Paul made a beautiful 8-seater dining table for us. The work was of top quality and it was a pleasure working with him. The picture below shows are table that Paul made for us twelve years ago and it still looks new. We continue to receive compliments every time we have guests over. This year, we requested Paul to build us custom live-edge walnut bookshelves. And again we were blown away by his work.

Excellent! I contracted with Paul for a dining room table and end table from the same maple slab and a very pleased with the results. The slabs are silky smooth with a Profin gloss finish. The cats paw and spalted wood effects give my tables an artistic quality I love.

Paul Dumond specializes in custom live-edge furniture made in his solar-powered workshop in Montana. The attached picture shows a wall wooden sculpture that I designed and Paul made for our rec room. Paul recently visited us in New York to deliver and install an order. We have many of his pieces in the house. A word to the wise: to make sure you have a good experience, take extra time early in the process to spell out all details that matter to you like dimensions, stain, payment schedule, timeline, hardware, etc.

I, and some family members, have owned several pieces created by Dumond's Custom Furniture over the years. We are delighted that they've become family heirlooms now! Paul's work is among some of the best; I love the styles and ideas he comes up with. If what I want doesn't quite work, he negotiates with me to make changes. And usually he ends up being right. Paul is my go-to. He'll even take pictures of the wood he has in mind for a project and send them to me so I know what the raw wood looks like, and I can choose which pieces I want. Thanks, Paul!

Paul made us a secretary desk 20 years ago, which was a surprise for my wife (who worked in a library) on our 25th wedding anniversary. We chose the primary wood (maple), and Paul added his own special woods for the writing surface and upper drawer section, as well as the "card file" pulls. The desk is used almost daily, and we have had many a visitor admire its style and beauty. The maple has aged and darkened, as Paul said it would, and is an excellent fit with our other wood furniture. We are extremely pleased with Paul's customer service and craftsmanship, and recommend him without reserve.

Bad customer service. I simply called to get a price quote on my restaurants short bar top. The guy was short with me right from the get go and asked me my budget right off the bat. Oblivious to what it might cost, I threw out a starting number. He then went on a rant and told me I was cheap and then hung up on me. I’m not cheap by any means. If my guessing number was insulting. Then maybe taking just a few minutes to educate me of the process and cost. Then numbers could change. I’m a business man myself, if this is how they treat all potential customers...
I’ll be surprised if Dumonds Custom Furniture remains open for business with that kind of service.
Edit after owner’s response—
I was willing and interested in being a paying client but I wasn’t even given the chance. I literally got ONE quote before talking to him and wasn’t even sure what it usually costs. The owner was rude and refused to even talk to me and tell me where pricing starts. And the response here was insulting as it insinuated that we “can not afford” his services. I wouldn’t want to work with someone who treats people this way anyways.

I ordered a walnut desk from Dumond's Custom Furniture and it's beautiful. The desk was well packaged, easy to assemble, sturdy, and sits very level. The desk looks great! Thank you, Paul. I love your work. I would highly recommend this craftsman if you're looking for a custom piece of furniture.

I have thought about a desk like this for over 10 years. My only regret is that I did not find Paul Dumond 10 years ago! He was terrific to talk to and work with to find exactly what had been in my head for all those years. The look and feel of my desk is like something that has always been with me.

After a challenging experience with a local company, I found Mr. Dumond through his writings and reviews for custom wood furniture. Although I was nervous to trust someone across country, we spoke several times as we discussed a project for an executive desk. With a little flexibility on Paul's side, we went to work! In the process, I appreciated Paul's communication as the design took shape to balance function with such beautiful pieces of unique curves/shapes. Paul and I stayed in touch with deadlines and we built in flexibility to ensure he had ample time to take complete care of the project. Unpacking my custom crate and setting up the desk was easy and such a special treat! I couldn't be happier to have such an incredible work station. Paul works thoughtfully with the natural curves of the wood, so the drawers on the desk and legs complement and accentuate the slab tops. It's fun to sit back and admire the craftsmanship or run my hands along the lines of the wood grains as I work. I would highly recommend working with Paul, and I'd gladly work with him on future projects.

Very good looking piece/executive desk. I trusted that the finish and function would be consistent with other custom furniture I have purchased from other craftsmen. I received an executive desk more than month late (despite our contract) and the size of the drawers (bank of 3 drawers) were so small you cannot reasonably fit a piece of paper, let along file anything or hold much more than a couple pens or a stapler in anyone of the 3. When I inquired about these issues (in one email) the response I received was troubling. In essence, because I did not provide a blueprint, these inadequate and unusable drawers were deemed acceptable by Paul. His solution was me shipping the desk back for a 25% restocking fee (almost $2,000) and then stating an appropriate desk would cost 25% more. After spending between $5,000 and $10,000 for the desk this is the last thing I expected to experience.
