nice and quiet on a sunday morning. Dennis was so wonderful to chat with! he was a Ranger for the parks service for years and now enjoys his timing working here at the nice Yellowstone gift shop/info center in Gardiner.comfy rocking chairs outside, sat out for at least an hour, admiring the elk on the hill nearby…until low-IQ humans started walking up to them and invading their space to take selfies (DO NOT GET CLOSE TO WILD ANIMALS, no matter how cute, please admire them from an appropriate distance).

This was the first time I have tried a guided National Park tour versus do all the research and planning myself. I loved simply showing up to the bus each morning knowing great hikes and parking would all be taken care of. Our guide Nancy Lewis, skillfully adapted to our group's personalities and pacing. She shared her love of the place as well as her deep knowledge of Yellowstone's inhabitants of both plant and animals varieties. I learned a lot about one of our country's most beautiful national parks in a most enjoyable way. I have already recommeneded this Yellowstone Forever lodging and learning program to other friends!

We live in Wyoming and have been to the park many, many times. Sam, our naturalist with YF, made the trip so much richer by sharing his wildlife spotting and tracking knowledge. Snowshoeing and wolf viewing, along with all the bison, bighorn sheep, pronghorn, elk, fox, coyote, owls, bald eagles, moose, ravens, even the first bluebird of the season made it a great trip. Plus, the other participants were excellent wildlife watchers (many were wildlife biologists!) and made the trip even better. And, who doesn't love sleeping in an adorable and cozy personal cabin in Lamar Valley.

Amanda is an awesome instructor - knowledgeable and passionate about her work.
We like how wildlife viewing is layered onto the ecosystem. We learned so much and it was fun to boot.

Our winter wildlife tour was amazing!! Our guide was super-engaging and SO incredibly knowledgeable! Because of her knowledge of the park, we were lucky enough to see everything on our "American safari list" (even moose, wolf and a hibernating bear!). She was also willing to go along with our group's craziness / sense of fun, even to the point of demonstrating what the different animals sound like :) - her bison in rut impression is fantastic! I plan to donate / become a member of Yellowstone Forever, simply because of her and her passion for the work that you all do!

We had the privilege of spending a day with Abby and Lauren as our guides to the North Range of Yellowstone National Park. They are so knowledgeable about all subjects (wildlife, flora, geology, park history, current park projects) and deeply enriched our day focused on wildlife observation. They were patient and enthusiastic about answering all of our questions and gave us a great foundation to expand our exploration of Yellowstone National Park. They had well-organized learning aids (eg charts, diagrams, specimens). They had excellent speaking skills and a great pace to topics. They demonstrated to us how to balance the plethora of scientific observations occurring here with the inexpressible awe of being in Yellowstone. Thank you both!

Our 4 day program included 3 full days of observations. We saw wolves, moose, bighorn sheep, pronghorns, coyotes, a bear sleeping in his den, tons of bisons and elks, eagles and many other fun things. All fantastic. We had tried to keep our hopes realistic, but we were lucky to see wolves on all 3 days. They were far away but clear in the scope. So much fun to see them play!
Our instructor (Mark) was very knowledgeable, personable and able to anticipate the needs and desires of our diverse group. He was very good at keeping kids of our group engaged and having fun. The activities were varied with some snowshoeing in the afternoon or stops at the historic Buffalo Ranch.
Generous with his time, the instructor was always above and beyond, as well as a safe driver and leader (think bison encounters). Gave us daily videos of the wolves from his phone.
The Yellowstone Forever staff was also very helpful. They help us figure out how to combine this program with a few days at the Snow Lodge beforehand, with complex shuttle arrangements. (In contrast, the Xanterra staff of the Snowlodge seemed clueless about the Wolf Discovery program.)
The cabin we stayed in at Overlook was spacious and comfortable (and with an incredible view of the park.) It had a kitchen so we could cook our own dinner and make coffee in the morning. The "on the go" breakfast and lunch provided by YF were nice.
Being February we had a very cold day at -14F, so be prepared for that. The other 2 days felt balmy in comparison.
Highly recommend it.
This is the only program affiliated with the Park. Other companies seem much more expensive as well.

Private Tour Had a good visit with our guide, and she truly did her best, though she has only moved to the area one month prior to our tour. For one month she had obviously done her homework, but there is no way to learn/know everything to lead a tour in a month's time for the Park. Another sticky point was that we were supposed to have received an email to bring a lunch. (For $700, we expected that lunch would have been provided). So, last minute we scrambled to find something to eat at the only open food place, the busy Old Faithful Cafe. If we were to do it again, we would have driven our motorhome and listened to a driving app such as Just Ahead or the National Park Service app with hiking guides and audio tours within the park.

Great organization with an admirable purpose - education about Yellowstone. If you can't take one of their excellent courses, then stop by to check out the great books in their shop.

Great little shop with a great book selection (I took home several titles) and other interesting and locally-made items (e.g., "predator-friendly" wool caps). We decided to purchase a 1-year membership as the 15% immediate discount on books paid for it, and I took home a plush baby bison as their thank-you gift. A must-stop if you're in Gardiner or are visiting the north end of Yellowstone.

Good place to stop before going into the park. Gave us some good suggestion on where to look for certain animals in the park.
