To repair the damage, it would require some welding so I put the gun in the safe for maybe repair at some future time.
Last year I took it to a large Sporting goods store and they sent the gun to their Gunsmith. After welding and filling the damage, they told me that in order to cover the weld they needed to Black Nitride the gun. After 11 months, I received the gun back, in my opinion, it looked like a piece of junk.
What you and your team did in just 4 weeks was miraculous. I really can’t say enough about the craftmanship you and all of the people on your team have. Each and every one are true artisans of the Gunsmith trade.
Louie, Devin and everyone in the shop Thank you Thank you Thank you. Devin thank you for keeping me well informed throughout the restoration.

I do not know what Rinks was looking at but they are way off of the mark. The restoration was superbly done. The firearm looks as if it just came from the Colt factory. Louis, Devin and the whole team should take pride in the work that was done. I would gladly recommend them to anyone that needs a firearm restoration. Great work everyone!!!!!!!

It is rare for me to write a negative review but I must confess it is warranted in this case. I sent in my Colt Python for cosmetic repair and nickel refinish and I feel I was subject to a bait-and-switch tactic of their establishment advertising a fee of $X but then asking for more than 5x that amount to actually repair the firearm.
My de-nickeled and dis-assembled firearm would not be returned to me until I had paid for its re-assembly and shipment back to my local FFL, with a take-it-or-leave-it price to do so. I reluctantly agreed and am now having the work done by another provider at less than half the cost they offered.
The local manager I corresponded with, Devin, made often reference to "going back to the owner" to see if they could work on the price estimate, in an almost comic replay of the "I have to ask the manager" ploy at a car dealership.
I found the entire interaction with this business as uncommonly frustrating, unethical, and I would recommend anyone considering doing business with them to review all of the information about this company and save yourself some trouble and conduct your business with another establishment. It was one of the most unpleasant and costly interactions I have had with a business in some time.

I had called several times interested in a couple of guns, I was always able to talk to Devan or he called me back right away. I ended up in town on other business and decided to drop by. I was unaware that they prefer to do business by appointment only. Despite of that, I was shown every consideration as if I was a long time customer. Louie and Devan spent 3 hours of their time to help me out. I purchased a beautiful rifle from them and it won't be my last!!!

Came over from Coeur d Alene, ID to go to this shop, my husband wanted to buy a gun. Google says they are open, right now. their sign on the door says by appointment ☹️Not happy, will not be back. We own a huge business in Coeur d Alene, we ARE open the hours google shows. They must not need the business

Communications Nightmare, long delays and overpriced services - If you decide to work with this company get EVERYTHING in writing! I sent a 1959 Colt Buntline to Custom Shop Inc over 4 months ago and specifically told them in an email the barrel was damaged at the end and it was also pitted. Was told to send it no problem we have barrels from a fire salvage if needed or will find one. Do not have my FFL so sent it overnight at $150 due to regulations. Received a call the following day that they received it and would send it to gunsmith for next steps. Month later received another call that they were still looking for a barrel... two months passed and the owner calls and said they are sending it back! NO WORK performed and they did not want it laying around anymore. Reviewed the background and told me the fire salvage was another caliber and they did not have a barrel. It takes 3 months to come to that conclusion? Finally agreed to look for a replacement barrel and will update me. Couple weeks later receive an email with quote for OVER 4 times the value of the gun. Invoice included inflated replacement barrel cost, installation, gap check and another line item to refinish the old barrel and pitting that was being replaced? Called and said I was not willing to pay that much so immediately get a call with attitude from owner that I was not willing to pay them after all this work they went through. Agreed to send back the gun but want to charge me for shipping again. Called back within the hour and talked with the manager Devin and said I would pay for the barrel and cost to install it and eliminate their costs. Do not re-blue it and will live with 80-90% restoration and have a working gun again. The owner would not agree to do ANY work. So I payed $250 in shipping, they had the gun for 4 months and they will sell the barrel on their website instead of working with the customer. This is another reason why they have such a low customer rating. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS COMPANY!

Louie called me last night to tell me my Python was done and that he had finished it personally. He also stated that he had replaced a pin that was wrong for free just because he wants the gun to be as pristine as I want it to be. He did the Wiley Clapp 3" conversion and now he's done my 3" conversion. I don't care if it letters or not with Colt. If it's good enough for Wiley Clapp, it's good enough for me. I just wanted a 3" Python for a reasonable amount, so I sent them my very first Python that I bought in 1982 so it will be period correct. Louie said Devin, the shop mgr., would call me today to arrange payment. I can hardly wait. I have to LOL at some of these guys that think this is a LGS and they should just let them wander around and browse.

I called for an appointment this morning as it says on the door. Gentleman answered I said I'd like to make an appointment to see the shop. He asked me what I was looking for. I told him custom guns older guns and antiques. He said exactly what since I wouldn't know till I saw what you had. At that point he says oh well we're close we're not giving tours because of covid hung up. This guy's a punk and so is his shop..

I (along with one other individual) find and arrange the purchase of specific firearms for a select group of collectors. I found a firearm listed on their website that fit the bill. I called and talked to a gentleman that seemed interested in my query. I asked a few very specific questions regarding the firearm. When the gentleman answered the most important question, he hesitated and didn't sound like he was sure. I asked the question again and then asked him if he was sure. I took a risk on it. When the firearm arrived, I was disappointed. His answer was exactly opposite of the facts at hand. It was a consignment item and they don't accept returns on consignment items. Exercise extreme caution with this dealer. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from them that you didn't see in person. Could just be a new guy that doesn't know what he's doing. At any rate, they are definitely on the no business from us list. Too bad. Also, you should expect about $90 for shipping and insurance for a single long gun.

I sent them a Python to have the original finish put back on. They exceeded my expectations. They did a tremendous job. Their customer service was very attentive and a pleasure to speak with. I would do business with them in the future.
